I saw comments that the other twin that was sent away was Yan Li’s dad, and he replaced the actual emperor when he “saved” him. That would explain why li’s mother lives such a reclusive life, I bet she realised who the emperor was when li was granted the title of a prince. And hence her Hoping Yan li and yan chi’s friendship can stay strong, she gave them those bracelets, after all root cause of everything would then be yan li’s father.

The emperor is the ultimate villain, for the novel this is already verified in the comments.
He killed his consort, son, Shen family. Also tried to get his brother and nephew killed.

Yan Chi’s Mother - she got targeted by the king when she gave birth to a prince, someone with the right to the throne. She found out, managed to save yan chi but got killed. Prince Rui works this out and hence takes yan chi away from the capital and also keeps his distance from him, probably as a way to safeguard him against any suspicion from the emperor.

Yan Li’s Mother - She knows something more than what we saw in flashback, maybe the emperor’s true face. She might be plotting something, but it’s too early to tell.

The shady Cult - They have stayed undetected for so long, means they have some powerful members in positions of power.
Because of these people they found abt the emperor’s wrong doing. The person who is supposed to represent justice needs to be served justice. The cult members would love this idea & the cult leader either is taking his god complex too seriously or has a personal vendetta. Which is why they are killing people loudly this time, ensuring general public knows they were killed because they did something wrong. They are setting up the stage so when they kill the emperor, the public would know it was because he did something wrong.

Minister Li - I’m not sure abt him yet, he maybe is a part of this cult.


PS- the only twist that would truly surprise me would be if Wan turns out to be part of this cult😂

Haha, okay. The same names are causing lot of confusion. I meant the previously mentioned Marquis in the capital, who is said to be regarded highly by the crown prince, is actual QW’s biological uncle(Qin Laing & him have same mother).
SW with QW’s identity could have gone to him but instead chose Qin family’s third branch.

Okay it might just be because the only family elder alive is grandma Qin, I’m definitely over analysing here.

Yea, I was wondering if there was a reason why with QW’s identity she didn’t directly go to the capital. But like you said we really don’t know how QW’s father’s relationship was with his brother.
