The word 'second wife' needs to be cleared up a bit imo.
Lin family is not royal family. So, there is no 'Secondary Wife/Consort' rank like royal family does. For them, it's one principal wife, and then concubines and Tongfangs.
On the other hand, a 'Second Wife / Successor Wife' is a principal wife whom the husband marries after the first wife has passed away or divorced. She holds the exact same legal status as the first wife—she just chronologically comes second. This is what Lanxiang will eventually become.
Probably late night...yest it was up late.. Same happened with TRTS...one episode was released in afternoon n…
Yes, happened with the recent Tencent drama express episodes. I noticed it with The First Jasmine, then TRTS and now Against the Current. Had to get express coz of my impatient ass.
And you left us with that preview where FL meets ML!? Oh the cruelty!
ngl, Zhao Xing Tang was written and acted so well. In the span of just two episodes, we saw her plight, curelty, and indifference. I felt both sympathy and unease toward her. I like it when the support characters are not one dimensional.

Of course, there will be romance down the line, but that's a long way to go.
(This synopsis truly needs to be updated lol 😂)
The novel on the other hand is 11/10 on toxicity scale.
So far it's going strong. Have fun watching when you pick it up.
Story is pretty heavy tho, and romance is not the focus (at least won't be for a good while).
