Yes she definitely had romantic feelings for XL at one point but being with him went against everything she wanted in her life. Also TSJ was very steady with her, always hovering around her, not letting her think about another person. TSJ was a smart man, he knew she was a distrustful person so he technically never left her alone for longer periods.
It was easier to love TSJ than XL so XY consciously "chose" to love Jing.

I think the drama version did not follow the book, one being limited time and episodes and second if she truly broke down as in the novel, the situation would be more controversial since it would prove that she did have feelings for XL beyond that of a friend as many people were saying in the comment section.

In contrast to him, TSJ was very open about his feelings, selfish, which is fine since all is fair in love and war, and actually kept tabs on XY. He travelled to Xiyan immediately when he got the news that she was getting closer to FFB. He would remind her of their promise.

CX's love was supposed to be unrequited since the beginning because of how story focused on their relationship as siblings. The fake sibling trope works only if both parties don't treat each other as family.
TSJ was a good character. At times his kindness seems a little forced as if just to contrast with XY's character. He got what others could not get plus his character was definitely weaker than the others specially XL, thus , creating all the controversy.
XL was a deep and complex character who definitely deserved kindness and love but the problem was that it was not his story.
This was XY's story from the beginning to the end. Her journey to heal and find love and trust people again. XL himself needed saving, how could he have saved her from the dark place her heart was in. XY and XL both had quite similar tragic back stories.
It would not evoke the same feelings if XY and XL got together in the end!!
