I am with you there....Xiao Lang has always been selfish and unwilling to share Yi Cheng with anyone else so even though we don't get to see why she wanted a divorce it probably is partly out of anger because he backed out of their plans to go to the US together. Based on the way they parted at the airport I never believed that she would be back and he obviously had no desire to go to the US either so they are at a stalemate.

Yeah Qi Qi living with the in laws is weird but he so young and immature. It probably is not something they necessarily want either but they seem to be very attached to the baby so they would probably worry more with them gone.

Speaking of weird, the parting conversation between Lin Qzi and Qi Qi at the train station was just that. She wants him to continue to take of her parents while she does what and he is so clueless...smh.

Absolutely nothing that previous posters wrote prepared me for that ice skating rink scene with Xiao Rong....I think my mouth fell open and stayed that way till her rant was over. Deflecting much was she.
Talk about nerve to hurl out the accusations when she has done so much worse to him on the down low and all of this in front of The Master's son as if he is not already traumatized. When she said "lets divorce" I answered before Erqiang. "Yes please!" And so we now know how her mother really feels about Erqiang. For all her acidic insults I hope she has to eat them one day.

Can someone pretty please give me a spoiler and confirm that we never see her and her daughter again for the remaining episodes?

Between Xiao Rong, the POS Dad, it is just too much in one episode. How does he continue to fleece his kids I just don't understand. Sanli, that is your fault for bringing him back into the picture.

Unto Yi Cheng....I think that if someone lives in a glass they should not throw stones. Does anyone notice how alike he is to his father in terms of how opinionated they both are. His constant lecturing to his siblings is just way over the top. What is going to happen when he has his own kids, I can tell you they will not have it easy.

Simei....I really do hope everything works out with her and Cheng Gang. At least the rose colored glasses are off. Was it really necessary for them to move back into that house. Were it me, Yi Cheng's is where I would have gone so that both men could bond and work out their differences. Her Dad would not get 1 cent more from me. But she is so in love and Cheng Gang appears to be humbled by the shot gun experience of losing his job and blending into that dysfunctional Qiao family.

Noticeably absent from the hospital....Sanli's MIL, BIL and his wife.

I don't know if him being adopted is the sole reason for his poor treatment by her because we see this type of treatment in families all the time with the same mother and father, where one child is favored over another. I think she is just a nasty miserable money grubbing woman period. Simei warned Sanli about the type of woman her future MIL was before they got married based on what she heard about her from others. So to me it is more of a character flaw than anything else. You are right though, this is reality for some and even though I had a hard time in the beginning with so much doom and gloom with the characters, my irritation with has somewhat quieted down.

Fun Fact....That painting behind Yi Cheng's couch has been bugging me for a while and then the light bulb went off. It was one of Ikea's best selling prints until a few years ago. So of course I googled Ikea and China launch date. Answer 1998 . So Kudos to the set designer for placement integrity as far as the era is concerned.

The bookstore Chief is the father of Xiao Rong's baby (if she really is pregnant). When we first met her she was already hormonal which is why she tried to break up with Erqiang. The marriage between her and Erqiang was more recently consummated. The Chief wants her to pass if off as Erqiang and he is so clueless he probably won't do the math. What I don't understand though is she was in the hospital for a seizure, how did they not do a blood test then.

I think Cheng Gang was just following Sime's lead by not telling Yi Cheng about the military discharge. It seemed like he started to then she interrupted him but yes the way he showed up at her doorstep was not a good look at all and his personality completely changed from the cold brusque way he normally talks to her. This was a little strange.
BTW, based on the comments above we are wayyyyy behind. 😀

Yes I am patiently waiting to see which one will emerge victorious (MIL or Sanli). I got the gist of her retort to her MIL in Episode 22 when she basically tells her that the 6 months money is all she would be getting...so stretch it out to include Yi Ning's house purchase-LOL, but I think some of the actual conversation got lost in translation. The way it was subbed maybe? But what if Yi Ding had not gotten into a fight with the other market people and had to leave... What would he have done if Sanli had not dragged it out of him....My bet is that he would have given his mother the money. He is the go along to get along type (I know the type well LOL) and because he is so nice and disarming after a while Sanli will start to internalize how pissed she really is at his inability to pick a side.
