If you have any interest or curiosity about this drama, you should absolutely take the plunge and watch it. You might not love it but I think it is so worth trying out. I'm really glad that I did!
I picked this without knowing much about it for a chill Saturday watch and I'm so so glad that I did. I didn't think I'd laugh as much as I did. The humor was threaded through so nicely and the actors were 'Amazing' especially the ML Hong Kyung who played his part so beautifully. I'm really impressed with him. The Japanese hijack captain was really great too and he reminded me of Ayano Go sooo much that I had to google to see if they are related. The political theatrics were on point and I think it ended realistically enough except for one thing 😏.
Who knows who's rating this? It's just a fan site nonetheless, so it doesn't count.
I didn't know you were talking about the Asian showrunners specifically and infact Asia as a whole, sorry. I agree that acclaimed sites within their sphere probably take precedence for them in ratings.

Not exactly. Maybe I didn't come across clearly. I'm simply saying that though IMDB was created for ratings, it was still made by people for people. Just like this site. People who give a 1 or 10 here can do the same there. So, why do fans ratings not matter? Aren't they also fans on IMDB or at least have the same characteristics as "fans" there (be it likes, dislikes, enjoyment, prejudices and so on). We're still all human at the end of the day? What about that site would make anyone be more objective in rating? Why is it more legit? In a purely objective world, we'd all rate media based on it's own merits but that's not this world. Why are a 100 people rating there better than 100 people rating here? When I was watching the old Poirot series, they gave me the list of episodes in order of their ratings (highest to lowest) and it's safe to say that I didn't enjoy it all in that order regardless of what raters said. I personally believe in watching what you want regardless of rating because as long as its people rating this things, I don't know if any site is objective enough to be the best one but that also doesn't really make the ratings here wrong. Its still just people rating for their own personal reasons. If IMDB were to give this show a lower score than you expect (like a 5), would you simply accept it as proof of how "bad" it is regardless of your personal rating?

Can I please ask what makes a Ratings site count?
I'm asking because if people are rating based on their enjoyment, prejudice, hate, love and whatnot, how is that not credible. What makes it less credible than IMBD for example? Is there anyone without subjective tastes and leanings including those we'd call critics. When you rate, do you not have things that you'd like or dislike based on your personal tastes which others may feel differently about? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm honestly asking cos I've seen people say this site isn't a credible source for ratings and I've wondered why and what exactly makes a credible rating site?
Didn't expect to like it s much as I did. Started completely on a whim and I wasn't sure how much Japanese comedy would make me laugh especially cos I don't enjoy their more anime-esque acting but this was really fun minus that. I actually laughed out loud a couple of times and I found our detective duo so charming and endearing as they "blundered" their way through.
This was actually a 9 for me throughout till the last episode which I think was far too ridiculous to enjoy even by the show's standard so it ends as an 8. They could have tried to make somethings a bit more plausible (like in EP 7) and it might even have been funnier but it is what it is and I would still watch a season 2 if they made it 😏. Japan do buddy cop shows really well.
I passed on this show for so long because I wasn't sure if it'd just be about a fluffy haired dude trying to be…
That cat in EP 7 made me laugh, he kept trying to get away alot of the time and the actor always had to stay calm and act with a restless cat in his arms. At some point esp near the end when he's talking gently while trying to pet the cat, I just started laughing. Had to rewind to watch well. I don't know if it was a part of the plot but at the time I didn't think so and it was just really funny.
I passed on this show for so long because I wasn't sure if it'd just be about a fluffy haired dude trying to be Sherlock Holmes with no particular distinction asides from having "fluffy hair" but the lack of things to watch finally made me relent. I'm now in EP 8 and I can confidently say 'boy, am I GLAD I picked this' 😁. First and unexpectedly, I love how much that hair fits Kunou. It could have looked plain comical but it's done really well and he actually looks good in it and I really like it 😊.
Secondly, for some reason I thought he'd be "funny" and maybe a bit apathetic but it's the other way around, He's believably brilliant and I love the flashes of compassion and vulnerability we see with him. Suda does such a beautiful job conveying this character, I love it.
Also, the amusing parts are amusing. I'm really liking Furomitsu and the rest of the cast is great. Hope it's great till the end.
Always the same line of history in c-dramas. REVENGE because something happens to the parents or so etc.
I've actually noticed that too. Sooo much revenge for something or the other that sometimes leads to saving the kingdom/country/empire/world. It's a really prevalent theme in the historical dramas.
I've finished subbing this.😊💕 I'm still studying Japanese, and English ain't my first language, so it might…
Thank you for subbing this movie. I'd tried to watch it a few times but gave up when I couldn't find any subbed version. I was really happy to find yours. I've finally watched it and I'm really glad I got to see it so thanks again 😊 and may God bless you.

Seems like I have to create an account to access the subs?
May I ask if you know any that's subbed?
