I really enjoyed how FYX and FSG from fated hearts started off as enemies but gradually came to understand each…
Agree! wenkan getting angry at her was valid. As the commander it was his choice to make, whether to retreat or stay till the end. Although her act of taking away his choice and knocking him out was consistent with how she treated YZ before knowing his real identity. We only have 10 eps left, but I’m kinda still hoping this becomes a point of her character development.
I think those specific gestures (The menacing smile & Raik being horrified) should be a nod to Misery by Stephen…
ohh interesting, I didn’t think way. Mostly because Kdrama romcom would never give such a twist, but as soon as I saw raik being scared of the knife I did remember poor Paul Sheldon’s suffering.
ok so i finished ep two and like i think they’re putting a huge red herring with sana holding the knife and…
I think those specific gestures (The menacing smile & Raik being horrified) should be a nod to Misery by Stephen King (A novel that also has a movie adaptation). Misery’s story basically goes that a writer meets with an accident and wakes up in the house of his “No.1 fan”, who has kidnapped him. I might be wrong, but Misery’s movie poster also has our kidnapper fan with a knife in hand just like that scene.
I never know where to pipe up with my more esoteric opinions but the scene dressing is absolutely fantastic in…
Haha, I relate to that. I agree. While I don’t know how authentic the representation is, I wasn’t even born at the time this is set in, and I certainly haven’t been to S.K., but I feel transported to a different time. It’s an immersive experience that’s done just right.
this is such a beautiful take. i love that the story is so character centric. it's been a really long time since…
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant! Usually, it’s easy to see such stories using their side characters just for comic relief or as stepping stones for the main character’s glory. But here they all are just struggling in their own lives and trying to survive, whether it’s nam mo, ma Jin, or mi ho. Even Shoe Park’s owner, with the limited screen time, had an arc that made me root for him.
I’ve not caught up with all the episodes yet. But I just need to gush, so here we go.(I’ve only watched till episode 10) I’m absolutely in love with the writing of this show. When I say this, I don’t mean the broad strokes of the story, but rather the smaller details. It’s so difficult to find shows with main characters that have some depth, let alone a story which is able to flesh out the side characters. This show has so far achieved this in a balanced way, at least for me personally, where the usual flair you’d expect from such an underdog story is there but there is also an emotional depth that’s not here just for the sake of it. One instance of this is JJM, TP’s mother. I love how she’s not just a “rich fragile lady”. She is scared but refuses to run away, reflects on her relationship with her husband, and when she feels she couldn’t support him in the way she should have, she makes sure her son knows he can lean on her. She evolves and adapts to the situation. The bond she ends up making with the two younger Oh family children is so endearing. TP mentions in a prior episode about how Cosmos is his favourite flower because it’s resilient, and honestly that adjective fits not just Mi Seon, but also his mother. I wish I had started this a week or two later and then binge-watched it, but instead we’ve two weeks of waiting ahead.
When bu xiu makes his first appearance in front of others, he is recognized because he has the same aura as JBZ.…
when 27 finds the soul devouring tree and he comes to help him. later sun liao reports to MQB that 27 had help from someone with same aura as JBZ that’s why he must be his companion beast.
quick question that I hope someone can answer without spoilers as I’m still on episode 15
When bu xiu makes his first appearance in front of others, he is recognized because he has the same aura as JBZ. So why can’t JBZ feel MY and 27 have same aura. Especially since MY has already used her powers to heal 27 in front of him. He also has fought with MX, so how, or why, is he unable to detect that MX, MY and 27 all have same aura
To me it feels like the result of the screenwriter wanting to express their own opinion. We’d start the episode…
That’s so true. Honestly, at the start I liked YS’s character exactly because he was neither “I'm a good lawyer who only represents good people” nor “Lawyer is just a job I’ll represent anyone”. Instead he had his own principles and beliefs that he acted on, which were at times questionably. But we’re at a point now where the show not only doesn’t question his actions but is also justifying it.
In the last episode he just beat the guy and police were like that way is camera free. He tells his ex-wife if she doesn't feel guilty/hesistant about abortion then she can’t be called a human. It took only one episode for me to go from "I like his character" to "what is the screenwriter doing”.
Well, with all that said the one character that I’m still invested in is Hyo-min. Her journey from a rookie to figuring out what kind of lawyer she wants to be has been what’s keeping me around.
Btw, I saw you started confidence queen, any first impression?
Okay this drama has a serious habit of pitting morals against ethics and then saying fuck it to ethics which idk…
To me it feels like the result of the screenwriter wanting to express their own opinion. We’d start the episode with a dilemma, seemingly have a discussion about it, unforutnatanely nuanced discussions aren’t consistent, and we’ll end the episode with whatever the screenwriter thinks about the dilemma. The writer’s opinion about abortion, animal rights, domestic violence etc is very obvious. The discussions never reach that meanigful point because they are written from a pre-decided angle instead of trying to look at different angles and then saying this is what makes sense to me.
The emperor is the ultimate villain, for the novel this is already verified in the comments. He killed his consort,…
yeah, the twins theory perfectly fits. I also don’t think YC would hold it against yan li, that’s just not his personality. On a side note, with this context in place, it makes sense why the emperor reacted the way he did when Yan chi lectured the other nation’s prince. At first I thought his guilt was abt trying to kill YC’s father, but now it makes more sense considering he literally killed his twin for the throne. I do love how these little details have always been there and make so much sense in retrospect. Like the grandmother’s weird reaction when she found out abt twins being born to prince Yan.
