Hopefully there is some truth to this.Oftentimes I find that the audience tends to see things that the writers/director…
For sure. We are all so different so we draw from our own perspectives and things can definitely get over-interpreted.

yes they put equal attention to him, if not more this time. And I agree, it would be so unexpected and almost a miracle if it turns out SDM ends up Jinpyeong. Although I'd love to be proven wrong and see that happen~

Not seen it yet but read this anyway. Yes I really like that, another drama that uses this is My Mister, a great great one to watch. So it's really nice to be able to dissect scenes from another drama, makes it fun to see hidden messages along the way. That's why with all of these details, I think the writer/director knew exactly what they want to do and I feel like the coming episodes will be a make or break for each camp. Let's see! Although I'm pretty sure it is NDS and SDM in the end (whether or not they're the pairing I want to be together in the end). But the fact that they even gave half a chance towards Jinpyeong's character is really interesting. They could have made it clear cut to start with, especially as he seemed quite comical/nonchalant in the beginning. Though again, that might have been a front. Plus there are so many parallels which I enjoy seeing.

Everything that happened so far are all deliberate on the writer's/director's part. From grandma having DalMi choose between the old Do San and the new one, with the kettle whistling in the background, down to the "looks" Dalmi sends over Jipyeong's way, among other examples, these are all set up for something. It is extremely unlikely those are all for nought, the level of micro details that went on to those scenes really only screams they are intentionally leading the viewers to feel a certain way.
The camera angles, what they chose to film and how they did only serves to spotlight and intensify those emotions the viewers get to feel. For what conclusion is hard to tell at the moment.

Yes I think the story lacked depth overall.

Yeah don’t know about that. He did add the ‘ssi’ at the end if that makes a difference lol

I still don't understand, why he keep calling his mother only by name? (too western) At least he can call 'ajumma…
Remember how his mum had to register him under her brother's surname? So effectively, in everyone's eyes he is her nephew and her brother's son. Otherwise it wouldn't have been good for them to be known as the son of the soldier who defected. He also changed his surname back to his father's surname after the truth of the matter came out.

Alan Yu sings the song featured in the closing credits. It’s so pretty!
Yes, I didn’t know he had such a nice voice, definitely a plus *.*

Dr. Romantic 2. He was quite a multi-layered character.

From a charismatic villain to a loving father and hardworking entrepreneur and now a doctor? It's amazing how he plays all those different characters so well. Very impressive.

Lol you really mentioned the whispering!! hahaha, I honestly wished he would speak in a more normal tone in some of those scenes. Glad I was not the only one who noticed the excessive whispering lol. Yes, I haven't seen him in 2d1n but watched his other show Mask, another makjang which I truly enjoyed. He was really memorable in that role and he's just so different here, I can't imagine how he was able to pull off the other character. They are all just such good actors.

I was honestly expecting more of the angst, it's just because they have such a nice chemistry with each other, it was quite unexpected so I feel like it would have been such a good watch, although probably stressful if they did it that way lol. Yes, two perfect examples of a fine ML. This is said in a lot of romance dramas but I would really love to see them paired again in a different project - so much potential together!

I dont get why people are so caught up at the lack of skinship between the leads...? I thought it was predictable…
I personally did not mind it and even liked that it didn't have it because they managed to be convincing with their love even without a kiss/more skinship. I really like their dynamic together and wish her being the mum didn't get revealed too quickly. I feel like that would have had a lot more angst and impact in both the leads' relationship. I was expecting they'd get married first before he gets to learn the truth about her. Like you, I found the whole truth about the mystery was underwhelming and I wasn't really a fan of the illness plot. I think they could have used that time to make things more suspenseful/exciting.
I would say this is quite a tame makjang. But despite some of the things I didn't like, I still really enjoyed this drama. Very binge-watch worthy and amazing actors. Plus, I can't remember when the second leads in a drama have been as wonderful as the two here, especially Yeon Jun.

"characters and ships that you love are going to drop and die like it's a GOT spin off."
I laughed at this lol. So true, apart from the nonsensical deaths (which made me laugh at the absurdity of the them and how unnecessary they were) the story really had substance to it, which was quite surprising especially compared to some other bigger productions which seem to prioritise visual aesthetics over the fundamental basics of story telling. I really wished they didn't kill off certain characters, totally unnecessary and this was a sad enough watch without those deaths.
There are so many flaws I could list out about this drama but the overriding feeling was that I just really enjoyed this. The characterisation is great that even though some characters were lacking in the acting department (Luo Hantong), overall, characters were surprisingly well developed and well thought out.

The BTS were a nice touch at the end because I could really feel their sincerity and effort in delivering a great project. Haha He was impressive, both the leads were but we just were not able to explore much deeper the main lead's side.

I would like to see the two leads together again in a project, hopefully with a lot more time together when/if it happens.

A lot of redemption needed for In Jae. I just can't understand how a kind and a role model like big sister could turn out that way... even the mum. How can you not meet your own child.

Ahh such a bittersweet drama. The 12th episode really wraps up everything for me and it did it in a true OCN fashion. This lyrics from one of the OSTs that says, "May the end of your day be brilliant" perfectly sums up this drama for me. It was such a simple line but for the people left and who left, I think this is actually a hope that may be quite difficult to achieve. The lingering feeling when people leave was really sad every time.
