WenLang is extremely arrogant with an abusive nature, I'm not judging him, I'm only describing his character.
Now I've never read the novel, therefore I wouldn't know much about his background, but from what the novel readers have mentioned on this forum, WenLang did experience some childhood trauma that made him resentful of the idea of love! he only knows how to be feared. So, beta or omega, WenLang was always cruel towards GaoTu since their high school years, even through university. Here's an example, if you remember the scene where he told GaoTu to eat more because he was "thin and ugly". WenLang was genuinely worried about GaoTu's health... but THAT was his approach 🙄. He doesn't know any better and I don't blame him. I just wanna smack his beautiful face a few times for GaoTu's sake, that's all 😂.
BTW I'm not sure if you've read my comment from earlier this morning, GaoTu is extremely petrified of WenLang at this stage! He keeps threatening violence and murder against that "filthy omega" who lured him with 90% compatibility pheromones until he lost control! And because GaoTu would never suspect WenLang to have any feelings for him, he's now about to run for his life and his future baby's safety.

I mean .... gosh! at this stage, calling him a clueless idiot would be the underestimation of the century 😒. Hua is LITERALLY telling him

HuaYong didn't just lie, he engineered an entire situation to his advantage and to make matters worse, he didn't come clean by choice.
I did a deep dive into their relationship up until episode 10 if you care to read but that was about 5 days ago. I can post it in the review section if you want.
Anyway, what's done is done there's no point crying about it now! Moving forward, Hua is handling this completely wrong, unfortunately, no amount of grovelling would convince Shao after the fact!
You and I can see how crazy in love Hua is, but Shao only sees a liar.
Also, what's the point of "admitting" what he'd done at the X hotel? he couldn't deny it even if he wanted to! he got caught red handed, literally! Shao plainly asked him for an explanation but he didn't give any! Not even after he'd gotten better and was able to talk. So how exactly did he own up to what he'd done?

But who's to blame for that situation! GaoTu was raised to believe he must conceal his true nature from the entire world! It didn't help that the man he's helplessly in love with - who's also refusing to let him go- had always been extremely vocal about his hatred towards Omegas. WenLang, up to this point, has full control over every aspect of Gao's life and he continues to abuse him 😞 I have zero sympathy at this stage tbh

He is, I won't dispute that aspect of his desperation. However, he should know by now that Shao only sees him as a liar, nothing more!
HuaYong was FORCED out of his mask by a bloody EARTHQUAKE, mind you! He didn't drop the mask willingly and confessed what he'd done out of love or guilt!
What does that tell you? 🤔

Actually, he IS failing me at this point tbh! He's NOT dropping the act of helplessness! He should know by now that Shao is no longer buying it and he shouldn't be selling it anymore 🙂‍↔️
