I'm a bit surprised at the reactions here. I think maybe we're getting too conditioned to formulaic BLs. Normally…
Actually I like your theory, although honestly, I do feel that Tofu really did materialise, and made the ‘true miracle’ happen in turning his family situation around.

I think the series works really well, even though it has cons. Most of you might not like an unhappy ending for…
Thank you for sharing this. I really appreciate the revelations especially of the limitations that their adaptation deals had on the story as portrayed in the series.

I hope you don't mind me sharing your comment here, as I did for those who haven't read this.

Regarding why Tofu looks like Neung, the past episodes (especially EP 14 and 15) had made it very clear that the…
Hence, since Neung was Nut's first love, the only one that he (still) loves without having to remember the pain of what happened (like what happened between him and Tarn, the forced separation and all), when the miraculous transformation happened to Tofu the teddy bear, it is logical for him to turn into Neung's appearance.

And Neung's story is really just that, that he died in an unfortunate accident that robbed him of his future, and his family, his friends of their precious son/brother/friend. Unfortunately as we know in our world today, this happen too many times, when a young life (or anyone else) lost their lives due to accidents and more.

(I know many of us, myself included expected more of Neung's backstory or somehow that he had been reincarnated/his soul ended up in Tofu. However, as Anik and Song themselves mentioned in the early episodes when they first saw Tofu together, it was already mentioned that this wasn't the case, and as sad as this made me, I also accepted it as the cold, hard truth of life)

As Nut did not know about the accident at all, lost touch and sheltered himself from pursuing after either Tarn or Neung (partly lost contact, and also because he still held the scars of his past love), Neung as he idolised it in his mind still existed as how he was 10 years prior (which is why Tofu looks like and has the body of Neung's ~18 years old self)

That is why Tofu is Tofu, and Nut himself can tell the difference between him and Neung almost immediately. When Nut loved Tofu, I am pretty sure the memory of his first love did linger, but the one whom he developed feelings for, and fell in love with, is really the Tofu who had managed to bring healing to his family, helping to reconcile him and his mother, and become his comfort and pillar of strength.

Hence, when Tofu died (by his own choice and volition), imagine what kind of pain Nut experienced, since not only that the one he truly loved died, but he also actually went through losing the one who had the appearance of his first love dying before him (and him not knowing it until 10 years later). It would have been double the pain.

And for him to be able to move on somewhat, is a significant process (especially if you compare it to his mother Na, and how she couldn't move on from losing Sibmeun, her husband, and wallowed in misery and self-guilt until she broke down, physically and mentally)

Plus, in the end, while he was able to move on (after a few months), it did not negate his love for Tofu. It was already mentioned that he will always love Tofu forever.

I was reading the deluge of comments that came up in the past few hours, and I was thinking of one thing:

The ending of this series isn't really a bad ending. It is always open to interpretation. But is it bad as quite a few of us made it to be, because it isn't the ending that we want?

(Means, do we put such an expectation on a story because we have grown invested with it, and then demand the story to end in the way that we fantasised it to be?)

It's perfectly fine for us to have a desire for a particular ending to a series/story, as I do have my own ending too (as I shared it somewhere below earlier yesterday and before that).

However, what is not ok is for us to lambast a series, or worse still, the actors, just because the ending isn't per what we expected/wanted it to be. This series, as highlighted earlier many times (and even shown in Juea's conversation with Nut in one of the early episodes), is not an all-fluff and happy happy one.

(Juea said that Nut's love story is good, but hard to sell. Because people want to watch those lovey dovey kind of love, fluff and all)

I am just highlighting that each one of us have a perspective to share, and I have seen various perspectives being shared, for the story wise and ending wise. For those who have not actually watched the ending, or the series, the ending isn't really bad if we step out of our comfort zone and expectations.

Look carefully throughout each episodes for details, understand the dialogues and characters, their point of view and more. Then, you'll understand better why things happen and more, and how the ending is actually more of an open and probably some may even say, 'happy' in some form.

Once again, this is just me saying my thoughts, and I hope those who haven't watched the ending and/or the series at all, will form their own judgments and not be easily swayed by anyone's arguments, including my own one.

People need to chill. This series isn't meant to be all fluff and happy, and we must not forget the amazing journey…
Exactly. Not everything has to be fluffy and all happy. There are times when things get tough and difficult. And this series doesn't necessarily end bad either.

I really appreciate all the efforts that the entire team placed into this. We need more of this kind of shows and series!

Title Bad Buddy
The Miracle of Teddy Bear is finally over. It has an ending that some may consider as sad, while others like me may think that it's more of open or even happy for the main couple.

I still highly recommend it if you haven't watched it yet. It's a hidden gem that is underrated and relatively unknown internationally (but it may get Eng sub release in YouTube soon). It broke a lot of barriers regarding BL/LGBT representations, and addressed many important issues related to them, to family values and relationships at the same time (with intricate and suspenseful storyline).

Just take note that it's not your usual BL story with all fluff and happiness. There will be a lot of angst and your tears may fall a lot. But I assure you, it's worth the journey. So yes, recommending this series to my Bad Buddy mates here! ):)

Read my comments below. It's not really a sad ending if you look carefully through the 'eyes of your heart'
Looking at things at multiple perspectives is very important. It's very easy for us to be clouded when we are so focused on a particular perspective and not willing to see from others' POV.

That's what I do, and I gladly share my thoughts so that all of us can understand each characters, the story better because of multiple perspectives that none of us can see from our own eyes/senses alone.

Trust me, you should still finish it. The actors did a really good job and the story was really beautiful towards the end.

It's not an easy journey for sure. It may be difficult to watch and go through, but do watch it with those who can support you. It may help you in going through it to the end!

I am not changing the narrative here. It's called sharing our thoughts.

I have had the same experience of being called 'working for GMM' when I was supporting Bad Buddy through it's toughest earliest episodes before.

We can agree to disagree, but I think it's completely disingenous to insinuate or suggest what you have suggested above.

Thank you. I never regretted a single moment watching this series, and in fact I will probably be rewatching it again from time to time. To me, the ending is actually happy, and at worst, open. ):)
