FL character works fine for me, in fact it's one of the reasons I'm continuing because this character got layers and I'm interested in its development.
Though, this is not the kind of character for all audience types, that's for sure. Personally, I'm just glad we are getting something unusual. I'll let the drama cook.

That was actually in her character. She's staying true to herself by also thinking for herself and not purely just 'for love', 'for family', 'for reputation' etc like other character archtypes. Say what we will about Lady Li, but Shou An Jun, Lady Li, and Wei Rao... they truly are blood related.
While WR may not love LZ deeply yet, it's apparent that she cares for him a lot now, a lot more than she does for others. But, both of them need to regain their bearing before proceeding the next steps.

Went in with no expectation and I liked it more than I thought I would.
The plot is solid so far, lots of room for development. The best part is the characters. Both lead characters feel human, have very distinct personalities, and quite likeable despite their flaws and not so perfect sides.
I'm neutral for both lead actors, but gotta say I actually quite like MZY in this role, much more than her other recent ones.
All in all, this is a solid opening. I'm looking forward to next episodes.
