Another long Chinese historical that once started, I could not stop and any drama I was watching was put on the back burner. Like any historical, it took a couple episodes to get into it but then you get over that initial confusion of the story/ characters and it becomes compelling. Strong and smart female lead, handsome and cunning male lead- I found out afterwards that they are married irl and it makes sense because the chemistry is *chefs kiss* Like any long historical- don't let the number of episodes deter you from watching, this is a great drama and I HIGHLY recommend it. To those who have finished this drama, I am wondering which one would you pick as the most hated villain:1. Mo…
Gu Ting's step mother for sure. She is the main instigator of all the trouble our main characters have to deal with. Even getting the Empress Dowager involved with her scheme- she got exactly what she deserved in the end. Auntie Kang is a close 2nd as she was just a instigator and a puppet for Madam Gu but then her hatred took a life of it's own. Manniang- there are no words to describe how evil she is; kidnapping and letting her son die, disregarding her own daughter, and then to top it all off- trying to kill a baby?! yea, she is in Hades for sure. At the bottom of the list is Molan and her mother; Molan is just jealous of her sister; her mother on the other hand- BIG yikes on a thousand bikes.
Special shout out to the rest of the Gu clan that tormented Gu Ting and his mother Bai and those that were in court trying to take him down.
Man, this was intense , sad, thrilling, just a whole bag of emotions while watching. It made me stop and think, there are really people out there living like this and that's sad af. Not for the faint of heart and I would only recommend for a mature audience. (pinoy5movies)
Currently reading the 2nd manga, The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice, and of course they had to remove some aspects but the movie is pretty accurate (so far). I really enjoyed this as flawed characters are my favorite things to watch in a drama/ movie as it makes it more realistic and believable. Otomo doesn't know wtf he wants and Imagase knows exactly what he wants and that is the problem. The ending- bittersweet especially with Imagase but I totally recommend this one BUT for a mature audience. (dramacool)
This took me 5 months to finish- FIVE MONTHS!! This series was one where I looked forward to the next season but this... they dropped the ball completely. This was merely fan service with no real storyline and I don't like that. This drama is 30 episodes with a VAST majority of it being filler. Honestly, you can watch the first 5/6 episodes and then the last 6 episodes because that is how much they spent on actual plot. If there is another season, I wouldn't watch it cause it's clear they have no more story. (dramacool)
The story is not all that great imho BUT the acting between/ interactions of the women and their individual stories was captivating. It ends on a cliffhanger so I can't wait to see the next installment. (netflix)
Couldn't agree more. It was so bad I dropped it midway. Sad because the first few episodes promised a really interesting…
If you ever find yourself debating on whether to pick this back up- don't. It's not worth it at all. I honestly thought it would somehow redeem itself in the end but it didn't. I should have done what you did and saved myself the time and watch something else.
The production of this drama was top notch *chefs kiss* and the acting was really good BUT the story itself seemed shallow and vapid. I mean I guess with the topic of the drama being liked and accepted by strangers and feeling like nothing w/o them the central theme- I get it but... idk. Anyway, I enjoyed it and look forward to much more Netflix Japanese dramas in the future. (Netflix)
I just randomly came across this and decided to watch it- typical weirdness that Japan is great at. I feel if the budget was bigger they could have done a better job of portraying the story but they did well what what they had. I personally wouldn't mind a remake of even a series to delve deeper. (Tubi)
This was very interesting but also very disturbing and definitely for a mature audience. I've seen some of Scud's previous works and they are always hella dark and depressing- this was no different. This movie is not for the faint of heart and afterwards I felt depressed. (Tubi)
Typical k-drama that gives us a unique premise but the execution is absolutely atrocious. I feel I would have loved this drama if it was 10> episodes but dragged it out for so long that it became a chore to watch (took me 4 months to finish it). The story starts off well enough but then at the half way mark I began to wonder what was the storyline about anymore. The main couple kept going in circles while the secondary characters actually made progress. I don't understand how people could say they enjoyed this. This is a fail- I do NOT recommend. (dramacool)
s/n I really wish Park and Lee would get better parts cause their past dramas/ movies have been MEH and they don't deserve it.

Don't judge me -_-
