I planned to do the same too but I failed and gave in… and ended up watching 5 and 6…. This is pure torture. 😭 I’m going to try and wait until all episodes are out…… hopefully this time I won’t succumb to temptation.

Lol. I arrived at Ep 20 with some FF… ok. I can’t, am totally dropping it….

it’s just weird and…. The actress playing the FL didn’t help too….. I’m so used to her being typecasted and just her natural resting face suits it too, I find it distracting with her playing this role, which is kinda new for her. And leaves me mostly confused…. 🤣🤣🤣 it’s suitable for a really casual watch coz….. the OTT harem plot didn’t really amount to much, it was still very cliche/ at times illogical, but the production has a certain budget….

I read one of the comments below that this got altered to pass censorship… it’s originally based on the Emperor, so it should have been a palace setting…. I think things make a lot more sense once you view it that way. And it looks like the “real”/more serious political plot happens after Ep 20.

I didn’t fully grasp your ‘harem type drama’ comment initially… coz most of them get toned down when it’s adapted to TV series unless it’s in a palace setting i.e based on the Emperor… or the ‘harem’ usually doesn’t involve like the “ younger “ generation/leads….

Damns! This is really full fledge harem drama! 🤣🤣🤣 I haven’t watched one of these in aeons….. and there are so many concubines! I can’t even like keep track. It isn’t like 2-3. I’m just like lost in the number of women. I’m on Ep 8 and I still haven’t figured out how many wives he’s got.

Ikr…. Shitz, lol, I’m still back to me wanting to buy all the episodes. 🤣🤣🤣 BUT….. considering I piqued my curiosity by looking at the webtoon, I’m going to try and forget this, wait until everything airs before I binge it. 🤣

I actually think it will translate well on-screen considering the episodes aired. The webtoon plot is OTT but it flows smoothly and sort of sensibly. Like nothing too jumpy or too many missing puzzles. It’s just cliched. So as long as the actors and production team do a good job then it’d be fine.

Ok, I just read spoilers from the webtoon, it’s SUPER makjang kinda plot actually, made me roll my eyes a bit…. 🤣🤣🤣 So it’s actually the execution of the TV series that is good. And the cast. Ah, also it was smart to make it 12 episodes…. Anything more than that would have been a drag coz the original webtoon is relatively simple/short.

We are in the same boat….. 😢❤️ this is bad…… how now….. only 4 episodes are out…… I’m so desperate….. is there somewhere I can pay to get all the episodes right now……. 😭😭😭😭

I didn’t realise it was adapted from a webtoon! I wouldn’t have if I knew….. damnssss….. I thought it was just another makjang written by K-screenwriters esp with that promotional poster.

I really regret not waiting until all 12 episodes are out….. sighs.

Think it’s just the difference in culture and expression of languages..

I’m a girl and I’d like to believe I’m romantic towards everyone including my female blood relatives…. But in reality my sister probably doesn’t feel that way but instead I’m probably very romantic towards my female friends…. Kinda like most bromance/sismance themes portrayed in film. It’s not just affection…. It’s more of a notion, a behaviour, a movement… like the Romanticism period in history… just like Neymar and his sister….

Romance in a way of bromance…. Most blood sibling relationships are not…… ‘romantic’… but it’s related to how the term “bromance” came about, I believe it’s an abbreviation for ‘brotherly-romance’…. The romance I meant is the exactly like how the ML described the definition of “romance” in Dr.Romantic which stems from romanticism….

Agree! I was super surprised when I saw her on-screen, she really looks like Han Hyo Joo! Like she has a similar facial structure… but when you look at her MDL profile picture or her photos it doesn’t appear so…

But their dialogues/monologues is sucha revelation… thought-provoking at the very least though it is very much influenced by Asian culture.

I kinda agree with you though I’m not sure if I’d use the word ‘control’…. Mainly because my mother and I have a similar relationship and we’ve actually had similar dialogues/ conversation exchanges before…

of course, I can’t fly. 🤣🤣 But…. I really could resonate because my mother says nearly exactly the same things “don’t xxx, don’t yyy, you can’t do xxx, you must never xxx”…. Because of a very similar scenario, things she has no idea of, characters/traits she never had…. And from a child’s perspective, I don’t think wot she did was right. But at the same time, Mi Hyun also had a full plate given her circumstances. This is a sad fact that occurs more frequently than not, and Bong Seok’s speech totally spoke my mind… I feel exactly the same…

At the very least the mother could have ‘freed’ the both of them by discovering and conquering something new together…. Instead of avoiding it, suppressing it, and running away forever…. She’s also a mutant and an ultra capable one, she most definitely is the best candidate….

Gosh, this is so good…. Whoever who created the webtoon is super brilliant…. Wish this had a higher budget, the first couple of episodes were a tad too comical and tawdry… I almost dropped it coz some of the props were just too ridiculous/distracting…. I continued it because of BaoBao….. for both the character and the actress. The actress just has such an amazing on-screen presence….

This is so refreshing. And the way they did it was quite smart, not only learning about Mayan culture but also exchange of cultures. Reminds me of when I was a kid, going for student exchange programmes…. 🤣🤣 really have to give it to Cha Seung Won…. Damns, think he lost some weight and surprisingly looks younger….

I thought the trio was going to be super awkward and weird, but…. They actually were a really good combo! Great complements!
