Rewatched this for the 2nd time and just realised how well-researched this drama is. Bravo to the screenwriters….
As much as they took things to the dramatic side, i.e literally chasing after one evil spirit that originates from the sea and had a scene appearing Dementor-like (amongst other things)…… I just noticed that they actually incorporated a lot of elements from Western movies based on true stories…. And also renowned exorcism stories that were documented…
I never knew expelling nails were one of the recognised signs of possession…. until I watched The Rite and read interviews of the subjected priest. When I watched the scene in The Guest I actually rolled my eyes thinking that is just wayyyyy over the top and exaggerated…. This was just one of the instances amongst a few others which I came to discover that is based on some form of facts/documentation/standards released by the Catholic church etc….
Of course… just like The Rite, The Exorcist, The Exorcism of Emily Rose etc… there are a lot of skeptics and some that completely calls it a hoax which would have also applied to The Guest. However that aside, just the incorporation of facts into the sensible plot is a super impressive feat… rewatching for the 2nd time I noticed how the plot is so intricate and full of twists.
Also…. I have to say, damns… S.Koreans can really act man… even the kids and super minor casts. 😳
It has romance, but depends on which type of romance you like. The main pairing romance is really good imo
Lol. I felt the entire Blue Whisper was just filled with angst and pain.. 🤣
Just watched the thriller of this one… looks like there are comedic moments… 🤔 looks quite balanced. I’d probably give it a go once it finishes airing.
A worthy watch, love the cinematography although it’s likely the script didn’t require a lot of budget. 8.5 for me per MDL’s gauge. I’ve never watched the original film so no idea how it compares to that.
It’s out…. Production quality is surprisingly pretty high…. The FL actress is very eye-catching on-screen! Like I can totally visualise her as Shirley Yang. She has a similar facial profile as Michelle Reis… 😍
I’d say many of us, not saying you, dislike revenge themes because most dramas that includes it holds no substance…
Yea…. It’s not really….. sensible…. Or realistic… I can get some sense of people wanting revenge, but like it’s really very difficult relate to if that is a person’s sole reason for existing….
Agree most revenge dramas are so one-dimensional. 😒 I didn’t find NiF an enjoyable watch at all. I mean yea, it was very intricate and smart…. But nothing beyond that. I literally felt it was a waste of my time…
Yea, this is defo a tad too long. They probably still needed to fine-tune it. But seriously revenge themes are SO popular….. both in K-dramas and C-dramas… why………. 🤷♀️
This is superrr hilarious… LOL. I haven’t completed it yet but hope it goes well until the end. It’s so…
Hurm…. Similar to some of the comments below…. It just turned into quite the conventional K-drama plot midway-2/3s in…. I don’t think it was anything bad and doubt it was because of the issues with production…. Think they perhaps catered too many episodes to the major/backstory plot…. They should have cut it by half for that bit and probably allocate another case prior… about 4 episodes was dedicated to it…. Probably would have been much better if it was just 2… that would already have been 2 hrs…
I don't think they were exactly platonic though. I think they were in love with each other, but our boy definitely…
Yea, think you enjoyed that because subconsciously you probably realised that it’s kinda rare nowadays in real life. Also part of the reason why I was so sad they didn’t take it to the next level and see it work (this is where the drama bit kicks in, the hope of a HE esp coz they got all the foundations right! 🤣)
Mainly because everyone does it backwards and “hopes for the best” in the name of love…. So convenience and speed rules our life now (fuelled by the advancement in technology). Quickly get together, minimal courtship and just have your fingers crossed that there is a deeper connection and everything works out.
The feeling of love is usually a fleeting moment but then I think it’s like the drama and also the scenario I described that builds the foundation of love…. I.e getting to really know one another without being led by the whole physical aspect. And I don’t think the feeling/illusion of love = love….. that’s kinda 2 different things. More of the former is an infatuation which is usually mistaken for love.
I have to say Lee Min Jung really has a very pleasant face….. like very proportionate and easily accepted by most. In a way very commercial but also she comes off as memorable, problem is that makes her less versatile when it comes to acting. She probs need double the effort to pay attention to nuances to pull-off an unconventional role and surprise the audience.

Yeap, agree on the physical bit. Love extends beyond that…. But also coming off the same analogy….. being close colleagues and spending a lot of time together doesn’t make it love… it’s a good foundation for love for sure and if anything develops further you’d know both parties are uber serious and defo on the same page. Hence it’s a really ideal environment for special someones esp once you hit adulthood. 🤣 in a way the process mimics courtship in older times…
People will only really know if they love after going through some seriously uncomfortable challenges in life like merging of 2 families, finding ways to live tog, boundaries getting tested, overcoming differences in seeing wot is right vs. wrong etc…..

It’s not so much about the physical bit… I think it’s just at the special friend or special someone phase and it’d require further development. I personally don’t think love is something that comes without developing it further. So it’s something like colleagues…. And you continue meeting this special someone because you go to work everyday…. Whether it would develop into something more/permanent is yet to be seen until you guys actually get together.

AoL I didn’t finish it.
Blue Whisper was painful everywhere… lol. Even her relationship with her “brother” was sad. 🤣
I think you mentioned an important point…. So if it doesn’t a drag out I think it’s ok. As long as it doesn’t consume the entire drama…
