I'm not sure which episode you are at, but the tone, vibe, and plot shifted already in the recent episodes.
It's predictable from the day 1 though. It's the same in both the drama and its source material, it's a cliche fes.
This story has always been a romance focused story first and foremost. If you want something more plot driven, this drama might not be for you imo. I don't think the remaining episodes will get better for you in that sense.

But from Wei Shao's perspective, he's in the middle of the two things he cherished the most in his life, his brother, and his wife. So, he's feeling both angry and desperate. It's somewhat understandable for him to make such illogical statements.. And add his superb interpersonal skills to that. 😂
I loved his scenes so much! I'll have to rewatch it later like I did for the painting
Ikr! Also, in terms of nuances, Liu Dan Dan's Wei Yan far exceeds how this character was described in the novel. I was more emotionally connected with WY in the drama.
Wei Yan surely was the highlight of today's episodes. Liu Dan Dan really did this character justice. An apt performance for such a layered character. Brought out all the conflicts within his heart.
Ep24 and 25 were so good! Totally brought back the vibe from the beginning of the story. And Ep 26 and 27 trailers look promising as well. I'm pumped!!! 🤩🤩
I can see why they had to scale down the deer hunt event. Would have been nice if it was adapted as it is in the novel. Tens of thousands of Wei army soldiers surrounding the arena, and the events taking place in the center. And, Manman beating the ceremonial drum to open the grand event. Would have looked so grand. But, no complaint for what we got as well.
On a side note, the drama do keep the main events from the novel so far. I'm ready for the ride!!

That answer perfectly encapsulates their relationship dynamic at this moment. They are attracted to each other, but there are still walls that's keeping them from truly becoming one.
I'm actually glad we are finally back on this track. The tension and the complex nature of their relationship is back.
Ep21: man... now that we reach this part about the inscription, how I wish they would put in THAT scene from the extra chapter in the drama, though chances are extremely low. 😆

The same applies to Xiao Qiao also. The changes the drama team made were so tasteful so far. Really appreciate what they did with the adaptation.

Though, in the novel, it was like a 30 ft tall and 40-50 ft wide mountain top, which left Xiao Qiao totally speechless. xD
SInce we already know some stuffs won't definitely make it to the screen, my expectation for those were properly placed as well.

It seems like he actually doesn't have any feeling toward FL. But, we are only half way so difficult to say for now. He's not meddlesome so far.
