I am already rewatching the episode lol. I thought Thee's bracelet said Top when I first watched, but now I see it is T❤️P. Who was "P" when he was a child?! Please tell me we will find out 😭
Tonliew is crushing this role so far. It's literally like Phoon in my brain from the novel jumped onto the screen. Just phenomenal. This story is so well done so far! They're genuinely pulling all the heartstrings, and I am so so so mad I have to wait another week for the next episode. This arc is gonna stomp my heart on the floor so hard 😭
It's only the first episode and I'm way too emotional and stressed out! I don't think I'm emotionally stable enough…
FahPhoon's story is very emotional. Strap in lol. I am not a crier - hate it with a passion, really - but their story made me cry. It's still my favorite story of all the 5 couples, though 💜
Ohmigosh I just knew Rome was going to interrupt 😂
But seriously? Phuwin's eyes in this series are telling every story and showcasing every emotion. It's so well done on his part. When he was asking Plub if she was mad at him for falling for a man, his eyes were basically the begging eyes of Puss in Boots from Shrek. Can we have more well written scripts like this one so these actors can show off their talents like this more often, please?
The angst and tension this movie was filled with! Dang. It was extremely well done, though, I am slightly disappointed at how open the ending was. It makes sense, yes, but it felt so abrupt. I was locked in, focused, intrigued, ready. Then, bam! Credits. I quite literally froze and said out loud, "What?!" It was a bit jarring. I'm not usually a fan of open endings, I like finality in my stories lol. This wasn't just the door is ajar, open. This was the door has been entirely removed, open. Stopping and reflecting, it makes me feel like Sugiki was hell bent on winning to prove he could, and refused any sort of distraction that might get in the way. Though, he definitely did not articulate that at all. It's almost like he said to Suzuki, "Once I win, we'll get together." when he said he'd see him at 10Dance, but we're supposed to muddle into that conclusion ourselves. Communication was a bit amiss between them, which is really the only let down I felt in the film. However, the way they spoke and understood each other through the movements and dance was beautiful. Very visceral. Thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
OK. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't great. I see a lot of comments talking about the NC scenes and how often they happen, but for me, the frequency made sense based on the story line. However. The way the NC scenes were shot felt like they were trying to extend time as filler rather than actually necessary. Which, in turn, made most of the NC scenes feel gratuitous. This could have been better at 10 episodes. It could have shown more reflective flashbacks when Sorn realized just how much he liked Jun. The GL story line could have been cut out entirely, because what the crap even was that? Everything with Phut and Vee could have been eliminated. The two little kids delivering coffee could have been eliminated, because that just felt like a producer wanted their kids in the show. The potential was there, and it felt like it missed the mark, mostly because of the excessiveness of the NC scenes. So, yeah. Not bad, but not great.
OK, so another random question. In the scene where Thee and Peach are outside at the homestay sitting at the table with the chess board, there is this weird metallic sound in the background. I heard it the first time I watched the episode but let it go, now rewatching, it's a sound that my brain loathes lol. And I knew I had heard it before! In Fourever You when Johan and North are outside at the café before North passes out, it's in the background there, too, only louder and more grating. Does anyone know what it is?!
Random question... Why is Pond wearing lighter contacts in this series? It's a silly thing, but I am continually distracted by it and questioning the purpose of it.
I just finished this, and on the one hand, loved it. On the other, demand justice for Gao Tu. Hua Yong and Shao You's relationship is aptly called psychotic by Wen Lang lol. But it oddly works. And dang if Huang Xing isn't just the prettiest human. This is definitely one I will revisit because I know there are some things I missed the first go around lol.
I am hard fangirling this show lol. The dream sequence musical had me cackling, then Peach and Plub's back story pulled all the heartstrings, Thee coming in clutch to save Peach was perfectly shot, acted, and executed, then R being who we all *knew* had me in full glee giggles. Roller coaster of emotions in a single episode.
I also find it incredibly endearing that Peach calms himself down and explains patiently so Thee can understand. Thee can't imagine a world where money can't solve the issue, but Peach brings him such a humble humility. It's just a lovely balance.
OK, seriously? Every middle finger of every person, alive, dead, or otherwise, directed straight into Saint's dad's eyes. He's an absolute douche magoo of a human, and I wish him nothing but daily paper cuts under his fingernails with constant citrus splash surprises.
Ermehgerd, Rome crumbs! And dancing in the rain! And Thee and Mok's childhood friendship! Adorbs. I haven't read the novel, so I don't know for sure, but with how light the first episodes have been, I'm mildly holding my breath for the shoe to drop and the mafia aspect to really darken things. And I know we all assume and hope we're right, but if they have someone other than William playing Rome, I'mma riot.
OK, I genuinely love that the way this feels is a bit on the goofy side, but it doesn't try to take itself seriously. It's not trying to be serious with a side of goofy. It's goofy, and knows and embraces it. That's the refreshing part for me. It makes it feel more... natural? I'm not even sure that's the word I'm looking for, but it doesn't feel forced, and that makes a world of difference for me. Thee is genuinely sheltered in a money bubble, and Peach is genuinely trying to explain and help him. This is already so much better than I anticipated because of it 🥰
That is so not what The Fool card means... It's about new beginnings and spontaneity and adventure. It *can* mean to be cautious about impulsivity, but nothing about someone lying to you. Who the hell came up with that? I get they wanted to create tension (because it's apparently the slowest slow burn in history 🙄), but at least do the minimum cursory Google search about the cards. Make it The Moon (hidden truths or secrets) or the Three of Swords (painful truth after discovering a lie), but not The Fool. *le sigh*
How is it possible that a grown-ass man is being locked and upheld by the staff in a house? It is absurd. That…
From my understanding and drawing conclusions from the comments of others, Saint's father is the university president and holds a lot of sway. Some of what I have seen has suggested Saint's father holds Ice's future in his hands because of his position, and may have been the culprit in Mint choosing Ice to begin with. For me, that suggests a healthy amount of fear on Saint's part - both for his own future because familial disappointment and a desire to be cared for war wage inside of Saint, but also because he doesn't want more sh!t to fall on Ice. I think it started with the familial aspect, but has turned to the protection aspect. If Saint has led a sheltered life where expectations of success are tantamount to being accepted, it could easily result in that grown-ass adult not knowing how to stand up for himself, so he folds. Neglect and impossible expectations are also types of trauma. Ice seems to be literally the only thing Saint will stand up for, which suggests to me that Saint is reaching for something for himself for the first time and feels guilty about it regarding his father. Also, staff are going to, generally, follow the orders of the one who pays them. Fear of losing their job is a hard motivator. That was a lot lol, sorry.
OK, I am still fully invested, but it's dragging a bit here. This episode had good parts, but felt suuuupper slow as a whole.
Also, I loathe Saint's father, the maid, and Warm. They can all fall in a hole. A deep hole. Into the pit of despair. Where they will have the life sucked from them. Painfully. With no miracles to fix it.
Also also, the no subtitles for the texts drove me up a wall! I kept having to pause and pull up a translator app so I could keep up.
One more also, I get that Ice is doing it for revenge, but dayum child, ask for some friggin' help! Trying to solo it ain't gonna do the trick. Mint has been at this and getting away with it for what feels like a long time - he knows how to be cautious. Grab a posse to do reconnaissance together! *le sigh*
is this any good? comparing it to your favorite movies of same genres, which one would win? and why (So i can…
Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Are there some glaring plot holes? Yes. Is the story enough to make up for those? For me, yes. It's a bit over the top, and the CGI is pretty terrible, but the acting is well done, the story was a pleasant surprise, and the moral aspect of right and wrong is questioned with authenticity. I like that San questions how his reincarnated love could be a man, because he's over 100 years old, and 100 years ago that wasn't what was done (openly, at least). The question of sacrificing one to save another is struggled with in a way that makes you understand the struggle and question what you would do in the character's place. And above all, Daou and Offroad have phenomenal chemistry. They've proven themselves to me enough that I will, mostly, blindly watch anything they are a part of just to see them act together. This was much more long-winded than I intended, but I do recommend this show. It's deep enough to keep my attention piqued, while providing enough fluff to keep me smiling in my hopeless romantic heart.
They're still filming. They usually have to finish filming before they can announce an air date in case something goes awry and filming needs to be extended.
I have so many emotions about this show, and I'm unsure where to put them all. Rage because of Saint's dad and effin' Mint, confusion about Fah somehow always showing up, hope for Ice and Saint to find peace both individually and together, soft smiles for the progress they made in this episode, eye rolling for the predictable doorbell interrupting them, hella judgey side eye for Warm showing up (or existing at all, really), some mild wth about Mud and Book because that felt like left field, and impatience because I have to wait a whole ass week for the next episode.
I think this show will be one I will have to binge re-watch once it's all aired to alleviate my impatience each week, and the frustration at the pacing. It's a bit slow, but not terrible. Some trimming could have cleaned it up, and the random bra ad was ridiculous. Though, I do understand sponsors requiring screen time, that was just, ugh.
HOPEFULLY YESS!!if they don’t show up, it just wouldn’t make sense since they play pretty big roles in all…
I think Ter will be in it more than Hill if they follow the books. Phoon talks to Ter a lot in his book. Hill is always just kind of a side note in every book but his own lol.
