I cannot stress how *satisfying* it is to finally see a wuxia drama with colourful characters, diverge from the righteous narrative that seems to constantly be enforced in a lot of other recent xianxia/wuxia cdramas. Namely trying to instil a sense of 'jiang-hu' moral code to abide by the common good or integrity in their leading characters so they'll eventually if not from the get go, remain on the 'good' side no matter how closely they toe the line. *planning to but haven't read the novel yet, so maybe I'll be proved wrong later*

I'm not saying it doesn't make for a compelling story, but GOSH, to see main characters (and even interesting characters with only 30s~ appearances) who are so heavily layered and deliciously amoral, tortured or evil trying to make sense of their own world, is such a delight to watch.

(btw you get past the initial discomfort of not seeing sparkling cinematography, but the way the camera moves to express the characters provides enough rapport to quickly latch on to them and dispel any sense of disbelief in this world.)

AND Lin Hai, from The Untamed cdrama, also serves as the music director here! I mean, what else could you ask for? *heart eyes*
On Word of Honor Sep 27, 2020
OMG the music composer is the same one from The Untamed - Lin Hai! You know the musical delivery of scenes and *squeak* possibly character songs are going to be in safe hands and an absolute delight to experience (if you've just being listening non-stop to every single character's mv and the entire soundtrack album released from The Untamed, like me ^O^)

I posted this below but here it is :D -For anyone who's too lazy to go through the entire 20 eps, and just want…
Step 1. Click on this link: https://www.bilibili.com/
Step 2. On the very top of the page, there is a white rectangular strip with a magnifying glass icon beside it- this blank area is the search function.
Step 3. Type in 陈情令特别版与原版1, or 陈情令特别版与原版2, etc depending on which episode you would like to see the special cut scenes in. EP 14 ;))))
Step 4. Click on the very first or second video that is listed under the various video search results.

Hope that worked, if not come back and tell me ;) Have fun!

Are there any scenes in the special edition that aren't there in the original Untamed?
I posted this below but here it is :D -

For anyone who's too lazy to go through the entire 20 eps, and just want to see the special cutscenes, just type in "陈情令特别版与原版" in the search section at the top of the website https://www.bilibili.com/

If it's a specific episode you want to see the cutscene in, just type the episode number as well like "陈情令特别版与原版 12" for example. That phrase translated verbatim just means Chen-Qing-Ling Special edition vs Original edition :)

(Pssst, there's a newly added nipple shot and naked upper body shot in one of cutscenes where LanWangJi is soaking in the lake ep14;) Hope that serves as incentive to go watch the cutscenes!)

Can someone please translate the phrase under this post? It was in the film and google translate isn't helping.
As @NakamotoKjesin paraphrased (the translation mentions JGY and LXC together in playing the meditation music in good will), this is the official narrative spread throughout the common folk of this world, and how NMJ will be known for and carried on in their memories, but as you would know from reading the novel or watching the main drama, it couldn't deviate farther from the truth.
While this also acknowledges one of the drama's themes - rumors that instill the image of a controversial or important figure in people's mind, never reflect the real story behind it to which there are many facets, it also expresses the futility of one's struggle in their will to walk down a path (that will most likely end in tragedy-> "walk down the lonely road" WWX) against fate; no matter who or how the characters in his life played their part, ultimately his decision to practice his family's martial/sword art would have lead him to a brutal death either way and he wouldn't have been able to "protect [his little brother] for a lifetime" that he concluded at the end. This brings to mind what his little brother NHS summed up at the end of the novel/drama when the conflict had been resolved, JGY was slayed, and justice had been delivered, that "heaven (the gods/fate) doesn't let even one person off", and everyone must meet their own karma.
That's just my interpretation :)

Yo! It's episode 14 with the nipple shot! XD XD XD. The viewers' comments are hilarious! BTW, what is Hyzt?
Hyzt is my friend's online nickname, who I [*tremendously*] pushed to go watch the cutscenes ;). I like how you're so enthusiastic about the nipple scene too XD, even helping to direct people to the exact episode hahahahah I know right, the comments are pretty funny XD

The misogyny is making me eye twitch.
Hahahaha I burst out in giggles when I couldn't help but imagine that XDD Made my day XDDDD

Indeed the line from the synopsis "Seiji ... makes a biting remark that she isn't the type popular with men" already made my eye roll so hard it went all the way to the back of my head. As if that wasn't enough "She ... finds herself taking his advice to heart." *facepalm* Come on.

Just finished watching and there's a whole bunch of emotions I can't process... I feel empty, I'm happy, I'm sad,…
Don't forget the audio drama! (It includes censored scenes from the novel and the voice actor for WWX is the same one as the voice actor for him in the drama ;), but the voice actor for LWJ is the same one from the anime.) On the top of the Comments, @Estelll put the links up already under Spoilers tag. :D Check it out, the audio drama is supppeerr good and the kiss scenes are done sooo well. :D

I totally feel you. >< Their stares are so romantic that I have to avert my eyes from the laptop screen to take a breather sometimes because I get so embarrassed just from the long silence in between them.

Yes! Thank you! I've been watching the anime season2 on youtube raw because I didn't know which anime site to find it on. I usually use gogoanime because I trust it doesn't have viruses, but it's been shut down in Australia where I live :(
Edit: For those in Australia, kissnime.ru is shut down by the government as well now, *CRIES*
Can anyone recommend other anime sites that don't have viruses?

Great & accurate review!! Totally agree with you there on what the themes of this story are --though they are…
"Can’t believe it. Why the f@ck didn’t I do this with Lan Zhan back when I was fifteen? I’ve really pissed away all my days, haven’t I?" Which chapter was this again? I forgot :D But now I wanna read it again :P

What is you have written is seriously amazing! Definitely put this up on the review section so everyone can read this. ^^~ I would immediately go 'like' it >< That's how much I relish your analysis!
@Estelll Isn't it interesting with how the last scar on Wuxian's arm had faded away when the last person Mo Xuanyu cursed to take revenge on (Meng yao/Jin Guangyao) had died?
Because although Mo Xuanyu sent the revived Wx on a journey to avenge him, Meng yao never died by Wx's hands (okay this is debatable, but not DIRECTLY by his hands). Maybe that was the point all along.
It's runs in parallel and is indescribably symbolic of what you said here:"What would you do if you got a second chance in life? What would you change? For Wei Wuxian, the answer was not getting revenge. It wasn't trying to right all wrongs either. It wasn't about punishing the true culprits..."
