Chemistry between Xu Kai & Jing Tian is off to a strong start, both won't give each other an inch. A strong battle of wills with both showing there capabilities. A major plus for me!
My one reservation is how they have handled the more tragic/darker moments of the drama. These didn't land as well as they might of done for me, in part because the cinematography didn't really change throughout the opening episodes. Hopefully we will get a better contrast in this area in later episodes.
Overall though, this was a good start to a new drama.
This is the first drama in a while, I've genuinely been looking forward too. I'm at that nervous/excited stage of anticipation. As a Xu Kai fan and what appears to be a really intriguing plot I have high hopes. After a few disappointing drama's I need this to be good!
It was kind of satisfying to see those responsible to pay the price for the crimes but that trial was a a bit ridiculous. The defence attorney should of just taken a nap during the whole trial. If I was Yoo Jung Sook I would ask for a refund!
There was zero tension created during the trial, because we already knew everything and there was no attempt to escape justice, so it wasn't exactly dramatic.
Overall though this drama, despite some serious flaw's did provide a satisfying conclusion, even if it failed to create any real dramatic tension in the final few episodes.
Park Ki Young might be the most interesting character in this drama. He has done or allowed some horrible things to happen, but his quest for revenge has led in part to the unveiling of the truth.
I have to say the investigation team is a bit of a joke, I know they tried to explain the whole teeth thing, but this seems like a huge mistake (again)!
After 3 episodes i still don't know if this is any good. Episode 1 was a little all over the place but it was intriguing enough to keep me watching. Ep 2 and 3 have kind of been a little flat, I can't think of a real stand out moment from either these episodes.
The main positive from the first 3 episodes has been Shin Yu, he seems more relatable even when he's being a bit of a jerk. I've liked him far more than Hong Jo, who at times is a little childish.
I'm concerned about the whole love potion storyline and I really would like to see a couple of WOW moments in the next 1/2 episodes.
I can't see how they can possibly extend this drama for another 3 episodes without some contrived and likely outlandish plot twists.
I was mildly curious after last weeks episodes on how they planned to wrap up this story, now I'm finding it difficult to even maintain that level of interest.
Whichever direction they take Cha Young Woon, sadly it doesn't matter at this point as there seems to be 2 fairly obvious outcomes.
I've begun to really dislike how they have ended up portraying many of the villains in this drama, the director/scriptwriters seems to have purposely tried to make them all as hateful/evil as possible, which I find just really lazy storytelling.
I know that the a lot of focus will be on Sol Hee and Do Ha especially after ep 9 and rightly so, but I have liked how the aspect of regret is still playing a part in this drama. Who hasn't felt some regret over a choice taken or not as the case maybe? Its a very relatable emotion.
Do Ha guilt is obvious, in particular his choice of words, who hasn't said something they regret in the heat of the moment?
Sol Hee, whilst doing the right thing she has "hurt" people around her, this is likely caused her some regret.
Kang Min, seeing Sol Hee new life, fills him with some regret over the choice he made.
Additionally, some of the supporting cast have either shown signs of regrets or I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't feature for some in the remaining episodes.
For a romantic comedy to have an underling theme of regret for many of the cast, this has been surprising theme.
Like a football/soccer match that Sol Hee and Do Ha love to watch this was an episode of two halves. There was a contrast of emotions on display, in the the first half Sol Hee & Do Ha, Trust, Happiness and Love. In the second half of the episode the emotions took a clear turn. Betrayal, Rejection and Guilt.
The contrast was summed up though by Do Ha relationships, with Sol Hee - trust is paramount, they accept each other. With Eom Ji she never trusted Do Ha and it was a relationship built upon manipulation.
This episode highlighted and handled the differing emotions really well.
Maybe I was a little spoilt with the first 2 episodes because episode 3 was kind of average. It wasn't bad, just ok. Moo Chan was obviously going to survive but after a great set up in ep 2 the reveal was really tame.
Min Soo is a strange character, right now I'm getting a mixed vibe from him, victim? criminal? vigilante? Right now I'm learning towards criminal, he just seems a little off.
Mild curiosity is all I'm left with for the remaining episodes. Given that much of the murder/crimes and the those involved have been pretty obvious for a while its hard to build any kind of suspense. This seems to be a drama that presented too many clues to the audience that any surprises now would be, well, surprising!
May I ask when you solved JinWoo's xase? There were still few things I couldn't guess until today
I don't know that I solved the case, but the first suspicion was when Yoo Jung Sook refused to let Jin Woo family see him when he was in hospital, so episode4 i think. Plus we had the whole organ donation thing. This followed Cha Young Woon disappearing for a year and coming back a new man. Putting 2 and 2 together this felt like an obvious connection that said Yoo Jung Sook was a likely villain and there was a likely organ donation connecting. Bae Min Gyu was always a villain it was just how involved he was going to be. Park Ki Young was just creepy so i was always suspicious of his motives, his friendship with Cha Young Woon always felt fake to me.
I only got suspicious of Chu Young Choon after last weeks episodes. As a doctor himself was he somehow connected to Yoo Jung Sook? Well it turns out he was spying on Jin Woo.
Also this was shared on the forum - which made me question the motivations of the characters.
The character posters had the following text: Jin Seong - For Truth Young Joo - For Justice Young Woon - For Ambition / Destiny Yoo Jung Sook - For Salvation Park Ki Young - For Destruction Bae Min Gyu - For Luxury
So, early on for most of the villains seemed like villains to me. There was never a hidden mastermind.
Cha young woon acting like good son, good prosecutor gives justice, good senior almost like flawless guy in terms…
Cha Young Woon is a good guy, but the romance storyline just doesn't make any sense to me at this stage. It would would have indeed been better to have left this out all together.
For the romance part, I was expecting direct rejection from her fr cos all the qualities her mother laid down…
I think at this point any romance storyline just doesn't fit, there's been a tiny hint of something, but we went straight to a proposal??? Have they even been on a date?? I think the whole romance storyline is contrived and don't think it makes sense that its been introduced so late in the drama. But yeah, i hope they just end that "romance" asap.
Jo Bo ah world is comedic while Rowoon is serious..and then there will previous birth story! Not all dramas can…
I'm open to a darker drama or a romantic comedy, i guess the upcoming episodes will clarify what this is. They may be able to weave all these elements together and make a drama for everyone,.......I say hopefully ...gulp!
Jo Bo ah world is comedic while Rowoon is serious..and then there will previous birth story! Not all dramas can…
I'm watching that other drama as well, i felt that was easier to identify because of the slapstick elements, for me it is all comedy with the drama being secondary. Normally, i can get a sense of what a drama is going to be even after 1 episode, because there was so many different genres it isn't clear yet what this drama is. Only 1 episode, so will wait to see how it unfolds.
After a pretty promising start that at least left me intrigued, this drama has gradually fallen apart, as a mystery crime thriller it just became obvious who was involved, to the extent they could of just worn name badges - Villain No 1, Villain No 2 etc etc.... there was little mystery after the first few episodes. To make matters worse they tried to introduce a romance storyline with 2 characters that at best seem to admire each other, but have zero romantic chemistry. Cha Young Woon seemed to be have about the same amount of affection for Go Young Joo as he would if he was asking for a prostate exam!!

The danger with too much of a mix , horror, crime, comedy, drama. fantasy and romance you can end up with a mess. The transitions between scenes and the emotions these scene's are supposed to convey can lose there impact, if you move from one genre to another too quickly. Again just based on the first episode some of the transitions didn't quite work for me. Its only 1 episode so will see how this develops over the upcoming episodes.
I have no idea what this drama is supposed to be, it had too many genres mixed together to get any sense whether this is supposed to be a romantic comedy or a more serious drama. I had assumed that this was going be more serious, Rowoon demeaner, and the bloody hand scene suggested this, but in many of Jo Bo Ah scenes it felt more comedic. Too early judge but the mix of genres didn't quite work in the first ep.
I did like the ominous feel whenever the bloody hand appeared, along with Rowoon reaction, so calm, so matter of fact, definitely left me wanting to see more of this storyline.
Sol Hee has grown up to be pretty cynical, she doesn't have much faith in people, because everybody lies right? She is after all a walking, talking lie detector so she is reminded of this everyday.
This is why two moments stick out from ep 8 to me
Context of a lie, you can lie to hurt someone or you can lie to protect them. Kang Min did lie to her but he did have his misguided reasons. Context of the lie is vital and her superpower does not apply context. (Personally not a fan of his choice btw)
Sol Hee doesn't require an explanation from Do Ha, for someone who is cynical, to then put your trust in someone without knowing the details is a huge step for her. I liked this moment form Sol Hee.
