Yu behaved poorly but it was because she was shouldering all of the financial responsibility for the marriage…
You expressed it perfectly. The character I dislike the most is Luan Luan. She behaves as if she is a saint who rescued a man from his āevilā wife. Yet she took the coupleās private conversations and turned them into a play that is clearly based on their relationship. In that play, she highlights only the wifeās wrongdoings while completely ignoring the manās flaws. unfair. Honestly, I would really like to see Yu suing her for that.
I loved the theatrical play. Yu married for romantic feelings, expecting life to stay āpinkā forever. When reality appeared (money problems, social status, pressure), after the honeymoon period ,she became constantly dissatisfied. Her motherās influence makes things worse as she keeps humiliating her husband, attacking his dignity as a man and as a person. Instead of supporting him, she turns the marriage into a place of criticism. An Xiu is passive and weak in confronting the situation.Instead of solving the problems with his wife or setting boundaries, he escapes emotionally.Even if he doesnāt physically cheat, he creates another emotional life with another womanāfriends, home, even a dog. That shows he has already left the marriage in spirit. I love how the drama doesn't tries to make you "pick a side" but instead letting you, the viewer, pick by your moral standards.
I remember that i looked at this page around two hours after the drama was uploded and i saw the first review , which had 4.5 as the final rating. It isn't physically possible to watch a drama that fast , even if you watch it at 3x.
I just completed episodes 7 and 8, and honestly I donāt understand why the makers of K-dramas often ruin the second half of a drama. First of all, I donāt get why the second male lead suddenly has so much screen time with the female lead. I do enjoy their interactions, but it has reached a point where the male lead barely has any scenes with herāeven though we know they are supposed to end up together. Also, the whole father trope is so frustrating. It was obvious from the start that he was manipulating the situation. Itās tiring to watch a plotline when you can already predict exactly where itās going.
This drama sounds awful but I must give it a chance for Liu Yuningā¦
Itās not bad at all. The storyline feels pretty fresh, the characters are well written and the drama is unpredictable, it keeps you on edge the whole time.
As many people have already said, the characters arenāt like those in typical dramas, where people are romanticized or smoothed out. These characters are messyāand honestly, most people are. The human mind is multidimensional, and so is the way we think and act. That said, Luan Luan really gets on my nerves. When she was talking privately with Gong, I genuinely wanted to shout at her. It always amuses me when some people try so hard to present themselves as open-minded and non-conservative, when in reality itās just a mask to cover up a very messy personality.
Am I really supposed to believe that she can seduce any man with those visuals???????
Cheating usually has nothing to do with the other woman being āstunningā or ābetter.ā Itās much more about novelty, ego and transgression. Itās about wanting to taste a different "fruit", the thrill of the forbidden, the excitement of breaking rules while still keeping the safety of a relationship.
