EunJin Im so hyped she deserves main roles, she is so talented I love her an romance with Namkoon Min, its been…
Not really, no, you're right. He was one of the best and most original romantic MLs in Beautiful Gong Shim. Or should I say "Gongg Shimm Ssiii...". I think it was one of those dramas where an established, slightly senior actor is paired with a rookie to keep it on the rails, but he was so good that it took on a life of its own, highly recommended!
Global stardom is beckoning for Won Ji-an, she certainly has an enigmatic appeal. I dropped the vampire thing before she showed up, maybe I'll have to give it another try!
"Concentrating on viewership" LOL There was no mythical time when viewership was not important, it's a business.…
Somehow your comment got posted 4 times! Honestly, the people complaining about tropes are ignoring nuance and stopping themselves and others from enjoying the fun.
They'll be the ones who take their kid to a birthday party and tut and roll their eyes when the birthday cake is brought out. "How boring, not this old cliché again, trope after trope!" they say smugly... as they look around the room for acknowledgement, their view isn't reciprocated by the normal mums and dads.
I'm all for using whatever pronouns you want for whoever you like... but this is taking the p*** 😂: "It will showcase the love story of a woman who believed that he can win over all the men in the world and then finally found a man he fell in love with, and a man who doesn't love anything until he found the woman".
I don't see the problem with making vampires different in this drama? Mythical creatures have been known to be…
Thanks, I appreciate your view. All countries have a degree of unfunny comedy when I think about it. King The Land cracked me up this weekend, it was funny - the jokes took 3 episodes to build up, that's how it's done I suppose - if they tried to do the same jokes in episode 1 it wouldn't have been funny. Timing is everything.
Concentrating on viewership … just take famous stars for views... however the script is not that good.. Kdramas…
Btw, have to say I disagree, these 2 dramas are both good. The ratings seem to be a good measurement, they're both on pay TV and I'd say KtL is about twice as good as 19th, but that doesn't mean 19th isn't any good, it's got plenty going for it.
No... Soompi headlines are from Hazel Jung, e.g. "3 things to spot in this new drama" And include spoilers: "X and Y spend the night in the same room in the next episode of Z". I blocked Soompi. I'll block MDL if they keep doing that.
This user always loves to exaggerate doesn't she? Neither of these dramas are breaking records. The roof for breaking…
A personal best is a record, so nothing wrong with selling an article with a little hyperbole. If you read the content of Lily Alice's writing, it carries more information and covers more bases than other writers. She/he is the best MDL writer at the moment, seems like the work of a good, old fashioned journalist to me.
If tvN is resorting to sequels to save itself... oh dear, hello America. The American shows we're all running away from, towards South Korea... and Americanisms are ruining it. Or should I say, money and greed is. Two things that mix like oil and water: greed and artistic integrity. Unfortunately humans are more greedy than artistic. That's why the rich pretend to advocate the arts, those rotten souls.
Edit: have to add, Jtbc is carrying the torch for artistic integrity and that's why it's maintaining its popularity. In the long term it's the only thing that counts and viewers remember.

Well, like music and all forms of art .. we only remember the greats. Whilst those great works were being made, there were countless, forgettable contemporaries of lesser quality. Such is life.

I agree... but taking the existing mythical beliefs and tweaking them rather than breaking any new ground is... exactly what every other vampire fayre tries to do, and it's been done plenty. I levelled exactly the same criticism towards Park Chan-wook years ago, don't worry :) The best vampire film that stretched the imagination was Tony Scott's movie "The Hunger", that was something.... I believe even that hallowed ground has been desecrated by a modern ripoff TV series, but the original film starring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve was pretty cool for a while. I digress. No, my biggest issue is the target audience being so far removed from me - if it's for the juniors to enjoy it's fine by me... saying that, I would have found the silliness patronising even when I was a child, I used to despise being patronised by adults who assumed that 'stupid' would satisfy little kids. 🤷♂️
Pity. Marvellous imagery, classy looking drama... unfortunately for me, written (by? or) for a lower age group than mine. And it made up a whole bunch of new rules for vampires which is irksome.
That is one of the best parts of this drama. It's so rare to see ml being smitten first and so early on.
Thanks for your reply. We're looking for FL smitten first?... Unless you replied to me by mistake, I think your list is a mixed bag, here's a few I don't really agree with, or ones that are nuanced...
Abyss: FL was Kim Sa-rang in episode 1 and she was definitely not smitten first - by the original ML... King the Land's own Mr Ahn!
I also noted above that Secret Garden was ML smitten first, I've seen it 4 times, Kim Joo-won chases Gil Ra-im, not the other way round.
My Love from the Star... seemed about 50/50 to me.
Goblin... when Eun-tak first says "sarang-hae" it's firmly tongue-in-cheek... like "whatever", romance builds at about 50/50 if I'm being generous, but really the Goblin was looking for his bride first, don't you think?
Bong-soon loved her detective friend first, didn't she, not Hyung-sik's character? Does that count as FL smitten first?
