I’ve watched both Kunning palace and Princess royal and I really liked both dramas. I really like this drama as well and def recommend it. Apparently, the novel had a reincarnation theme too but the drama dropped that plot…so if you like reincarnation/ 2nd chance storylines, this drama doesn’t have it. Both FL and ML are so captivating. I would say give it til at least ep 5.

Every once in a while, I’ll come back and watch parts of this drama. Besides the ending, it’s probably as close to perfection as any drama can possibly get.
Just finished. Wow! WOW! Yes, there are tropes we have seen before…but some things were done sooooo well!!!
Sun Zhen Ni portrayed both sexy villainess Mu Xuanling and pure, innocent Pearl to perfection. Obviously she plays the saintess well because it’s a similar character to one she played in TTEOTM…but There’s a scene where Pearl (who has the personality of a marshmallow🤦🏻♀️) brings snacks for “Teacher” while he’s upset..she does that innocent little head tilt…and even I thought “yeah, no wonder he’s in love with her. She’s too cute!”
Vin Zhang as Demon Lord was 😍. XXC was cute and all…but Demon Lord suffered for 10,000 years and came back with a vengeance!😈All that angst just makes a girl feel all tingly. Like yes, daddy, destroy and crush them all! The fact that he found out the truth later and was still so conflicted….ultimately, making the same sacrifice🥲 He was the hero the world didn’t deserve.
Wang Duo as NXY/TMS..omfg. I rarely ever like 2nd ML but he was a top notch-chef’s kiss-standing ovation-masterpiece. Like sir, you get an imaginary award from my heart for BEST fictional male character in Chinese drama land. 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼 He will never get the FL’s heart, but he surely does have mine (and countless others too😬). Also, the fact that I watched him die 3 times…3 TIMES!!! I am traumatized!!!!
As for the ending, I loved the comparison where Demon Lord ZM had to go back and go through another 10,000 years of imprisonment…that whole sequence felt really badass, like “yeah, I know it’s coming. Let’s get this shit over with.” See…SEE! That’s why he got the girl!!!! The final scene where MXL wakes up and kisses the new XXC/demon lord..felt off and abrupt…But that’s a typical drama ending🤷🏻♀️ at least it was a happy one.
