i am still in my twenties and my days are as hollow and silent as the early mornings , i dont have a daughter…
I know it's probably impossible to think of anything optimistic while you're feeling this way but I do want to give my 2 cents. I don't even know you but I still believe you are so much more worth than you think you are. Life is something that was handed down to all of us and everyone is just trying to survive in different ways. Mindset alone can take you so far and the only person that controls that mindset is yourself. If you believe you're worthless then you'll always see yourself as that. But if deep down you don't want to then you can change that. Be kinder to yourself and take steps to work on what is getting in your way of happiness. If I did it then I believe anyone can
I'm too lazy to edit it but the screenwriter is not just Steven Maeda, several people have worked on it. The person who deserves the most credits however is Matt Owens. Without him the live action would not have been a success like it is. We have to give credit where credit's due. Sad that he isn't part of the team anymore. Edit: I've added him :)
The ML is not giving. Feels like a totally new character when he grew up. I’m only on ep. 7, so I guess I’ll…
Yeah I'm in the minority that never cared for the ML, I was waiting for it to happen but it never did so I wish I had lowered my expectations for him back then. It's an amazing drama either way!
Was excited for the enemies to lovers plot but this was disappointing. No offense to the lead actors but the couple was a huge miscast. They had the most non romantic chemistry ever that it's surprising that I'm the first one to comment about this. Felt very forced and unnatural, they just did not fit together at all. Last scene was cute tho.
It's surprising she hasn't been offered a main lead role in a bigger drama considering how pretty she is. Also wonder why she hasn't acted the last few years
Oh wow finding out the male lead was 27 in this is quite shocking, I genuinely thought he was around the age he played because of his baby face. Enjoyable coming of age special! Also Kang Min Ah is super pretty
For movie lovers, if you enjoy this silly sci-fi jdrama then I think you'd also enjoy the jmovie River from 2023. Just as fun and short. It gave me very similar vibes. https://kisskh.at/749343-river-nagarenaide-yo
What's everyone's favorites in order? I think mine goes like: Trespassers Brush Up Life Hot Spot Satsui no Michinori Sutekina Sen Taxi (unfinished) Kuroi 10-nin no Onna (unfinished) Non-rem no Mado (unfinished)
Is there a version of this with only the English sub? I see two languages overlayed on top of each other.
Yeah there is on illegal streaming sites but the quality is 480p. This is the better quality but the only downside is indeed the overlayed subtitles. So it's up to the watcher to decide what they prefer. With jdramas there's unfortunately not many sources we can pick from so this is the best we can do. Maybe at this moment there is a new source I'm not aware of so it's always worth searching the internet.
He told her brother about the problem she had at school, asked him to go to talk with her teacher. But SY didnt…
I agree that context and intentions are important and I get where you're coming from, but from my pov the context I got is very different from yours. He once tagged along to his friend's house, met his friend's little sister there and ended up helping her that day. It was a nice thing of him to do and that's where their contact ended. Precisely because of that I say they barely know each other because they have literally only met once. I don't get why many interpreted their relationship as an immediate sister-brother bond from the get go, I agree that that's the relationship they eventually establish but how is that possible from just that one day? They had zero other interactions afterwards and even a time skip happened. Their 2nd meeting was a few years later at the dorm where this whole workbook situation happens so yes everything is pointing to them barely knowing each other unless I'm missing something. So him wanting to go out of his way and help her like that I thought was just not in his place to do and inappropriate. And to clarify I don't just mean him returning the workbook, I mean the act of him staying together with her afterwards. I think it's improper unless her family knows about it but they didn't because it had to be kept a secret.
Edit: I just see your edited version. I think you misunderstand my intentions, I'm not trying to deliberately make him out to be a pervert neither am I claiming that he is. All I think is that in that particular situation a line was crossed and that the writers should've given it more thought. It bothered me when it happened so that's why I wrote about it that's all
He told her brother about the problem she had at school, asked him to go to talk with her teacher. But SY didnt…
Alright I just rewatched it too. You're definitely right about the brother being aware that they left something and would therefore have to exchange it between them. Then on the phone Jiaxu initially also wanted to hand her back the book through her brother, but because of Sang Zhi saying her brother would "break her leg" he proposes the other idea. And that is exactly the part I find inappropriate. I totally get it's a fictional story alright and Jiaxu's character is very caring. I just find the initiative itself not being a proper thing to do with a minor girl you barely know? One of the better ways to handle this was to teach her a lesson through the phone, that this is the consequence of leaving your workbook behind and that he will give it to her brother. I guess this is just a debate on ethics which everyone views differentely but I personally view it as crossing a boundary.
He told her brother about the problem she had at school, asked him to go to talk with her teacher. But SY didnt…
Except it was tho? That's why I think it's weird. If this same situation applied in reality it would've been very inappropriate. People seem to ignore it because it's fiction which I get but it still rubbed me the wrong way
He told her brother about the problem she had at school, asked him to go to talk with her teacher. But SY didnt…
Well I already explained myself in my original comment and if you don't see where I'm coming from then idk what to tell you. It was an inapproriate situation. Why? Because she was a young girl he only met once a few years ago, then he withelds the information from her brother, so without consent they meet up. He didn't have to do any of that and most people wouldn't either. Weird situation written by the writers.
It's actually very interesting how in my early days of watching asian dramas and movies I did not like this at all. But after years and now having become a seasoned fan, rewatching it actually blew me away. It's one of my all time favorite movies now. It's probably a combination of me maturing, finding out my taste and understanding Japanese culture like I do now for me to really appreciate this movie. I just find it so interesting seeing the mixed opinions in the comments below knowing I felt the same before but now thinking it's crazy that people actually find it bad ahaha. I freaking love this movie!
You are not the only one to notice this about Sang Zhi. It is very intentional on the writer and director's part.…
I'm confused as to where you're getting from that this drama is based on that story by Isaac Asimov? Honestly I feel like you're analyzing this too deeply, I mean do you but not every story has a grand goal to have some hidden message. The themes you mentioned which they've addressed are very surface level, of course age gap and height difference at those stages is unethical. Anyhow I get that you wanted to show a different perspective of this show but I personally don't care for it. Have a good day tho and happy drama watching as I will be leaving the conversation here.
