On a side note. solipsism5 or any others, can anyone help me find where Bad Buddy now is in the Top Shows list?Or…
MDL only shows the rating up to 1 digit.
Both Red Sleeve and Bad Buddy have 8.8 rating. It means that let's say Red Sleeve has a rating of 8.855 and Bad Buddy has a rating of 8.854, then Red Sleeve will be ranked above Bad Buddy by rating. Only the people who knows the back end of MDL knows this, and not all of us who only sees the rounded rating.
(What I don't understand is why Red Sleeve is rated higher since if you hover over the 8.8 rating you can see the breakdown by those who are currently watching, completed, dropped the show and verified/star ranking. In three out of four categories, Bad Buddy has higher rank than Red Sleeve. If I were to suspect, it's because the ones who dropped Bad Buddy, which is way fewer than Red Sleeve, rated it much worse at 4.04 as compared to Red Sleeve's 5.49)
Comparison:
Currently watching - Bad Buddy (9.31) vs Red Sleeve (8.98) Completed - Bad Buddy (7.96) vs Red Sleeve (7.57) Dropped - Bad Buddy (4.04) vs Red Sleeve (5.49) Verified/Stars Ranking - Bad Buddy (8.42) vs Red Sleeve (8.11)
There are very, very few people who dropped Bad Buddy, only 46. So I don't understand why Bad Buddy is lower ranked, considering that it has more viewers, popularity and ratings by number as compared to Red Sleeve.
On a side note. solipsism5 or any others, can anyone help me find where Bad Buddy now is in the Top Shows list?Or…
Thank you very much! Much appreciated with the insight. Yes, I missed out that status button on the left hand side. I wish they can compare all series whether ongoing or completed as well together.
Yes, it's never possible to accurately or objectively compare any series in MDL. That's why it's best to just compare within each genre, and for Thai BL series, among Thai BL series only.
We need more people in MDL to watch Bad Buddy. Out there, there are a lot of people watching Bad Buddy, but it seems the MDL viewers are increasing really slowly (I am sure it will eventually rise more)
I just realised that we have just passed Tonhon Chonlatee in popularity. It was so-so to me and I find it either amusing or even frustrating that a series like Bad Buddy (with rating of 8.8 in MDL) and Tonhon Chonlatee (with a rating of 7.1 in MDL, worse than many Thai BL series, even average ones) have just barely the same number of watchers here.
MDL, can you please consider putting the number of comments as part of the measure of how popular a series is? And not just by pure number of watchers. That will be fairer comparison in my opinion.
I still don't get this ranking system. Bad Buddy is now 66 but it's not listed under 66 under top shows. It's…
So yes, unfortunately, the Top Shows in MDL will be biased, quite a lot in fact. And those with (huge) advantages are:
1. Chinese or Korean in origin (if you scroll through the top shows, you can see that vast, vast majority are those. The same applies for ratings and popularity as well)
2. Length of time since show was aired (and it will advantage older series), but with the condition that it must have very good ratings as well. Chinese and Korean series tend to have better ratings too I feel, and that is by no small input, caused by their actors and actresses' popularity)
(Partly because if you see, MDL viewers also favour Chinese and Korean actors and actresses by a lot more than any others. Literally all top actors and actresses, and almost all of the top 100 are Chinese or Korean actors/actresses.)
Note: I love Chinese and Korean series, actors and actresses too, but I wish there can be more fairness for Thai series, particularly Thai BL series.

Thanks for highlighting this. It is something I also just realised as well.
My best thought is that: The Top Shows are ranked differently from the ranking - what does it mean? It is a combined weight from both rating and popularity. And it (may or may not) also involves the length of time that it has remained high in the rating and popularity.
For example: The Gifted is Top Show #97 despite having rating of 8.6 (still very good) and lesser viewer than Bad Buddy at the moment in MDL.
The Untamed is #10 by rating for example, but #6 by Top Show because it has more watchers (more popular).
What Bad Buddy (and other non-Chinese and non-Korean drama in general) is hampered by (and it's a massive handicap) - is the extreme popularity (in MDL) of Chinese and Korean drama, so much so that it's generally very biased against those that come from non-Chinese and non-Korean origins.
Have you all watched the EP 9 reaction video by Jennie Panhan yet? As mentioned, Jimmy is there too!
And... Bad Buddy has passed 70 million total views in YouTube just earlier tonight :D (There's a chance we may hit 80 million before EP 10 on 7 January!)
We are now at #498 in popularity. Well done Bad Buddy for going into top 500 here in kisskh!
It isn't an easy feat given how crazily popular Chinese and Korean dramas are here among MDL watchers. Quite a few of them have over 100,000 watchers, and many more have in excess of 50,000. Even 2gether and SOTUS only have over 30,000.
It will continue to go up in the coming days for sure!
Sharing this again, in case anyone missed. Someone already shared it earlier.
The World Y Salmon Podcast interview of Ohm and Nanon is already fully subtitled in English! Please watch it when you have time. It was amazing! I'm rewatching again. Really touched with their relationship. Ohm and Nanon, both of you are so good for each other!
Thanks for summarizing it up! For me, I wasn't mad at Pran for apologizing but I'm more upset that he felt like…
Well said!
And my greatest concern was that people end up too overtaken by their hate and emotions for a certain character that it ends up ruining their perception for the entire episode, series and more.
It's ok to hate Wai, but not to the extent that one think how EP 9 is horrible and all because of him, coz that would be overlooking a lot of other things that are great in that episode, and especially Pat and Pran's continuous character and relationship growth.

As we all know, Bad Buddy is a character-driven story especially for Pat and Pran, but the same applies to Wai as well.
I think a lot of times in the past episodes, in order to fully understand their actions, we have to put ourselves in their shoes and see things from their perspective.
From the audience we have this helicopter view of things which make us assuming things that the characters may not be aware of. This is the viewers' bias.

If Bad Buddy goes up to 9.0, which is possible if things get better up to the finale. Then, it can even get higher ranking in the Top Shows.
Fingers crossed!

They arrange by the ratings first. So by that, it means as you said that Bad Buddy should be at least in the Top 50 in Top Shows.
Then the popularity (and maybe length of time, not sure) determine which of those with the same ratings are sorted above or below each other.
(And maybe as I mentioned, since it hasn't finished airing yet, it's not included yet?)
Or maybe it won't be included until it ends airing? Can't seem to find it.
(Based on the Top Shows, Bad Buddy definitely should be less than #50)
(Sorry, you all know I always love stats a lot, and I can't help but being triggered when I saw this post :D)

Legend says that Bad Buddy is actually a mere snippets/spin-off of Ohm and Nanon in real life. XD
Thanks for sharing!

Their relationship has no top or bottom. They are equal. Period.
I think a lot of times in the past episodes, in order to fully understand their actions, we have to put ourselves in their shoes and see things from their perspective.
From the audience we have this helicopter view of things which make us assuming things that the characters may not be aware of. This is the viewers' bias.
What he needs is to win over Wai, who can still complicate their relationship, since he's close to Pran's mum.
