We are getting into the big endgame and this story only keeps getting more complex and surprising, still revealing twists amd conflicts. I'm so impressed with the tightly woven plot, we are really seeing a lot come together and make sense now.This is a show which promises to truly deliver on a grand finale.

Now that all the cast members and the various schemes they are working on have been properly established, the plot is really coming into its own. I struggled a little bit with the pacing in the first couple of episodes, but now it is flowing smoothly, and the web of motives and motivations is starting to really fill out.This episode does a wonderful job of introducing plot twists in a very natural way, and picking up threads from the very beginning which we didn't even know then would be plot threads (like the officer protesting the beheading in the opening scene becoming meaningful again.) It's an early taste of the show being very tightly plotted, as other comments promised, and I'm very excited for more.

Large parts of this episode felt more of like the wrap up, while the showdown itself only played a relatively small part here. I didn’t mind that, though, since the aftermath was handled well and with careSome of it felt a little bit formulaic or predictable but I really enjoyed it anyway, and came away feeling satisfied with the ending

This episode does such a good job at amping up the stakes, and creating a truly dire, gripping dilemma where all our valiant protagonists are in dire straits, and everyone's true mettle is tested, or set up to be tested.The flashback to 100 years ago in this episode was absolutely harrowing, and I loved it. It was a good way to drive home the horrors of a hundred years ago, and give us better context for what is now happening in the palace.And oh, is Joseon in trouble now!

I had had mixed feelings about the upcoming ending which had to leave room for a second season, but this one felt very satisfying.Without spoiling anything, it hits a very good balance between leaving us satisfied with some sort of closure, so we feel we aren't left hanging, while leaving plenty of plot threads to be picked up again in the next season.It feels fitting that the grand season victory everything should be working towards ends up being the garden's opening, it nicely shows how this has been a red thread all along even though it was in the background for most of the season.

A fantastic opening which neatly brings the initial romance 5 years ago and the story now together. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts, I'm sold on them from the first scene.

A very cineatic introduction to the series with great pictures and music, and a wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, the plot itself felt like it dragged even though quite a lot happened for one intro episode.
