Where do the clowns go? It’s second week of 2024 and you guys are still not back?Tsk…tsk…
I was just going to say the same thing! hahahah Honestly, I'm genuinely in awe of your sense of perseverance in adamantly waiting for this drama. Or maybe it's because this comment section has become a mini community in itself revolving around discussions of BL related content, and that is what makes you unwilling to let go of this place? Hahahah
You can search it on youtube, new scenes from season2 have been released. I'm talking about the scene where San lang holds Xie lian's hands while they shake the dice in the gambler's den.
@CalisLI'm not sure I can say anything to explain it to you, given we clearly don't have the same receptors or…
Wow you did a very good job explaining your view on XL and their relationship, I really liked reading it! Thanks for taking the time to type it all out in detail! I think I'll take some more time to ruminate on XL's characterisation, although I really wished I could feel the same immediate and powerful reaction you had when you see how he looks at XY.
I can tell this drama is obviously produced with so much thought going into how each scene is immaculately set out, and it's such a pity I can't connect with some of the characters. So for such a well produced show, I definitely think it's expected and makes sense that most viewers will be moved and fall in love with this story and its characters, and XL too. :)
I feel the same way. I guess the way they introduced their relationship was very harsh and I just could not get…
I totally understand. It's like I can't trust XL even though Xiao Yao treats him as a soul mate. He also becomes angry and violent easily so it's always worrying how the next scene will play out. But on the other extreme end, he's also capable of all these big acts of love as well. I think it's just feeling like there's no bottom line with XL, whether it's in a good or bad way.
If you don't like him, no need like him.. it's just personal preferences, he is my favorite character in drama…
Yes I know that too. I've read the epilogue as well, but even after all that, I'm still not really affected. Which is why I wanted to understand other people's perspective.
To me XL is casually abusive in the beginning because they ain't friends. He had no feelings for her and she could…
Ooooh now that kind of makes sense! The thing I was having difficulty wrapping my head around, was being able to tell what stage of the relationship the scene wanted to convey to the audience. (Because it was hard for me to pick up actual romantic indicators so I didn't know how I should be feeling about XL and XY, especially just when I've started to develop trust for XL, but in the next moment he quickly subverts it without warning and becomes frightening/actually threatens XY's life.)
If you don't like him, no need like him.. it's just personal preferences, he is my favorite character in drama…
Ooh I see! Thanks for the input! Clearly I haven't understood their relationship well enough yet even though I've watched most of the episodes released so far.

I know, but I would like know to understand other people's perspective so I can at least connect with these characters, since I've spent a lot of time watching this drama.
Right? I really don't understand? Like I can see how the author made XL do all these BIG, dramatic scenes of love and sacrifice and whatnot, but in terms of his quiet, one-to-one scenes where he actually spends time *talking* with Xiao Yao (scenes to create the grounding for why she likes XL), I'm not feeling anything.
Guys I need help, I'm having a hard time trying to connect to *even* at least one of the male leads, Jing, Cang Xuan, Xiang Liu.
Xiang Liu appears to the most popular choice here according to the comments raving about him, but it just so happens he's my least favourite?
But I desperately want to like him as well. So, I'll explain my reasoning, and anyone who feels like it, can offer some examples that'll increase his attractive factor.
I think I still haven't recovered from XL's *extremely* and *casually* cruel and abusive phase (towards Xiao Yao) but just because he threw a charming glance her way or performed some dramatically flirtatious action, now Xiao Yao somehow finds herself seeing him in a romantic view? I don't get it?
Often it feels like XL is portrayed in a way that represents Xiao Yao idealistic image of a lover but is instead more like a mirage to Xiao Yao than an exchange of feelings that has actually deeply affected her world and grounded sense of reality?
All of their exchanges prior to Xiao Yao realising she has feelings for him (seeing him in reflected in the mirror and having her father ask about it), felt shallow to me?
Even when XL took her down into the sea and touched the coral (which was beautiful), it feels more like a friend showing her around? Like their relationship lacks any actual emotional leverage?
Even Xiao Yao's pining after XL kind of feels shallow, kind of like your first crush as a kid, just because that person was hot and *different* from the others.
Like he's "special" because "only he can understand me because it's SO rare to find someone else who also has such a lonely and long lifespan".
Well she did say she was lonely, and that's why she could endure all the abuse XL treated her with?
Because other than that, I find it hard to see how XL is attractive as a male lead.
How am I finding it impossible to view XL romantically when everyone else seems to really love him? I'm scratching my head here. :(
I'm just assuming most people on this page, know what TGCF is, right? If not, just ignore this :)
