I wouldn’t worry too much. I think she’s okay for projects. A good chunk of 2023 was spent filming The Legend. And then 2024 was basically non-stop filming as FL. The only reason she hasn’t filmed this year is because she was shooting a variety show otherwise she would have shot at least one drama so far.
A lot of people were worried about her guest appearances but I think they were either favours or chances to work with different directors and different characters than she would be able to as a FL. That said, I really can’t wait for this show. Ling Cangcang seems like a really interesting character. She really seems like she has her own mind whether her actions are good are bad. It feels like a character with the potential for a lot of spirit and growth- which Xiao Ran is quite good at portraying.
Nah, the editors are very rarely mentioned personally even though they need to be. I feel the quality of director usually indicates the quality of the editor though. I can’t figure out the level of Love and Crown because some of it’s promo is outsourced.
S+ has nothing to do with quality nowadays unfortunately. It’s just about how much money was spent. I doubt they will drastically shorten the drama at this point though. If it’s passed the review with 37-38 episodes I think it should be okay but in this case shortening may not be a problem if the original script was only 25 episodes long. The extra 13 episodes might not be essential to the story. They might be filler.
Not necessarily a bad thing. I heard the original script was only 25-30 episodes apparently. It all depends on the editor, platform and producers. Cuts are only a problem if the editor is bad or producers/platform doesn’t care about the integrity of the story. Huamei lost a few episodes but I don’t think it affected the show much because it was a decent team who knew when and how to cut. Then there’s Shining Just For You…as an example of what not to do😅
It has been 2 years and this drama still remains one of the few shows which I will still occasionally come back…
I’ve rewatched this drama several times too. It is really unique in how the main couple naturally develop a healthy relationship. There’s never a question of how did they fall for each other. And, the plot while simple, is pretty straightforward and easy to understand. I think if the producers had been more careful about hair and makeup for the female cast and found a director who could shoot people well, it probably would have been a hit.
pls can anyone recommend a historical cdrama based on politics ( not xianxia ) like the double ??
The Double is more romance than political but if you want a high class political revenge story then Nirvana in Fire is definitely top of the list. If you want more of a mix of romance and politics then I recommend Rise of the Phoenixes and Goodbye, My Princess. There’s also Wu Jinyan’s older dramas like Story of Yanxi Palace and The Legend of Haolan. They might feel similar in vibe to The Double.
For those who have read the novel (is there a novel??), is Jia Lan a real character from the story? I watched…
She’s a character made up for the drama from my understanding but I’ve heard in the manga, The Black Fox Lady does have match-though it’s not like the Jialan +Jiuhuo match.
i just finished and and just skimmed through till the ending because i got spoiled with just everything so now…
They didn’t win completely but they did manage to alter some events. I think most people are used to complete victories but this show’s ending is a partial victory.
