I think that although it was a forced engagement, because CSS was the one who accepted it, it will be easier for her to accept LBY or at least to give him a chance. If the parents had accepted the engagement she would be predisposed to dislike and make things difficult for him, because she is very stubborn.

I think the issue here is that in the novel it was LBY asking the king in front of General Cheng, Uncle Wan and Xiao Yuanyi only. General Cheng accepted the proposal because the king asked him. And XY just didn't have a chance to argue like in the drama. CSS don't find out until the banquet.
