And please, if you know any stories with a "good guy-bad guy" dynamic like an undercover agent working with some villain and finding common ground type story. Thanks.
Slice of life, found family and friendship are my favorite genres. But interesting stories like this movie or 'The family' (drama with Takuya) or 'The Lines that define me', are cool. I'm finding that Japan tell diverse stories in unique ways and I would love to discover as many as I can. The only exception is romance, I don't really watch romances. Thank you!
That's sad... a world without hope is absolutely sad. Poor Tsurumaru to feel like that but I also get it given his circumstance. It is a fitting theme for the movie because it does seem so sad and hopeless at the end there.
Thanks for your explanation.
I would love to check out more old movies if I can. Do you have any particular recommendations please?
Thanks for this link. I was able to watch this movie because of it. It was a new experience for me and one I unexpectedly enjoyed. I don't watch old stuff easily and have little to no idea where to even find them so this was helpful. Thank you.
I have one question though, please do you have any idea what that end with Tsurumaru means? They showed the picture and then him on a ledge, blind and alone and I can't help but think its an odd way to end things or is there something we're supposed to glean from the scene? Like he got justice or something??
The poster for this show really doesn't prepare you for the funny, heatwarming, slice of life, 'sci-fi-ish' mashup that is this drama. I had such laugh out loud moments that were truly unexpected.. I love the dialogue in this show and it is delivered in such an amazingly interesting way and the acting is beautiful all across the board. Kiyomi and her friends are the bestest and I love them, especially "Minappu".
Ep 8. was absolutely ridiculous, this crazy people had tearing up one minute then fully laughing the next. I was literally laughing while wiping tears of sadness, It was just ridiculous!
I'm really enamored with this show. This is the type of stuff that makes me love jdramas more and more each day.
Thanks for replying. I already know of drama-otaku but they haven't been open to accepting new people in a while now so I just wanted to know if you'd found another subber or something. I tried to join a subtitle discord server but I was told I didn't have enough social media activity. Finding and watching jdramas can sometimes be frustrating. Thanks anyway.
There was such a great buildup that paid off beautifully at the last episode. The acting across the board is great and I have no complaints. I wish to see Sakura level up and also see what they do with the entire delusional mess that is Lightening bolt..
So, I'm joining the chorus... We need a season 2!!
Not really sure how to rate this drama because of its individual nature. I really liked some, laughed at some, and straight up didn't understand some soo...
There was a strange humor threaded through it all which made it really seem like they really did come from the same place.. I liked that.
It was a good watch and I'm happy to have tried it.
Still looking for english subtitles to this drama. D.O hasn't allowed for new members in a while now, I keep checking. If anyone knows an alternative, please let me know.
sorry no new update but today I saw this drama rumored to air March or April next year
That's a long time. I came here thinking I'd hear something especially as almost all the leads have had a drama recently aired and the second ML is currently in a drama that is doing pretty well. Wouldn't it make sense to try to ride those waves?
I really love this series. It was thrilling, fun and exciting! I loved how real the characters and the drama world felt. I enjoyed the tension and excitement of the games and I loved the dynamics between the entire team and cast. It all felt so real and heartwarming and their journey was worth watching. The games were not hard to follow along with even for a complete baseball novice like me and infact made me begin to research on baseball. Just so worth the watch!
I'd love some recommendations of good sports dramas if anyone has any, thanks in advance.
Good story, a lot of action scenes (if you like that), some romance, an incredible friendship, and sensible writing for the most part!
I’d heard negative things about this drama before I started it and I went in with very low expectations but I ended up liking this so much more than I thought I would. A 4episode test became 10 and 10 became ‘ok, how will this end’. I also had no expectations either from TBOY which I watched a few years ago and sadly didn’t like and remembered almost nothing from it. I decided to go in on a clean slate because I really wanted to see how an assassin organization and its inner politics would be conveyed and also I didn’t want my dislike for TBOY to colour this one so I can safely say that though a bunch of names here probably can be linked to TBOY and Dashing Youth (which I didn’t watch) at no time was I lost or felt like I needed to see them to help make sense of things. The story is tightly written and stands on its own merit sufficiently.
It wasn’t perfect and I did struggle with the ML’s portrayal some and none of the romances were that interesting to me but the story just really kept me going (which I believe is always the best part).
The actors for SCH and Mu Ciling are definite standouts I will be on the lookout for.
This is my first 2025 Chinese drama and I’m glad I chose a good one.
If you're curious about this series, I absolutely recommend trying it for yourself.
If you have any interest or curiosity about this drama, you should absolutely take the plunge and watch it. You might not love it but I think it is so worth trying out. I'm really glad that I did!
I picked this without knowing much about it for a chill Saturday watch and I'm so so glad that I did. I didn't think I'd laugh as much as I did. The humor was threaded through so nicely and the actors were 'Amazing' especially the ML Hong Kyung who played his part so beautifully. I'm really impressed with him. The Japanese hijack captain was really great too and he reminded me of Ayano Go sooo much that I had to google to see if they are related. The political theatrics were on point and I think it ended realistically enough except for one thing 😏.
The only exception is romance, I don't really watch romances.
Thank you!
