OMG! Fantastic short drama. Fast paced, not a second was wasted. Plot was really good. Last arc seems unnecessary as viewer but I understand that thrist of show us the main villain's redemption. Main leads were stunning. The clothing was such a treat. The bad sister' red dress with that gorgeous flowers detail, was superb. I wasn't expecting such a treat.

So err...Are 16 episodes K drama officially dead?
Well no really. I'm surprised no one makes the math's. There are some dramas with 12 episodes of 80 minutes long that ends same length that 16 episodes, 60 minutes. This particular one is 12 episodes of 70 minutes. that sums 14 episodes of 60 minutes. But, I agree with what was mentioned before 16 episodes is the minimal length to have some character development. Also, we used to watch dramas with 80-ish, 110-ish episodes too. Lol Not so long ago.

If you notice the Ming cooks also use peppers, red peppercorns if I'm not mistaken, which is a staple in Sichuan…
Thank you for your input. I'm quite intrigued to see how the Chinese chefs will masterfully transform the humble chili pepper in this competition.

On Which kdrama did they say chilli Peppers were first cultivated in china? i don't remember anyChilli peppers…
I sincerely don't remember. From those you mentioned, I started to watch the 2019 version of Ming Dynasty but it seems I stopped at episode 4. So, I can't say. The other ones I don't recall. I checked my list, and they aren't there. But, sometimes I won't add them all. I try to keep up with that to avoid watching something, I already watched. I'm not sure it was a C-drama. I'm going to watch all the ones you mentioned. Thank you!

On Which kdrama did they say chilli Peppers were first cultivated in china? i don't remember anyChilli peppers…
Hi there, I watched the video. It has interesting information. The book author utilized the word "probably" a lot. He talks about two "possible" entry points. The east one is the Portuguese merchants going through
Africa and the Goan (India), and from there, somehow works its way to Southeast Asia. The west one is the Spanish setting up their trade across the Pacific. Sailing from Acapulco, Mexico, across the Philippines, and eventually, the Manila galleons that go to Manila. (Literally transcribed). Then he said, "It gets a little hazier". And then he adds, "It's probably Fujian merchants". He isn't firm at this point. Despite that, whatever his book delves into, I'm sure it will be a nice read. I appreciate you taking the time to share this info.
And, because they said bad habits die hard. I had to check your explanation, and quote "... koreans claim gochu pepper had been there in korea for thousands of years as well, the only strong logic behind that they claim is : The Koreans had cultivated the gochu pepper for 10,000 years when Danggun gave them the gift of the magical gochu plant after the great Finno-Korean Hyper War. In 5000 BC, Korean Columbus sailed across the Pacific Ocean and landed in California, where he created gochu plantations. But, the Koreans lost the mystical powers of the gochu when the Huns invaded and caused chaos in the peninsula. The Gojoseon Korean tribe got stuck in the Americas and became the Shoshone tribe. Then thousands of years later, Portuguese traders reintroduced the holy gochu pepper plant back to Korea."

Well, these are the results that came out. Please don’t take it the wrong way. I’m just sharing what I did find. That’s all.

The entire story presented about the origins of the gochu pepper is a fictional parody and has no basis in history. The narrative combines genuine elements of Korean and Native American history and culture with fantastical, anachronistic, and false claims for humorous effect.
False claims in the story
10,000-year-old gochu: Chili peppers, including the Korean gochu, originated in the Americas and were not introduced to Asia until after Christopher Columbus's voyages. Archaeological evidence shows that peppers were first domesticated in South and Central America around 6,000 years ago, not in Korea 10,000 years ago.
Finno-Korean Hyper War: No historical evidence exists for a war between ancient Finns and Koreans. The "Finno-Korean Hyper War" is an internet meme created for satire and comedy.
Danggun and the gochu: In Korean mythology, the god-king Danggun Wanggeom founded Gojoseon, the first Korean kingdom, in 2333 BCE. The myth does not feature gochu peppers but instead describes Danggun's mother as a bear who transformed into a woman and his father as a son of the Lord of Heaven.
Korean "Columbus": There is no historical record of a Korean explorer reaching California in 5000 BC. The first reliable evidence of long-distance transoceanic travel was by European explorers in the 15th and 16th centuries.
Gojoseon and the Shoshone: The Shoshone are a Native American tribe whose history and origins are tied to the Great Basin region of North America, not to ancient Korea. The claim that the Gojoseon tribe became the Shoshone is fictional.
Portuguese traders reintroduced gochu: Portuguese traders did indeed introduce chili peppers to Asia, including Korea, in the late 16th or early 17th century. However, this happened as part of the Columbian Exchange, and they were introducing it for the first time, not reintroducing a lost crop.
Actual history of the gochu pepper
Origin: The chili pepper genus Capsicum originated in the Americas. It was first cultivated in Mexico and has been part of human diets there for over 8,000 years.
Global Spread: After Columbus's voyages, Spanish and Portuguese traders brought the pepper to Europe and then to Africa and Asia.
Arrival in Korea: Chili peppers arrived in the Korean Peninsula via trade routes, likely introduced by Portuguese traders through Japan in the late 16th or early 17th century. The first documented mention of chili peppers in a Korean encyclopedia was in 1614.
Korean Adaptation: Koreans rapidly adopted the new pepper and incorporated it into their cuisine, creating dishes like gochujang (fermented chili paste) and adding it to kimchi. Before this, black pepper and chopi (Korean pepper) were the primary spicy seasonings used.

Also, found this:
The first documented mention of chili peppers in Korea was in a 1614 encyclopedia. Before this, Korean cuisine did not use chili powder, and kimchi was a non-spicy, fermented vegetable dish.

I don’t remember in what drama I watched it, this whole thing about China vs Korea, the order of chili pepper introduction. I know I did.
But, at the same time, we should take it with a grain of salt. We’re watching fictional dramas that most of the time take huge liberties with how they portray history.

I’m finishing this here.
Thank you for your time. Bye

On Which kdrama did they say chilli Peppers were first cultivated in china? i don't remember anyChilli peppers…
Well, I can't remember the name of the drama/s for the love of me. I can't even remember if it was a Chinese or a Korean drama.
I checked Chef Hua, but the chili peppers aren't incorporated in a palace setting. And, because they only left the original version in Chinese on YouTube. It makes it hard for me to find the exact episode. I went through several episodes until I saw a dish cooked with chili peppers. I also tried to check Go Princess Go, but the playlist is hidden.
I'm almost sure the drama was in a palace setting, similar to Story of Yanxi Palace. I remember the secrecy about the chili peppers. The female lead spotted them in the royal garden and cut a few and put them in a handkerchief. Late at her house, she opened the handkerchief and examined the peppers. Then she decided to cook one or two and save the rest for seeding. While her best friend was terrified and kept telling her, she could get killed and also her and all their families, because she stole those chili peppers. Besides, I think they talked about it, or maybe another character did it, about how they had chili peppers in China but not yet in Korea. I may be wrong. This is all I remember for now.
I don't know Chinese or Korean history. Besides the occasional depictions in C-dramas or K-dramas of true historical events, rulers, military leaders, or prominent intellectual figures are featured. I occasionally would delve into some of them when they intrigue me for any reason. So, I'll take your word for it.
But on my side, still it isn’t clear when chili peppers arrived in China and Korea.
Meanwhile, I found this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskFoodHistorians/comments/q8fcks/where_when_and_how_were_spicy_chili_peppers/
Please check, sodascape and benin_jam_key answers.
That even when it doesn’t clarify it, it goes a bit more into detail. I read all the articles mentioned, but the one from Michigan State University, where I can’t even check as a guest, yet. Waiting for them to send a second form to be able to read it.
If I ever remember the name/s of the drama/s, I’ll let you know.

Title Queenmaker
In episode 11th, when the people demand Oh Kyung Sook to resign and chant "Resign, resign." It made me chuckle. It reminded me of the scene in "Men in Black II", when Agent K and Agent J went to the storage locker in the Grand Central Terminal. And they talked with the diminutive, cute aliens living there. And all of them chant "All Hail J, All Hail J..." It's so hilarious. 🤣

I have a wish. I hope they'll find a better makeup artist. In episode 6, you can see pores dilated, the greasy noses of everybody. Or maybe what failed was the lighting; it was too harsh sometimes. It really was a poor job. It wasn't aesthetic at all. And it distracts you from what is happening. I hope it gets better.

You wouldn't happen to know when he was born? I mean the year? MDL only has the date of his birth, I am curious…
Hi Viraleksa! I'm sorry, I don't know his age. His date of birth is June 25th. I also couldn't find his year of birth. He looks like a man in his middle 30's. With men sometimes it's hard to say. Cheers!

No entiendo el puntaje tan bajo ?? A mi me encantó.
