Yes, I would say out of the 90s cohort of xiaohua, they’re definitely the two biggest contenders in my mind in terms of expressiveness, lines, and the ability to empathise. They are also the two I think show the most promise in being able to transform from idol dramas into more demanding and mature roles as time goes on.

She’s very promising. Most of her best acting has been in the mainstream dramas but most foreign fans only have access to the idol ones.

Xiao Feng is fine with being a crown princess, she just can’t bear Li Chengyin’s “love” (a lot of it ends up being abuse in the later stages). It has nothing to do with being naive and gullible. Tbh, she is the most sober of the two. She is the one who understands most what should have happened after the fall of Danchi and her ending is the ending Li Chengyin should have expected from the minute he decided to betray her. He only added to it when he created a situation where there was no way out for her.

They were ugly but the fact that they got more outrageous with time was hilarious. I really want to see their outtakes. I bet both of them are absolute comedians 😂 Yes, she’s so fierce, fiercer than I imagined. I saw a post asking Hongmei to handle Danyang with a bit more care.😂

I thought it was based off of some form of media or something because some followers seem to have a reference for some of the characters but it’s a VERY loose adaptation from the looks of it.

I understand and I also like Li Yi Tong too. She was so good in Royal Nirvana 🥰 It is sad that good and pretty actresses seem to be getting ignored but a lot of the so called “popularity” is mostly marketing nowadays. For PXR, Hua Mei is airing next week and the quality of it looks decent. For rumored dramas, there’s two but it’s always good to wait until the official announcement because casting changes a lot. In the meantime, you can also check out the Story of the Mystics page which is full of Reuters and the progress of her dancing skills while filming her unit.

I hope she can take on better roles as well. Tbh, she doesn’t even need a big production or a massive crew to shine- she just needs a normal director and production company. A lot of people don’t realise JJL and RoaTF were shot by the same director. Others don’t know that her role in SJFY was massively edited and a lot of her scenes gutted and rearranged out of order, which had an effect on her too. These are the three shows most foreign fans think of when they question the quality of her dramas but her appearances in non costume dramas are okay and some performances have even been praised. Even her cameo in Yu Zheng’s latest drama was praised.
So, there’s no harm in cameos/support roles while she waits. Not everyone in C-ent has the background to get good scripts and productions. And a lot of support roles have really blown up this year.
As a fan of her dramas, a cameo is better than not filming and having nothing to watch. Plus acting in dramas with others actresses can show her strengths to the audience. Opinions on her looks and acting skills are finally turning around after years of slander. She also gets to try roles she couldn’t do as a lead and it seems to be giving her a boost.
