I'm also curious to see how they'll fix this because the special episode made no sense at all. I can't realistically believe that they didn't talk for so long and that while in America Shi De wasn't communicating constantly with Shu Yi. I'd also be mad if I was Shu Yi had I not gotten any explanations for my boyfriend staying longer in America and then seeing him like that with a child. I might not think the child is his, but I'd feel hurt for being hidden stuff. Also, I don't know if on purpose to confuse us or not, but the timelines seemed mess up and didn't make sense to me.
I don't know how they'll make this make sense plot wise but I hope they explain some more. But if s2 is a mess and doesn't make this make sense, I'll at least watch for SamYu, their acting and chemistry if nothing else. And I'll also treat s1 and s2 as separate instalements. If s2 is a mess I can always watch s1 some more and stay there. But I hope s2 at least gives an happy and satisfying happy ending that I can also look for and skip to on my rewatches lol
Yes, I'll hope for the best and expect the worst, but I still trust them to deliver. I miss DeYi so much and can't wait to see more of Sam and Yu's acting abilities. I hope s2 hits me just as hard as s1. As you say it was never about the story, but more about the amazing acting and production.
I think that Shi de's stepdad got sick and he stayed to help pay the insurance hospital bills (they show us hospital bills and the name there seems foreign) but instead of communicating properly, Shi De doesn't tell Shu Yi what is going on and that he can't leave his mom and step dad like this. Tired of the waiting Shu Yi shows up and somehow finds them (they need to explain how Shu Yi found them) and that baby is either his brother (his mother had the baby) or his nephew and that girl is his step sister. Shu Yi never sends anything more to Shi De and simply blocks him and Shi De's message about wanting to tell Shu Yi something looks even more suspicious. Shu Yi blocks Shi De everywhere and after 2 years of trying to contact Shu Yi, Shi De simply notices his messages are unread but doesn't realize Shu Yi saw something that made him angry and is heartbroken and is still hopeful to talk to Shu Yi.
Shi De will try to come to Shu Yi's house but will be intercepted by Shu Yi's dad who is angry at Shi De because he somehow knows that Shu Yi is heartbroken due to Shi De and will convince him to step away from Shu Yi. Shi De wouldn't just let go and of course he'd try to meet Shu Yi. So it's only logic he tried to meet him personally at his home since Shu Yi blocked him.
On s2 Shi De's mother company is to be acquited by Shi Yi's company (this is in the synopses). So this is the first time Shu Yi sees Shi De. He's still angry and heartbroken due to the lack of explanation and contact and slaps him. Then Shi De will try to explain and pursue him again (this is also in the trailer) but Shu Yi wants to revenge by seducing Shi De and then dump him and break his heart like he feels Shi De did to him. But then Shu Yi's dad will catch them in bed and Shu Yi will realize that Shi De and his dad have met before meaning that Shi De tried to meet him in person. I also think that Shu Yi will unblock Shi De and see all the emails and explanations (scene where Shu Yi is crying holding his cellphone).
SamYu said that the big issue was communication. So I think they'll both learn the importance of communication and will solve their issues once they talk and then they'll get back together with this new maturity and understanding.
I think that whatever happened that wasn't explained in the special episode (but probably the baby is his nephew or something) it was both of them fault for lack of communication. Shi De's fault for not keeping Shu Yi up to date with his situation and change of plans of staying longer in America, the hospital bills thing and the baby he had to take care off. And Shu Yi's fault for not confronting Shi De to demand explanations and simply block him. It shows me big immaturity for them even for a 1st relationship and bad communication skills from both. I hope their character development is to learn to communicate in s2 and that s2 explains us everything.
My theory is that Shi De tries to go to Shu Yi's home when he's back in Taiwan but is intercepted by Shu Yi's father who has probably observed his son is heartbroken and says to Shi De to go away (scene in the trailer where the father asks what he did to shu yi). Shi De is convinced is better to leave Shu Yi alone and they only meet 5 years later due to the acquisition of the company. Shu Yi is rightfully mad and I hope Shi De will pursue him, explain everything and prove he's grown up to be a better parter and communicator. I think that the scene in the trailer or MV where Shu Yi is crying looking at his phone is him having unblocked Shi De and seeing all the emails and explanation and realized they lost 5 years due to being idiots unable to properly communicate. Also I think that Shu Yi's father will catch them in bed and Shu Yi will realize then that his father has talked to Shi De before

I think the true reasons will only be explained on s2. They just gave us a taste to keep us anxious and curious. This episode didn't explain anything. So I'm still hopeful for season 2.
And werent they communicating on a daily basis? And when and how did he find them in america? And why didn't shu yi comfront shi de? So shi de just stayed in america 2 years without explaining to shu yi and shu yi simply blocked him? In these 2 years couldn't shi de take a plane to Taiwan or both plan for shu yi to come visit??
