Imo, that was pretty clear that both families compromised. As Madam Qin said, no one can have everything go their way in life. Lin family went out gun blazing, forced Yuan family's hands, and squeezed as much as they can for Xiuru.

Xiuru's motive wasn't love alone, but also for her kids' future. She secured that, so she'll have to compromise some.
