Like all buddy comedies, the contrast between the two male leads is so fun to watch!
The two leads are Filipino immigrants in Taiwan, stressed by all the rules they must abide by in order to not get deported, just trying to find ways to enjoy their life away from home and their families. One day, they pick up a little red couch to keep the fantasy alive, but because of it, they wind up in a chaotic wayward adventure through Taipei just trying to get back to the dorm.
I love the movie theme song. I require it. Anybody know the name?
I think, like several other kdrama BLs, such as Behind Cut, this one got a bit harsher reviews because it is so character driven. Because, absolutely, there's not much plot. But it obviously wasn't meant to. The focus was on Eden's developing feelings on Jihoon. And that was very well paced. Also Mill (as Eden) did a very good job performance wise convincing me of the character's feelings towards Jihoon and becoming an idol. He's still a rookie, you can tell, but it was a solid performance.
Now, I do think they did some things wrong. Some scenes felt a bit unnatural, because you could pretty much tell that rather than focusing on conveying emotion or chemistry, the crew was focused on conveying the actors' visuals. I also think that the drama should've put a little less focus on how agenda'd the industry is (and on the ex. The ex especially), and rather focused on the idol side. Lean into the fact that these guys are idols, both in drama and in reality, and gave us more about training and performing during a debut. Like, instead of giving that taste of a high tension plotline, they should've just accepted that this is first-and-foremost a character-driven drama, and would receive the hate that comes with that anyway, and just leaned into it.
There wasn't a mother episode. This page was created while everyone was thinking it would be an anthology (think: My Universe or Our Skyy) rather than a project (En of Love or Midnight Series).
But this overarching project may be cancelled now, as the overarching socials were deleted.
