Hmmmmm, for people complaining that it is childish and not funny. First of all, I don't think the drama is trying to be comedic or to make us laugh out loud. Most of the seemingly comedic parts are the characters deliberately acting that way. For example, the part in ep 2 when they wanted to get rid of the extra women who would be spies. Secondly, both JBZ and MY are deceiving one another for now. He's using her, she's using him, we can see that she acting all cute is just what it is supposed to be: AN ACT. The whole story is yet to unfold.
Seriously, had to block that James whatever person because they were totally not getting the point and I think…
Blocked him/her already yesterday. I've encountered him/her in other comment sections and he/she never has anything good to say. Better to block people like that than endure reading their ridiculous takes.
And I also understand your points about improving mental health and putting better structures in place to protect their young people. But these actions don't have to be mutually exclusive. I rest my case.
Hello, can you tell me why the reborn plot is banned in China? Is it against some major religion there? Thank…
You didn't explain properly their reasons for banning these things.
For LGBTQ, BL dramas were allowed before. Cue the drama "The Untamed" with Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo. The chaos that ensued from all that was part of the reason they stopped producing BL dramas. You can research more on that if you want to.
For the time travel, it is still somewhat allowed, especially with modern dramas if there is a scientific explanation e.g. "Reset".
For fantasy elements, what is the "Xianxia" genre about? πππ
For the historical dramas about previous emperors, they don't want their history to be viewed in such a bad light. But still, it's not as if it's a secret. Which country does not have it's share of terrible leaders. [This particular rule is one I don't fully understand, I'm not Chinese].
Western lifestyle, oh please, don't make me laugh. They want to preserve their culture. Are Western values, clothing and behaviour superior or so special? Chinese culture is deep, rich and so beautiful, who would want to see it overshadowed by the west. I wish my culture could be as grounded as theirs is.
Lastly, I am not saying China is a perfect country. Nowhere in the world is perfect. Most of these censorship rules have affected dramas that I have looked forward to and could have enjoyed immensely e.g. Unchained Love with Dylan Wang. I am not happy with most of the rules either, but I understand the reasons for them.

πππππ Yes, the best solution to prevent the young people from taking their lives is to censor what they watch and are exposed to. My response was based on the wrong info you gave of their reasons for banning rebirth/reincarnation content. I didn't say anything about the other content they banned.
Oh, I know how China works. You and most people may not like how they run their country, but at the end of the day, it is THEIR country. The people that choose to stay there know they have to live by the rules. If you don't like it, why consume/watch their content only to complain incessantly about it?

Banning/censorship of rebirth dramas was not due to controlling the population. They were trying to prevent further tragedies from happening, because some of their young people were committing suicide in the hopes of having a chance to be reborn and start the lives all over.
This was because of the rebirth/reincarnation stories that were common in C-dramas back then.

Wow, how can you write such blatant non truths? You could at least try to make some research instead of making wild and untrue assumptions. Banning/censorship of rebirth dramas was not due to controlling the population.
Your last four words are absolutely ridiculous.

I don't understand people that simp over SMLs.
This Chu Zhao in particular is sooooo annoying.
Wait a minute, we were talking about rebirth dramas here. A lot of people are influenced greatly by what they watch. Some people hold on to these dramas so much that it totally consumes them. If them censoring/banning it prevents tragedies from happening. I'm all for it.
And I also understand your points about improving mental health and putting better structures in place to protect their young people. But these actions don't have to be mutually exclusive.
I rest my case.
What is juvenile about my thinking based on my response?
Please do enlighten me most knowledgeable one, lol.
