I am guessing chinese version is more detailed. although I have only watched korean version as of yet. Chinese…
All the brothers in this drama were very charismatic (of course, some more than others--we each have our favorites). I thought the "bald heads" seemed very dignified and sooo handsome. But I do like guys who are bald as well as guys with long hair--go figure?! And I love historical dramas. This will always be one of my top favorites.
Korean version? This version ?
What to watch, what to expect?
Sorry but they are really totally different dramas even thought there is a somewhat vague similar plot line. Even though I like the actors in the Korean version, there is no real possible comparison. The Chinese Version will always be one of my very favorite historical dramas. There are a couple of very dramatic scenes that are hard to watch, but the storyline and the actors are so amazing--you will be astonished. The cinematography and everything was top notch. I think about this drama often and compare others to it. Sadly, the sequel was not worth watching--I was really hoping it would be. Just pretend there is no sequel--but the first Scarlet Heart Chinese version is epic to me. I have watched it three times in the last few years. It's absolutely a must watch--Enjoy!!
I liked this drama in the beginning, but after several episodes sadly it did become rather boring and I was forcing myself to finish it since I really didn't believe that the pace was going to pick up --and it didn't. The actors were cute together but it really was sooo slow. The male lead was too straight faced ALL the time and the female lead was a little better. I found the other character couples actually more interesting. The ending was okay (I didn't hate it), but very predictable and not spectacular for sure. I probably wouldn't watch this again. If you're looking for something faster paced and really interesting I suggest watching "Just Between Lovers." That one held my interest all the way to the end and never got boring. Take care.
Excellent drama. I rated it at least 9.0. I liked it all the way through. Really good actors and storyline. Even though if I had known the storyline before I started watching, I probably would not have seen this because I don't like crying over dramas--but this one was worth it. Great job everyone!
Comment: I also didn't care for the periodic flashbacks as someone else has mentioned, but there weren't too many. Even worse is when Viki.com advertises their translators throughout the episodes while you are trying to watch the drama and also they display credits in the last episode or two. Why not just show the viki credits at the end instead of interrupting the story and emotional climax?! I'm sorry but it's very annoying.
I loved this drama. Every time I think of it, I get good feelings. One of the best historical dramas I've watched. I was just ready for it at the right time. Great actors, not overly dramatic--just the right amount of drama, comedy , romance--everything seemed perfect. It's been a couple of years and I think I really do need to watch it again. You should at least try it--It's totally worth it! Enjoy!
This was a very cute drama. I did enjoy it, and the actors were good, but I do think it's a bit overrated at 8.8! I would give it about 8.2 or 8.3. You should give it a try! Take care.
No don't forget my review... I gave T&E a 9.0 and also awarded it best C-drama seen to date... Although there…
Sorry about that...I did mean "forget the first review." I agree with you. (I'll revise my comment--thanks.) I finished the series and it was great--except I really do hate endings that leave you hanging, waiting for the next sequel. With 75 episodes, the least they could do is create a better ending with a promise of things to come. I hated the ending in Lord of the Rings for that reason too.
I absolutely love him in "Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy!" I am really looking forward to seeing Zhou Yi Wei in more dramas. His acting is excellent. And please make him look just as he does in this drama.
Just forget the low rated review above! This amazing drama definitely deserves a 9+ in my opinion. Read more comments below to see how great other people feel about "Tribes and Empires!" I'm on episode 65 and I'm still loving this drama!!
Right!!!! It has surpassed my favorite series Bu Bu Jing Xin... not that the two or comparable. But, yes this…
"Bu Bu Jing Xin" (The original "Scarlet Heart" ) is one of my top Chinese dramas! (It's too bad the sequel was so bad though--I was really looking forward to it.)
I really cannot understand why people are so negative about this drama--"Tribes and Empires." The actors and story are so amazing. Maybe some people just don't like long dramas, and not many are totally perfect, but this one is really, really good. I will watch it again, but I do love historical dramas (as well as other genres). All I can say is watch it and decide for yourself!
I happened to stumble across the move(s) Red Cliff (1&2) and I just have to say I was astonished at how amazing this movie was! It is now one of my all time favorites and the first one I mention when someone is looking for a really compelling movie. I don't know how it's possible, but every actor was truly excellent--music, cinematography, everything! It is definitely a must watch . Now I just have to find the dvd so I can own it--forever! I will also check out some of his other films. Enjoy!
I am currently on episode 21 and at the end of each I can't wait to watch the next episode. The actors are great, the music is very well done and the cinematography is captivating. Who cares if it's 10 or 100 episodes? I'll keep watching as long as it's interesting (I would be watching something anyway during those hours). Some people have compared this drama to "The Lord of the Rings." In many scenes it reminds me more of "The Game of Thrones." I love that this is a long-playing drama because it doesn't have a quick end like movies do and therefore the storyline goes into much more depth. Enjoy!
I am so sad...and so sorry. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jeon Tae Soo. He acted in some of my favorite dramas. He will be missed. Rest in peace and love.
DAEBAK! 81 episodes = 81+ hours of my life = NO SLEEP for about 4-5days! I'm adding it to my list cos I wanna…
It's a definite must-watch and now on my favorites list. Just start it, you'll know if you don't want to keep going, but I don't think that will be the case. Love this drama--I rated it 9.5/10.
Love this drama--"Jumong"--It is a definite must-watch!! It is now a favorite that I will watch once a year (now my second time). It rates up there with "Empress Ki" and "Jewel in the Palace". The music is beautiful and even though it's 81 episodes, I feel that it could have been longer. If that is why you are hesitating, I just figure that I'm going to be watching something all that time anyway so it may as well be something that I enjoy. Anytime you want to quit, there's nothing stopping you, but I don't think you will. I'm going to miss it--again. Also the music is so amazing and appropriate in every scene. The actors and storyline are excellent. Great job to all!
This drama is so amazing and so worth watching. I just finished it again for the second time and decided that I'm going to watch it every year . One of my favorites! (Amazing music also.)
I kind of hated the end ...felt sorry for his first wife , and it keep lengthening at end , any how fine drama…
Be careful not to tell spoilers when you make comments. (PS I don't agree with your reasoning.) Please be considerate and mark this as a spoiler. Thanks.
