"none of the fantasy Kdramas seem to end well" Yep, and it's why I watched 2 episodes of this and put it on hold.…
So true and that is one of the reasons I will skip all upcoming fantasy Kdramas (may make an exception for Chronicles of Asadeul due to the writers ).I forgot about Black -had got a vibe from the first 2 eps where this was going and stopped watching it.looks like fantasy drama writers nowadays care zilch for viewers who have invested hours to view shows and want to show a "different" ending .I still remember how well "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" ended.Even a show like "Gu Family Book" gave out a semi-happy end ..
I see a lot of heated debates here regarding So jeong and how she should not be the female lead for her sins of the past . WE dont know how that will play out in the end but I personally feel that she does deserve redemption and has actually suffered through the years for what she did-she is no longer top of the food chain anymore like she was and has devoted her life to becoming a teacher-something Bok Su prompted her to do Maybe what she saw on the rooftop left such a strong impression that she couldn't think of an alternative explanation-good manipulators like Se Ho make you see stuff from their viewpoint.. I have liked this show so far -has an old drama feel to it with great actors..
Just started this and it is impressive.Glad that Netflix has chosen to stream thi as the show deserves to be seen in the highest viewing quality levels.Beautiful cinematography esp the outdoor scenes ,Music and Lee Jong Suk is awesome and looks very different than the roles you've seen him in so far,in a good way..While I generally dislike shows with tragic endings, really liked watching this..
I think I really dodged a bullet with this one..it seemed very interesting to start with but once I understood the final pairing (spoiled by comments on the webtoon's ending) stopped watching it . I just never bought the actual final pair. Of late, none of the fantasy Kdramas seem to end well in my opinion-Hwayugi,Bride of Haebeak and this one..Which is a shame since the cast assembled was quite good in all the cases
Done with half of the show and Ep 25 was a real highlight in terms of action.SFD has a really good cast for action dramas and it has used them quite well..the politics continues to get a larger role but is very absorbing.
Done with first 6 eps and looks like this is a saeguk like no other. The characters are not really good people but driven by ambition or larger purposes.Highly layered and has great comments on modern day democracies.Superb OST and brilliant performances esp. Kim Myung Min as Sabong. At 50 eps this is a long stretch and was one of the reasons I didn't take it up earlier.I tend to normally skip first few eps for saeguks but every episode so far was important in this. Not an easy but definitely and absorbing watch and a great look at some real historical events interspersed with cinematic liberties
Tried keeping on hold but just saw the first 4 eps and liked it a lot ! It does have starting issues-some of the opening scenes are plain weird -but gets on track very fast.It is ,at heart, a love story that went wrong.. Yoon seung Ho and Chun Ho Jin are the standout performers so far. Story appears intriguing and i actually liked the flashback scenes more. Looks like my Mon/Tuesday slots are awfully crowded now..
Completed the show and this one worked for me big time..Joo Sang Wook is really good as the titular masked prosecutor and plays his dual roles of a douchebag looking prosecutor by day and vigilante justice seeker at night, really well. Excellent writing and strong themes. If you are dissuaded by the poor reviews, dont -this one is one of the best underrated Kdramas out there.
Started this after putting this off many times due to negative comments.Am at Ep 4 and this is turning out to be a highly entertaining, even comic book like, action comedy drama. The comic interactions are so funny..Joo Sang wook is especially superb in this as the seemingly corrupt and selfish prosecutor
Fresh breath of the cute ! Yoon Gyun Sang and Kim Yoo Jung make the cutest OTP around right now and the impact is awesome. Dont normally watch ongoing shows a lot but Couldn't resist watching this. The dialogues, music, cinematography (esp pink color!) are great .
I have question. I saw that the drama series Rebel and Hong Gil Dong are somehow connected. They have the same…
Rebel is a far more polished take on the character-it doesn't have stars like Hong Gil Dong did but HGD ending is one of the worst ever whereas Rebel is far better and a happy one
Highly enjoyable and One of the best makjangs till its ending which left a lot of stuff unresolved. The writer has a lot of material but seems to have lost focus on some of the characters mid-way in favor of some others.
Still, this show may be one of the best female empowerment shows out there-the women rule the show's world and the men either support or are manipulated by the women. The female performances are so good that they overshadow a very good Male cast..
It was genius of the writer to start the show with an incident which causes personal losses to the main protagonists and how the villain/s behind that event get entangled in their lives. Some of the character arcs were deeply moving and well put. I zipped through this in 3 days and the show never lost steam till the ending eps which became slightly flat..
Still, one of the best Kdramas out there in this genre and filled with superb standout performances
