Lishan arc gotta be one of the best arcs I've seen in a cdrama for sure at this point. So much raw emotions, and superb portrayal by the actors.

Looks like they kept the Emperor the same as the novel, 'A paranoid Emperor'.

I'm honestly happy that the writer didn't turn him into a good guy. So much more interesting this way as well.

What is this comment supposed to even do with the context of the drama?

For me, this is more of a healing story about two damaged people. All those romance, political intrigues, etc. are secondary, and I don't think the director and writer even intended this drama to be one, since many of the planning and scheming even took place off-screen and we were given only what's related to the two leads.

I'm sure the source material of this drama will be your cup of tea. I liked reading it as well. But, I'm glad the drama turned out this way because this is such a unique piece of art.

It's not exactly reputation. They were protecting their principles and righteousness until their last breath, that they will not bow to the usurpers.

It's kind of difficult to fully get it with our modern eyes though... but that should have been such an honorable act that there were lots of such precedents in their history.

You comment reminds me of why I like this version of MXY a lot, because he shows emotions and can sometime let his emotions lead him.

Like in one of the earlier episodes, he confronted the Marquis in the court despite knowing it's not the best move at the time. He failed. Our 'perfect' lead characters would never make such mistake for sure.

Some interpret it as 'Home' as in where she feels home. I think it's pretty accurate.

The divorce is not even the biggest event/issue in the story. 😂 Don't worry about it too much, they love each other.

Drama is pretty good. If you have interest, give it a try. Be sure to watch it till ep 5 so that you can get the vibe of the story properly.

They spoke out, and acted on it as well. Withdrawing to the mountain is equivalent to withdrawing from politics, which is also a form of protest via not supporting something which was against their principle.

Don't forget they were one of the largest factions in the court back then, and their every move affected the politics. Which resulted in Empress Dowager not being able to ascend the throne herself. And, which is also why the Empress Dowager faction's response was that hard handed.

You said they holed up out of fear. I don't think that's the case at all. If they valued their life so much, why would they even decide to go against Empress Dowager?

As far as I've read, Confucian scholars value righteousness over life, which was the case in the drama and is a form of 'death by remonstrance'. This is right in their teachings and culture. So, in that context, what they did was in line with the context of its period.

They are back together, but it's even sadder now...

I was like, oh the pace is quite calm this episode.

Drama says "Hold my tea🍵" and wrecked me with all those feels and sadness 😭

She is more broken than we have thought...

She is just going about her daily life but melancholy is permeating everywhere. I just can't help but choke up.

Really an emotionally intense episode.
