They spoke out, and acted on it as well. Withdrawing to the mountain is equivalent to withdrawing from politics, which is also a form of protest via not supporting something which was against their principle.

Don't forget they were one of the largest factions in the court back then, and their every move affected the politics. Which resulted in Empress Dowager not being able to ascend the throne herself. And, which is also why the Empress Dowager faction's response was that hard handed.

You said they holed up out of fear. I don't think that's the case at all. If they valued their life so much, why would they even decide to go against Empress Dowager?

As far as I've read, Confucian scholars value righteousness over life, which was the case in the drama and is a form of 'death by remonstrance'. This is right in their teachings and culture. So, in that context, what they did was in line with the context of its period.

They are back together, but it's even sadder now...

Because Ye Li's other personalities need logical internal reasoning for their existence.

I believe in prior scene, Li Feibai said Master Zhu has already went back to Lishan. So, Master Zhu no longer exists with her in Ye Li's mind, and no emergency martial arts surfaced like previous occassions because Master Zhu is not here.

Yes, same with blood spitting as well, so that it's easier for the audience to visually interpret the characters' state of emotion. Hence I don't mind them that much.

Plus, grey/white hair looks good in cdrama, so that's a huge plus. 😁

Just like blood spitting in cdramas, I've already accepted this instant hair greying as one of the tropes. It's even more closer to reality in comparison. So, personally, I don't find it that bothering ahaha

May be dramatized a bit since it's a drama. But, both the genetic aspect and stress accelerating hair greying are facts.

It's subtle, but it's there. Not the hot and steamy kind though. Have fun watching.
