Zhu Zhengting is indeed an idol and is a trained dancer.

She’s actually played quite a few roles including mainstream dramas. Most people think her acting started with GMP but she was in Win the World and had done a number of cameos and small roles when she was on IQIYI.
For now, I think she may be typecast into the foreign princess look but she’s been very smart about the roles she’s choosing . It’s more like she’s figured how to use what’s been a sort of “curse” over her to her advantage and as a fan I am willing to put up with the same visuals if she can get better scripts and production values. Look at this drama, she’s a young non class actor with no backing acting with a recognised actor. She wouldn’t haven’t have gotten such a role if she didn’t have the visual advantage. Plus, she’s very good at shaping characters and her roles really don’t feel the same. Ye Lingshuang is nothing like Xiao Feng other than in looks. I’ve been watching the show and there’s never been a moment when I’ve seen Xiao Feng in Ye Lingshuang. So if it works for her to be the undisputed foreign princess for now, I’d play to that strength to produce good works or upgrade myself until I can branch out.
She’s also got 3 dramas in stock and she plays a head-hunter, a police officer, and an ancient businesswoman respectively so there are still more roles to come.

I don’t and I caught a ban already for too many posts so I dare not do anything more on this site. I know there’s at least one twitter account that does try to post about her regularly but I don’t know it’s name.

Yeah, I see people complaining about her acting but seeing as she’s recognised as being a decent actor, I feel like it’s the same problem as JJL. The dubbing doesn’t stick to the face or always match the mood.
About the editing, I guess when the censor makes cuts, if you fix it, it must have to be re-examined and it’s possible production didn’t want to risk it and aired things as-is. Youku might have also made cuts, I remember GMP got panned for some plot points until the directors cut. I’m grateful to see this cut but I totally understand and agree with the fans on Weibo saying they want to see the master tape.

I can’t wait. On second watch the bones of a good drama are there, it’s just the editing (and dub) getting in the way.

Just did a rewatch and the more I watch it, the more I really love Ye Lingshuang’s character design and understand why PXR chose this script. So far Ye Zi really is the rare and independent heroine. Thankfully, the show is showcasing her brains, which is becoming a highlight to me because Cdrama really needs more female characters like her.
Not even the heroine kryptonite of the big handsome general coming to flirt fazes my girl and I gotta respect that 😂😂😂.
Also really loving the astrology bureau section!!! Haha Ye Zi is really all about her career. Her first day of work is such a cute scene and it’s cool to seeing her working her brains to find a solution to the emperor’s problem.

The show does get better with each episode. I feel like I was a little too loud in the beginning 😅.
I heard up to episode 8 has been released on domestic Youku. Hopefully we’ll get them this week for English subs. I think the next release isn’t for awhile, like next week.

I like the chemistry too! Even now in the beginning stages, it’s really cute how they interact. I really can’t wait for it to turn into love proper.

The show has been cut to pieces to pass the censorship trial. They cut ten episodes. I think nearly all of the first run of Yebei is gone and the first episode reflects that. Episode 2 is much better and the show so far has been getting better with each episode.

For some reason, PXR dramas get a lot of complaints in the beginning. Not really sure why😅. Hopefully it will calm down.

No, it was originally 35 or 36 episodes but was cut to 25 to pass the censorship trial. There is a chance if there’s enough popularity they may add episodes or scenes like GMP or JJL but I don’t think that will happen with this drama.

I never thought about that aspect. Do you think that’s why he’s searching for the Mirror of Youth? The implication for A’Rui seems to be that she’s dead or missing. Ye Zi learning about her death is supposed to be a major plot point. I have a feeling she finds out when Yi Wuyou shows up.

Watched up to episode 5 and I’m really liking the story so far. Hope Ye Lingshuang continues to be smart, daring, and brave.

It’s from Shining Just For You. It’s from the trailer. PXR’s empress looks are really amazing. There’s one with a beaded chain that is xianxia perfection.

I think PXR is very lucky too. FSF is older but he’s handsome and his acting suits the character perfectly. He is a respected actor with a name so for PXR to be a non class actress invited to play opposite is an honour for her and also a recognition of her skills. As for the gap, it’s not a big gap that will ruin a scene or make it awkward. It’s just more you can tell FSF is a more experienced actor. They still go toe to toe and play off each other well, and most of FSF fans seem to be satisfied with her acting so I’d say she’s doing an alright job.

I’m so glad about the lack of filters tho😅 GMP and JJL basically filtered PXR to death, to the point where people say she can’t look good without them…so if they’re complaining about a lack of filters but also say she’s good looking, I’ll take that.😂

If Peng Xiao Ran is on the scene, there’s going to be angst😂😭😂

I’m wondering if some of the editing wasn’t done by the original party but by Youku. I know they do cut stuff, sometimes without regard for the storytelling. It’s just some scenes are super well shot and transitioned while some look like they’ve been hacked with a butter knife.
