Everything about this drama is well done and enjoyable so far, but I have a small concern about the casting choice…
I absolutely absolutely agree with you. And this is not a dab at the actress's acting ability because I have watched her before in Sleuth of Ming Dynasty and Perfect Match. It's just that, she has such a baby face that I just feel the relationship is inappropriate. I heard she was chosen because she played the younger version in the first Princess Agents. While we are happy for her getting the role I still feel a more mature looking female lead would have been appropriate. I also heard that there would be no intimate scenes given the fact that she was still a teen when they shot this, thank God for this but tbh, I just still can't get into it. I want to but I have yet to get past Episode 1 😭

You have certain points i can agree with, but it all comes down to do you care about her character developing…
It's no worries, I respect that. I can tell that we see things differently which is okay.

The reason she didn't tell him who he was, was because at first, she herself was not sure if he had an agenda, to which he actually did, and then secondly, because after she did an investigation on him, she pitied him cause it first seemed like he was harmed by his fellow court officials and so she felt like he could be in danger.

I remember at first he hid that he recovered his memories but in the end they both acknowledged it and I remember he shared a story about his youth. So in my perspective it's like oh so we trust each other and are not gonna hide things from each other cause we having pillow talks now and they were literally having a pillow talk 😄.

But even though such things transpired between them,he did not come clean. I also get it, he couldn't come clean because he is a court official and has to accomplish his task and also because he literally fell in love so he is afraid of disappointing her as there was a risk of harming her family. But he did it anyway. He said, if it gets to where this case puts them on opposite sides, he is choosing  to be fair in court, even towards her.

We cannot deny that what he did was a noble act, but why is it that he can make such decisions that can potentially harm his significant other and he can hide things from her but he gets no heat for it. Is it because he loves loud, so it seems like he loves her more and because he made a noble mistake so it's okay?

I'm seeing it from this perspective, for some people it is hard to open up to someone when trust is broken. For others it is hard because they have a guarded personality, others it's because trust has been broken too many times while others, are most traumatized by the people they never saw it coming from, like for example significant others or family members. So when she said she understood him, I saw that as a leap and a testimony not only to her wisdom and sense of justice but also to the fact that the girl is in love. She swore to her grandmother that she won't have anything to do with a man who can bring harm to her family but she loves this man and can't even hurt him. RSB loves but in a very subtle manner. But just because it is subtle does not mean it doesn't matter. Or it isn't there. Do you remember how her little sister misunderstood her. She would see her sister act, but because she was strict in her acting she thought RSB doesn't care for her but failed to see her sister's intentions and heart behind her actions. I feel like RSB is still being misunderstood in this way.

Okay I hear you, but who broke the trust first? Why is it that when she does it, its not okay. My issue is, she clearly has a stoic personality, in that you are right and so she is very guarded. Rightfully so, as she is carrying her entire family and their empire on her shoulders. So why is it when she acts in accordance with her personality it's an issue. I promise you I would be mad at her, even knowing fully well, what type of character she is, if she promises him, just like he did her, that she will never lie to him, deceive him or hide things from him and then go on and do it. You see to me, that's a breach if character and that's letting someone ride on your cocktails cause you are making use of their trust in you but she has not made such a promise, whereas he did. So why not the same energy for him. The issue here is we have two people with strong principles and priorities, for RSB, it's Rong Family, for LJL it's justice and that’s why when he was about to get married, he had to make a choice, he choose justice even knowing that it could potentially harm her family. We don't punish him for it because it is ultimately admirable and noble but from a significant other's perspective, that hurts. She on the other hand also has to make the very same choices, but to her, her family comes first. Luckily for us, she is also righteous and loves justice that’s why she helps him in every turn with the cases and as a result, she got kicked out. Yes she made use of being kicked out but she cannot predict to that level of accuracy, some things also come as a surprise to her and she has to adapt and use those situations. I feel like we are negating the huge steps she took for someone of her personality. I mean she's not a person who wears her heart on her sleeve and in the words she told her sister, she is not our typical female lead like she's built different and that's okay. And you know what, let's say you are right. This is my personal opinion, we may not agree on this aspect, which I absolutely respect, but I feel as long as there's no harm, no deception, then she's entitled to make him work for her trust.

Somebody enlighten me on how a female-centric drama became an issue when the story’s focal point is the female…
I love it too. And yes you are right about legend of zhang hai because when I first saw her, i was like here is his true test and challenge but as the story progresses she became a typical FL. I was not mad at it cause it's a story about him and so ultimately he has to have the upper hand aka Character Armour. But in this case the roles are not reversed, they are equals in character but only that it is a reverse harem, just like how you get , love triangles in a drama. It just describes the romantic vibe of the drama it has nothing to do with their respective wits if you get what I mean. In fact, I feel like only the part thats coming tomorrow will cause reverse in the roles, but so far I have only seen two equals.

Our ML is wise, cunning, funny and outgoing but that doesn't make him a simp. He just wears his heart on his sleeve and is more expressive about his love for her whereas she is more reserved in nature but it doesn't take away from how she feels about him. I mean she's naughty in private 😄 but she still likes to be discreet when she shows her love and does things for the ones she loves and cares for. She simps for him toooo because after he left her alone on the altar, you would think someone like her would have said "Thank You Next" but she didn't.

I have read many comments about how cold RSB is and I beg to differ. I also do not think the leads are not evenly paired in wit and wisdom, they just have different personalities. One is very extroverted and the other, as you guessed it, introverted and she was brought up this way because she had to grow up at a really young age as evidenced by her saying to her 4th sister that, "I am only a few years older than you, and I was also a child when mom died, and I had to take on responsibilities so I can't be the kind of sister you expect." It's something along those lines.

Now back to my point, if anything, RSB has been the one chasing after LJL in her on way. It's not loud in people's faces but it's in the way she said she trusts him and threw out that secret letter even though she had doubts. It's in how she was willing to let go of any past he had as long as he does not lie to her, deceive her or hide things from her. That holds a lot of weight esp for someone in RSB position. It's in how she understood him even when he left her at the altar, made her look like a fool and hide his intentions from her. Even so, she said she understood. Also, I think yall are forgetting that as much as she is in love with him, she has to be cautious and set boundaries because she is the heir of the Rong family. We know he loves her deeply but she is a character, it's like imagine in real life you are in a similar position to her, you have a guy courting you who once hide things from you, you love him but you got a family to protect, an empire to protect, heck you have your heart to protect, so she's gotta be slightly cautious.

But nonetheless, when RSB hides things from him it's not because she has promised to share every single thing. In fact, she informs him straight when it's something she does not wish to share, and her facial expressions show thar she is planning something and does not wanna spill the beans that's the difference between the two. And, whenever she hides things, he always benefits so I just don't understand why yall are mad at her. RSB is that girl, she will make use of every situation to create an outcome that is most beneficial for everyone. Yes, she's quiet about it as she prefers to do it behind closed doors or even willing to be misunderstood but that's what makes her the right heir of the Rong family. She is everyone's umbrella.

And what is this, she took his v card and abandoned him? No she didn't. She was gonna expose fake Yan guy. If anything, he abandoned her, the day he left her on the altar. Even though he was conflicted, I get it, she showed him plenty of times she trusted him and they could have made a plan together but I digress.

After finishing season Two ,, it's difficult to compare it to season oneSeason one has so many episodes but it…
I agree with you. Although we can all agree that the Joy of Life franchise is Amazing. I am also gonna say that as a huge fan, season 2 indeed fell short of season 1.

You are right, the intrigue of season 1 is gone. The second season took on the trope of striving for justice in an unequal society which is great but they did so in such a linear manner that the plot became typical and predictable, the “good vs bad” trope. It's not a bad plot, but for a JOL franchise my disappointment is they did it in such a black and white manner that it became predictable. In S1 the characters were more complex and had a lot more depth to them which was representative of human nature, furthermore,
all interactions even to the very nuances in their behaviours were intricately interwoven into the storyline in a manner that left you thinking, intrigued and at the edge of your seat. I honestly felt like season 2 started from episode 27. Does this mean season 2 was not great, absolutely not. But hopefully season 3 will deliver.
