Of course, the other possibility of Pat's dad being romantically involved with Pran's mum is possible too. Have to wait till Pat and Pran finally discover the reason for us to know it!
Parents' relationship idea (just some of my crazy ramblings, don't pay it much heed)
Pat's dad and Pran's dad were rivals much like their sons, but ended up liking each other, again just like their sons. They may have also been rugby players, and Pat's dad lost to Pran's dad before, so that's why he was so determined that Pat should play rugby and win over his rivals.
Then a woman (Pran's mum) came into the picture and got Pran's dad to break up his relationship with Pat's dad and became her boyfriend (and eventually husband) instead. That's why Pat's dad and Pran's mum were particularly bitter against each other. It might have been something that she had done in the past that caused the bitterness and animosity to linger for so long.
And maybe because of misunderstandings caused by Pran's mum, Pat's dad got angry with Pran's dad, and the argument continued between both families, even after they end up in their respective businesses. The love entanglements end up spilling over to their business rivalry (which is just a facade to the real reason of their conflict).
Pat's mum perhaps was someone who knew Pran's mum as well, and maybe were rivals. She used the opportunity to get together with Pat's dad. But otherwise, her animosity towards the other family was nowhere near that of the one between Pat's dad and Pran's mum.
Apparently everything in Bad buddy happens for a reason. I thought Pat coming to Wai's rescue was simply a power…
Do you mean to win his boyfriend's friend over? :D
Thank you for the more in depth analysis! That bar scene is definitely a throwback to EP 2, where Pat now realises that everything he and his gang once did to Wai, was happening all over again.
That time, he was feeling so guilty of having done that, and hurting Pran in the end. Now that he had Pran, he won't let it happen again on his watch.
And for Wai, he has been given second chance by Pat and Pran both. He better makes good use of that chance.
Just a bit on the PatPran hand holding scenes...(Honestly, the best drama couple development, relationship and…
Pat is someone who is willing to through even hell for Pran. That is just how deep his love for Pran is. Those who have read the novel will understand just how deep and enduring this love is.
(That's what novel does best in bringing out a character's persona and especially unspoken internal thoughts - Pat's character remains mostly consistent to the novel)
Pran held Pat's hand in EP 9 [1/4] not just once, but twice, taking the initiative. He wants to show Pat that just as Pat reciprocated the love that Pran hoped to have with him all those years ago, thus, he now also reciprocated his love, and that Pat is not alone in the struggle.
Pat may look like some ideal boyfriend and superhuman, but seriously, he can also be hurting real badly inside (you know how terrible he felt after his dad spoke to him in EP 8).
Just as Pat was always there trying to cheer Pran up, Pran can do the same to Pat too. That balcony scene in EP 8 and this scene in EP 9 proved just that.
Just a bit on the PatPran hand holding scenes... (Honestly, the best drama couple development, relationship and chemistry I have ever seen. And not only that, even in the real world, their OhmNanon counterparts felt just so real as well!)
Bad Buddy EP 8 [1/4]:
Pat: We are boyfriends now, let us have some sweet moments
(Extended his hand and holds Pran's hand, Pran who was still hesitant, pulled his hand away)
Pran: Sorry, I'm not used to it. Can you give me some time to adjust?
(Pat was actually disappointed. You can see it in his eyes, but of course he didn't tell Pran that)
Bad Buddy EP 8 [4/4]:
After Pran said that Pat is his boyfriend, and Pat asked for a hug, he held Pran's hand, and took a photo (before the grand reveal)
Bad Buddy EP 9 [1/4]:
Pat: Do you want me to post a status saying that we broke up. I can say that you dumped me... I can really do it for you. I can say I'm the heartbroken one.
(Pran was obviously and very visibly touched by those words. He already knows how much Pat loved him, and how much he himself loved Pat. But those words made him brave enough to be the one to hold Pat's hand first. Not once, but twice!)
Pat has been giving so much to Pran for all these while, and Pran has also done similarly too, although Pat was more obvious in doing so. This episode showed yet another step forward in their relationship. There is no more 'you' or 'me' to them, it is just 'Us' from there on.
And, it has always been Pat who tried to reach out to Pran earlier on. It was this moment that Pran broke yet another barrier in his heart and began to reach out to Pat. Him caring for Pat in the hospital in part 4 is just so touching to me...
Announcement: Bad Buddy EP 9 has just passed 5 million total views in less than 2 days! That's the fastest ever for any episodes.
Glad that more people have watched and rewatched the episode again, and got more insight of what actually happened and how the story and characters developed.
What happened earlier on the first day was partly the result of the huge suspense (and expectations) following that cliffhanger at the end of EP 8 a week ago.
While we wait for EP 10 to air in 12 days’ time, if we have the time, I suggest all of us use this extended break to rewatch all episodes again from EP 1!
It will prepare us well for the last three episodes and help us to better immerse ourselves in Pat and Pran’s world!
True. I understand why Wai would be hurt by Pran not telling him things. But I strongly believe he crossed the…
Thanks for adding the info on the gun law violation penalty!
Even if Pran was still angry at Wai, I'm sure he would have been a lot more ready to forgive him, as if not for that, his boyfriend might have ended up in jail for some time. Plus, his family might get involved, so it would have made their already complicated situation becoming even more complicated.
Thanks for adding more depth to the insight!
(A lot of actions in Bad Buddy are implied by gestures and other non-verbal cues and signs too - and Wai agonising over whether to send the recording or not was his residual ego still preventing him from doing the right thing. But he did in the end, and that's to me the first step in the right direction)
people are saying I’m self righteous. I’m sorry such a thing happened to me in high schoool. I told my roommate…
I appreciate that you share this to us, and I am really sorry to hear that it has happened to you. I understand your viewpoint perfectly, and yours is a valid reason and argument. It's definitely not right for anyone to out their friend, less still best friend in that way.
Nonetheless, each and every persons, including the characters in the series, Pran and Wai, Pat and others, all have different experiences and background, just as in every individual cases of this happening in our real world are different (Hence, we cannot and should not compare our experiences with theirs - at least not directly).
Pran has his reasons for forgiving Wai (Has he forgiven him completely yet? We don't know). Will he show his apology sincerely and wholeheartedly? We have to wait until 7 January to see that in EP 10.
There is more to be shown in the upcoming episodes, and I think it will be best that we wait for the further development of the story so that we can understand it better. As we know, many series including this one like to include plot that lasts more than an episode, and it may also be the case for Wai's part. It doesn't mean everything is over just at the end of EP 9.
That said, don't worry, you have a lot of good buddies here, and I can vouch for you that most if not all the people here are very nice. I have seen all that in the past two months here. That's why I love this particular comment section so much.
It is a place where toxicity is minimal (but still present, especially earlier on), which is quite rare in MDL and a refuge from the social media and internet out there that's often just so full of it.

Yes he crossed the line, and he has to earn that forgiveness from us. But that means we should also give him a chance to be forgiven, and he must prove himself in the next two or three episodes.
I know some people believe that the Wai redemption arc was rushed but here are some reasons to believe that it…
Good reference to the action that Pat and his gang took in EP 2!
As we talk about redemption arc. I feel in fact that the character of Pat has also matured a lot and gone through the same 'redemption' arc. Not that he's bad in the first place, but he did participate in that humiliating Wai back in EP 2 and that led to the original bus stop being destroyed in the first place.
I hope that Pat having shown how his gang has changed, can also inspire Wai to go and change himself. Being impulsive is his nature, and it won't be easily changed, but he can do it if he wants to.
His persistence in trying to mend the relationship between himself and Wai, and between Wai and Pran is important. As you said, it must definitely have helped in smoothening the differences and settle most of the issues between them.
At this point I'm simply happy they didn't break up. After having been apart from each other from years, it would…
Exactly, they don't need any more drama and all sorts of unnecessary additions to their pain considering they already have so much all around them.
What they need is for all to eventually accept them, although it won't be a smooth journey at first.
For example, I was initially hyped to watch Don't Say No (LeoFiat) at first, but along the way, the numerous unnecessary drama ended up ruining much of the story and plot, and even the relationship.
