I swear to god, I hate this Lin Xiuwan with passion, I feel like given her some dirty punch on that her annoying…
She's just a naive little girl in love. You know how love bombing be like. The guy/girl will project this saint like facade in your face so when your friends or family see them for who they are and warn you, you don't agree because your being gaslighted, tricked and love bombed. So I don't blame her at all, I actually think she's pretty loyal for that time period, didn't care about his status and was willing to mourn for him when he died, unfortunately, she was loyal to the wrong guy.
Am I the only one who watched today's episode and felt like I was impinging on XLX and Jinqi's privacy, like I wasn't supposed to watch what happened 😂. Idk if it's because their love story was one that was gradually and most importantly ,realistically, built in that it took a natural course versus what we usually see these days where within a few episodes, the leads already have some sort of skin ship or sensational intimacy where it doesn't go further but they are accidentally touching each other or falling on top of each other, or the extreme, for example , flirting with each other in pools of water although it never goes further because historically they have to get married for that to happen. So when I watched today's episode I felt like I was intruding on a real couple's intimate moment but I liked that it didn't go too extreme, we finally got a kiss and we all got the jist of what happened and that's that.
From FL’s perspective, ML and his family had effectively humiliated her by breaking off the engagement, regardless…
I agree because from the wedding day, girl could not even bow to her husband. When she met the elders her mind was elsewhere, like she was reliving the past she was trying so hard to overcome by "Living Well, and Living like a Wild Orchid" but through fate, she becomes tied to this family once again. Once she gets to the capital she does not involve herself deeply with house duties. And she even says to him, between you and I are many barriers. Poor Jinqi, thinking it's the difference in their status. Yes, she may not hate the Lin family because she worked very well for them but that's when her priorities were elsewhere, helping her adoptive parents become common citizens. Once she became tied to them as a bride, the bride she was supposed to be approx 7 years ago, the trauma hit, the way they coldly turned their backs on her family came to mind. I think as a human you can acknowledge when someone's betrayal is self preservation but that doesn't mean it won't hurt, betrayal is still betrayal.
XLX is truly resilient and has a lot of self respect cause a lot of people were caving in for Jinqi, feeling sorry as to why his feelings were not reciprocated, but for her, once Jinqi made that confession not to fail her before her family members, and once she learns that he felt like he failed Shen Jialan and tried his best to make amends by burying her family members, she's like okay, maybe I can do this. So she asks him to kneel before her parents, unbeknownst to him. And she at last, does not have to feel guilty about loving him. Oh actually, he still has a play to watch so the test for Jinqi is not over😂
Was this a highly anticipated drama before it aired? The drama obviously has a big budget and seems well-produced.…
I was superrr hyped when I saw the trailer last year because of the leads and the different women voicing their desires. I'm not sure if they put in a lot of advertising though, but I think because of the veteran actors and actresses they knew it was either going to do well or not do well because it's not your typical idol drama that tickles our romance/fantasy itch. It's focus is more mature and each episode gives viewers something to think about and reflect on.
Whattttttt? And we only getting one episode per day this week and Wednesday there's nothing at all 😭 or are they gonna go express on Friday and release all the remaining episodes?
No one is blaming the Lins for the death of the Shens but we are not going to look at them in a good light either.…
Actually I missed out on something someone mentioned, that the emperor required them to write a report denouncing the deposed emperor and the Shen grandfather refused. So I think when he chose to write, "A clear conscious before Heaven." That was his response to the emperor. But I still don't look at the Lin Grandfather as a man of high moral regard because he did indeed find out b4 him and chose not to tip him, to me, that's not what a good friend does.

Lol no, but it's not abnormal for an imperial edict to come while you are wearing your normal clothes. I think what made me assume that they were from court that morning is because the producers/directors made the effort to add a clock, when the Shen ladies were waiting they kept looking at the time. So, instantly I assumed the father and son duo were in court in the morning and came back while the rest of the household waited for the Lins.
