I think Anle/DZY achievements are spread across the entire drama, with HY we get the odd moment of acknowledgment…
We definitely see Anle and to some degree Han Yee differently, and I'm not sure either of us will change our minds! All i can offer is - In any action that Anle/DZY took that didn't involve her feelings towards HY she was decisive, attacking the city following Anning's death whilst driven by emotion and the need to save LMX she took decisive action.
With HY she was conflicted. There's this massive gulf between them, Her family and 80,000 soldiers were killed by his family. She knows this wasn't his fault but he is still the son and grandson of those responsible. Part of her wants to go to HY but there's so many reasons she can't. HY accepts this, he also doesn't believe they can be together.
HY certainly did considerable more things for DZY, but this was not about earning her love or living in fear, this was driven by his belief that he needed to atone for what had happened to her family. He is incredibly selfless in this regard, he also shoulders the responsibility for others actions even in the face of misdirected anger. He is truly remarkable.
Many of the things that HY did for DZY were hidden from her, again this was HY way. On finding out , she truly then began to understand HY and her own feelings towards him. In some respects her taking care of him now is a form of atonement for her treatment of him in the past. Its only now that they can really be on equally footing, no more secrets and finally be real with each other. I probably haven't convinced you but i thought I would give it a try😊
Is the fake wedding, to lure Han Ye to the wedding site, and substitute the bridegroom?
Apparently so or at least the wedding is fake , I've been told its in the novel. Maybe its just me, but when I heard this was the final act, it reminded me of a daytime soap opera storyline. Substituting the groom makes it sound more so.
The best episode! It is frigging epic - emotionally it hits every level!
This episode pulls everything together. It is my favourite by a distance. Its the culmination of how HY and DZY issues have developed and DZY truly recognising HY for the man he is. Then you have the emotions. It feels like a boulder running down a hill........they just keep rolling. Sooo much anguish and regret.
The whole "Fake Wedding" thing is giving me a daytime soap opera vibe! I've tried to ignore it given some of the other outlandish events that have taken place, but for story featuring large chunks of betrayal and regret, a fake wedding seems somewhat out of place...
I think Anle/DZY achievements are spread across the entire drama, with HY we get the odd moment of acknowledgment…
Everything is about how we interpret what we see, we obviously see things a little differently. Anle or DZY was celebrated for her achievements/accomplishments throughout, but these were based on her mission for justice for her family and then the welfare of Jing as a whole. She was decisive in all those moments.
If she is guilty of anything in respect of HY is that she used him as part her plan and was never completely honest with herself in respect to her feelings. In respect of being "greedy" isn't this more about living for herself rather than her family? I think HY could also be guilty of living for others and not himself.
Equals/balance does not mean keeping a scorecard of what each of them has or has not done for the other. I see the them now more as equals simply because they seem to be finally converging emotionally, intellectually and by their standing in the context of Jing as a whole. Again just how i see of course. BTW - completely agree this has been a real mixed bag - and your rating seems pretty fair. This has been good but not great. Given the theme and the cast it probably should have been great.
Hit or a miss? Well, to answer your question...it comes down to whether you enjoyed it or not. Personally, I don't…
I think Anle/DZY achievements are spread across the entire drama, with HY we get the odd moment of acknowledgment of his qualities, but its not until the back end of the drama when the implications of his accomplishments are fully recognised. It is a bit of exposition at that point. This actually make some sense, as it provides the audience and the characters in the drama to view them truly as equals. Prior to this point their relationship has lacked balance.
When top traffic actors are in a drama together, it doesn't make sense that the editing and storyline would be…
It has been disjointed, given how many episodes were used around the whole Crown Princess selection. It seems stupid now, given how much they have crammed in over the last 6 or so episodes. Anning was woefully short changed in screentime and development, I never felt we got to see the best of her.
Normally when actresses play top courtesans with beautiful and seductive dance that can make people drunk, I never…
Ethereal is the perfect word, her dance had that other worldly quality that made you want to keep watching. It was like Helen of Troy the face that launched a thousand ships or Sirens seducing sailors to crash upon the rocks.
You're spot on about how the show evoked and affected the emotions of us viewers. A solid 10 to the actors who…
Agreed! My rating has been set for while now, based purely on the actors and the emotional content. Short of a volcano erupting or aliens invading the ending won't change anything.
This episode highlighted all that this drama can do well when it gets it right , but also managed to show what it does badly when it goes wrong, all in the space of 45 minutes.
At its best it delivers the emotions of the characters exceptionally well. This was highlighted today by HY, DZY, LMX and Linlang. Looking back on my favourite moments of this drama its never been the sequence of events on screen, its been the emotion's shared by the characters and how that's made me feel.
But, where it goes wrong, is how it tells its story, Mo Bei might be the worst main villain in the history of CDrama's, its not because of how evil he is, its because he's is that stupid. The worst part is, originally in his early episodes this was not the case.
Linlang - I just feel bad for you, you never got what you deserved. You were unselfish to the end.
HY and DZY the further apart they seem the closer they really are.
HY is hilarious when drunk, that's my version of fishing.
HY and LMX - one of the best parts of the last 30 plus episodes is seeing your relationship change. It now feels full of respect and is a genuine friendship.
Mountain resorts 🤣.... They should stick to valleys with spa & hot spring or maybe RenAnle pirate cruise!
Apologies, I couldn't help myself, your suggestions do sound safer. Although, a spa/hot spring? I would have concerns fake DZY might turn up, she does like her baths!
The last few episodes have probably been the ones I've enjoyed the most across the entire drama, because after all the guilt, tragedy and regret, HY and DZY paths finally feel they are converging.
It has perhaps needed a shift in the dynamics of their relationship to accomplish this, HY is pushing DZY away this time, where previously it has always felt the other way around.
Yes it has required some leaps, but they might just get their happy ending - (No that was not a dig at Han Yee.....so stop your sniggering....come on people, your better than that.... yes really!) Personally if any honeymoon should take place avoid a mountain resort...just saying.....
I've had my own personal love/hate relationship with this drama, but I'm glad I have stuck with it, if for no other reason than Dilraba and Gong Jun, they have delivered repeatedly with their performances.
This is what the director said:“I wanted to paradoxically express the lyricism of the title. Longing, perhaps…
Thank you for sharing this, I had seen one or two post suggesting the title had a romantic connotation, which felt too literal to me. Given what I've seen so far, Longing for You felt more about the desires each character might have. With the directors comments and the poster it seems I was least on the right track. This makes the up coming episodes far more interesting!
