I may not like the Female Lead, but she really needs a manager. The director of the show is an a**h*** and she…
Your comments are spot on about the show, and none development of the female characters, and yea, the guys don't come across too well either. This is probable why none of the major stations picked up the show. Still, it's a light hearted watch and hasn't made me want to throw something at the screen yet, and it's a light break from other heavy dramas.
This is actually a nice easy show to watch if you're looking for a break to all the heavy kdramas out there now. It won't stretch your brain and it's predictable, and the male lead acting is only so-so, but to my surprise, it's watchable. And here am I, at Episode 7, actually enjoying it more than I though I would.
I just wonder why, with so many idol actors out there, that they couldn't have got one who could sing and dance because it's obvious this ML can't.
I basically think of it as a web drama, so my expectations of it was low, so because I didn't expect much from it, I could enjoy it, with the ML finding himself falling for the FL, little by little. Go in with low expectations and you'll enjoy the show.
Can we talk about the garden scene in episode 4? I don't see a single comment about it, which is a shame because…
Oh I love that Garden part too! Where he walks, plants die and the world goes dark, but she lights up his world, bringing him colour and light, which yes. shocked and confused him. It reminded me of Goblin actually, the flower scenes, the battlefield, those beautifully filmed parts.
I love Park Bo Young here, she's never looked better , and she aces her role. Seo In Guk is similarly great here, he kinda reminds me of Lucifer (American TV show), full of angst about the role he's forced to play as Doom, and like Lucifer, in denial that he wants to be loved and accepted. Both have great chemistry.
The show excels at start and end parts, the in-between, to be honest, gets a little boring. I really don't care about the writer and the two guys, their story doesn't really seem to fit in - you can just cut out their parts and it wouldn't make a difference to the story. Maybe because the chemistry between our two leads is so strong, and the acting so good, but I can't muster up any interest in caring about any of these 3. I don't even know why they're in the show - they haven't showed enough of them and their backstories for me to be interested, and they just seem shoehorned in. I literally start nodding off when they appear.
But just when I start falling asleep and thinking this show is a bore, wham, bam!, they give a fantastic ending. Every episode ending has always a surprise, a grand gesture, and I love it.
I wish I care about the other three, but I don't. The stories don't interact so I don't care about their triangle. At least they didn't saddled our FL with a SML, I think the dynamic struggle between both generate enough sparks to carry the show. And that's what I look forward to.
somehow IMHO Splash Splash Love seems a more enjoyable watch than this—probably bcos the FL have some good comedic…
Splash Splash Love is a far superior show obviously - the leads there are better actors. I agree with your opinions. It's one of the few kdramas I rewatch whenever I just need a sweet, short break. It never fails to make me a little sad at the ending, but in a nice way.
This show obviously took a lot of notes from SSL, especially the ending, but I enjoy it nevertheless. It still had that sad poignant air of a love that could never be, because, hey, time travel rules etc etc. Still, it was a light break and I don't apply the same standards of an expensive kdrama to a web drama so my expectations were lower.
It could have been one of the best dramas in crime / thriller genre if the screenwriter wasn’t been overly ambitious…
Worst, they added it all in the last few episodes when they actually had 24 episodes to tell a compelling story that was already complicated enough. This is when they're trying to be so smart till they confuse themselves!
Also, this Kdrama must hold some sort of record for the fastest handholding, end of Ep1 and moving in suggestion, from the FL no less, by Episode 2 ending.
It could have been one of the best dramas in crime / thriller genre if the screenwriter wasn’t been overly ambitious…
Yea I agree with you. If it had been a pure psychopath crime thriller story, it might have been better. There was more than enough material. Like you, I think the writer bite off more than they can chew and the story started veering into confusion and being a little ridiculous. I guess they couldn't make LSG the bad boy because he's always been known as a good guy, and so they had to write the story with some redeeming arc.
I also think that's why they had to do all those 4 special episodes because they had to rescue the story, the storyline, plot holes, and confusion with so many characters, and who's who. They probably needed to buy time to finish the story properly and rewrite it.
Is Ms. Choi daughter of that police and amnesiac wife?
Yes she is. They've shown many instances of it and the scenes of it already. She felt so guilty for helping to cause the young lady's death by luring her, hence why she's never gone home. Also, I would imagine, added burden of her younger brother's death, and she wasn't able to look after him
There has never been a kdrama with one special recap, plus 2 special episodes and a theatrical release - all before episode 17. I get the feeling the story editing and direction left too many holes and they got too clever with the story, with too many characters, too many story lines, till even they got confused, so they had to do all these special episodes to give them time to clean it up and clarify it. That also gave them the time to properly tell the story linearly and it showed in Ep 18.
While Ep 18 had plot holes and plot devices to fill in the storyline, it certainly flow a lot better than the last few episodes. The show could have been better directed, written and edited if they had not gotten it overly complicated and it got too smart and weaved so many storylines till no one remembered many of the characters and I've seen people confused about who's related to who, even on on some reviews here.
At least Ep 18 picked up the pace and I can see the ending coming. It certainly was 4 extras unnecessary, and I was almost ready to give it up last week. I'll stick with it to the bitter and tragic end. There's no way this show ends with any happiness for anybody.
I haven't been loving most of the kdramas this year and didn't finish most of them. But this, just at episode 2, has got me wanting more. Truly, Park Bo Young is such a great actress. And she's got great chemistry with Seo In Guk, who makes a great devilish Lucifer-like Doom.
She got me feeling sad for her, as I see her processing the fact she's got 98 days more to live, especially when she flipped through her diary and realized how short a time she has, and yet, she doesn't really know what to do to make the most of it. Park Bo Young kills in this role, her eyes expressing her melancholy and realisation that she hasn't really had time to live for herself and her dreams, just survived so far.
I can't wait for Doom to fall in love with her. I'm sure the ending or the 2nd last episode will have me weeping. I can see that coming already. And I still want to watch it. I hope the rest of the episodes are as good!
Strong Girl Do Bong Soon has grown up and become a beautiful woman! The opening shot of her was stunning - she looked absolutely beautiful! I couldn't stop staring at how pretty she is!
This first episode was so good - starting from her FML day when anything and everything went wrong, from morning till night. I could relate to that - I've had days, weeks, months when my life seem to careen from bad to worse. Being told she's only got 3 months to live was just the culmination to a bad life so far. We've seen woe is me and my crappy life story in Kdramas before but hey, there's a Fairy Godfather of Doom around who is ready to grant her a wish!
Poor girl - she deserved to have something good happen to her and surprising, it did, in the form of Doom himself. Now the fun begins. Can't wait to see the next episode! Promising start.
BTW, the title, "Doom at your service", I've read that the acronym is DAYS. I guess it's for the 99 days she has left to live her best life.
What a little gem this show is! If you love "Splash Splash Love" like I do, and think it's one of the best mini kdrama series out there, you'll love this too! It's also known as "Will You Leave" and I just binged watched all 4 episodes tonight! I've been on a dry Kdrama spell and haven't been able to go beyond one episode of all the current raging hot favs airing now but this, at 30 minutes in, was a fun light watch.
It's crazy checking the ages of the 4 leads, I was surprise that the 2nd female lead is even younger than the Female lead, and the male lead is so young! I recognised him from True Beauty and he's pretty funny here - a updated version of Rooftop Prince but better. So loving this show.
It does have its shortcomings, it's not perfect. It leaves gaps in its storyline and time travelling tropes but at only 30 minutes, 8 episodes, it has to cover quite a bit so I can close an eye to them. Overall, I recommend checking this show out - a delightful light watch, considering the heavyweights showing out there now - Vincenzo, Sisyphus: The Myth, Mouse, Beyond Evil, LUCA, etc. I can't wait for the remaining 4 episodes to come even if I can predict how they'll go.
I am officially in love with Startup. It is so good. It makes me laugh, smile and cry.
I chose the right show to restart my Kdrama life again. I've got my Kdrama mojo back - and all due to the brilliant show and its awesome stars. Great script, great directing, great production, Startup is simply my new obsession.
I cried. It was beautiful. One of the best kdramas this year - and amazingly, it's 15 minutes web series, not one hour 15 minutes per episode! Great story, production, animation, acting and a beautiful storyline. About how each of us, our lives have meaning, especially if we were lucky enough to have friends and families who loved us and stayed with us till the end.
It was supposed to be 10 episodes, I wonder if it was cut down to 9 because of Covid-19? I hope it's not because of ratings because this show deserves awards and love. See the parallel like his life - short and cut shot but what a quality life he had lead - no regrets.

Ok , ok, I've been off most popular kdramas the last one year but it does seem an unusual amount of comments for a new show!
I also think that's why they had to do all those 4 special episodes because they had to rescue the story, the storyline, plot holes, and confusion with so many characters, and who's who. They probably needed to buy time to finish the story properly and rewrite it.
