XD I encountered my first historical drama last week where actually that happens - The Long Ballad. Just a suggestion, because I went absolutely gungho for the cool female lead; it's like she's the protagonist of a shounen setting without shoujo cliches. :D

Definitely read the novel because then you will notice the screenwriter extracted so many important lines (even from the 'extra' chapters after the main story ended) that tend to give that scene in the drama that extra depth and keeps the characterisation of the protagonists grounded. I just finished yesterday in fact, it's so good~

(and just to add on to what @Jen said, what I do know, is that if I show these initial few eps to any of my friends, their imaginary antennas would definitely pick up the flirty signals radiating from the two protagonists in this drama. Come on guys, it's so obvious XD)

Seriously! The moment I set eyes on his WKX, I kid you not, I was blinded by his aura O_O like the boundary of his entire being was shielded behind this invisible barrier but all the air within was so dense with beauty, so that whenever he comes into the screen you can't even focus on his facial details because his very existence screams beauty. I'm so done, as you can see. Flat out. XD I think he's completely flipped my beauty standard I project on historical cdrama characters on its head. Hahahah just realised I shouldn't diminish how well he acted out his character by only focusing on how gorgeous he looks, forget to also mention how dynamic he is as well, as you nicely pointed out. :)))
