I feel like this is a drama that requires you to completely ignore Weibo. There’s just too many pre-conceived notions of what actors and actresses can do, too many blood sucking parties that are rubbing the interest in this drama so they can stay relevant, and so much obvious anti-fan rhetoric.
Waaaah peng xiao ran another identity disguise and princess identity. Should I staet this?
I recommend it. The female lead is awesome and has a lot of personality. The first episode has to get through a lot so is a bit awkward but after that the drama seems to be getting better and better.
I just saw ep 1 and I am already hooked!!! I am already in love with the chemistry between FL and ML :)!!! FSF…
I also think FSF and PXR have chemistry!!! In the first episode, they look so good visually because he just looks so big and strong against PXR and that’s a dynamic I can eat to death. I also like that Yu Xiuming encourages Ye Lingshuang from the first time he meets her. I really like characters who are ruthless to the rest of the world but are devoted and treat their love well.

By the third episode, the show starts feeling pretty solid which is a big change from the usual first ten episodes you can skip rule a lot of other Cdramas have. (even the classics) After three episodes, I love Ye Zi even more. Loved seeing her defend another woman and then using her brains to get out of the situation alive. The scenes when she’s trying to impress her boss are also cute. FSF grows on me more and more. I swear he gets more and more handsome with each episode ðŸ˜
After watching the first episode, I have a lot of thoughts but I’ll definitely be watching this until the end. It really feels like a miracle for this show to be airing so I won’t judge on plot, post production or pacing because what’s airing wasn’t the original vision. I’ll be focusing on the characters and costuming which I think are pretty good even though the scenery in Yebei is hit or miss (I read a rumor that apparently the crew wanted to film on a real site but Covid prevented them.) That said, I like that we aren’t being beaten to death by filters. You can see details I really like Ye Lingshuang so much. She’s independent, rebellious, brave, and caring. She’s really first in my heart now out of PXR’s characters. I also like Yu Xiuming. I thought he looked pretty decent. The differences in physique add to his charm and the interplay between the two characters is cute.
The voice dubber for Jun Jiu Ling wasn’t very good tbh. I think this dub was chosen because the voice is close…
The voice dubber for Jun Jiu Ling missed a lot of the nuances in the character. If you watch the original sound series with PXR’s real voice, there’s a massive difference. I think the best dubber outside of PXR was Xiao Feng’s dub but that dubber is known for being very good. I’m actually not sure why they didn’t use the original sound tbh either.

The casting of FSF is casting to fit the book the drama is based off. In fact FSF is actually younger than the character he is based off. It’s also the same team as Goodbye My Princess for all the clothing and props. If this is not your bag, I would check out To Our Dreamlandof Ice and Snow. It’s pretty high quality and she’s gorgeous in it.
For those who have already watched, how's it looking?
I like it so far. I actually really like FSF’s acting and I like the interplay between him and PXR. It’s good to see her acting with a lead that can match her level. There’s a bit of a gap in her skills but it’s nothing horrible. Like others said it seems to be harkening back to old school dramas.

Yeah, I’m hoping there will be some by tonight. If not I’ll just watch in Chinese and watch again since I’ve already realised I’ll be watching this on repeat 😂Tho, I’m not quite sure why they broadcast ahead of schedule, most Chinese fans are probably still at work.
Anyone who have read this novel, is there multiple couples? I see many main characters on the cast list.
This show had a lot of edits so it may not be that close to the book but there’s a main love triangle , possibly a vice couple, and then some relationship dynamics of varying degrees.
