I was thinking the same thing. But on second thoughts, I think that’s actually the point — despite being a polyglot, he still hasn’t figured out her language yet, and neither has she. At that stage, communication is probably their biggest issue. And considering he keeps to himself and is pretty hopeless at opening his heart, her pushing him away would be a massive blow — especially when he finally lets his guard down and goes to her. So yeah, that scene makes a lot more sense when you look at it that way.

'When they worked together at the court, Anong saw and experienced Khun Phra's work life and was impressed by his dedication. She gave it her all and was ready to be his backup. On the day he had to plead in a case involving an influential person and was attacked by his opponent about their relationship, Khun Phra stood up and announced his relationship status with Anong in front of the court, leaving everyone stunned!'

Oh same, I don’t think Wichai has ever expressed any interest in Chanthorn, even with the romantic appearing vibe that they were probably trying to sell us in the earlier episodes (the lotus, the photo and the nostalgia for his late wife etc.) because his eyes say it all! He's never looked at Chanthorn the way he looks at Anong - completely smitten and love-struck. And yes, like you said, the chemistry, tension and all don’t lie. I just hated it when they tossed in unnecessary misleading and mixed messages, which was why episode 9 ruined it for me as it felt as if it were written and/or directed with a different idea in mind or by a different crew, or maybe it was. I was glad when he told Chanthorn that he’d been helping her because he wanted to fulfil his promise to her brother. I just hope that he’ll soon tell Anong and everyone else the same thing.

When I said the kiss might seem a bit too sudden, it was because I first watched the episode without English subtitles and because of all the misunderstandings, I kind of assumed they kissed when they hadn’t cleared the air and while they were still thinking that the other person had feelings for someone else, which was true to certain extent haha but the build up in episode 11 made it up and was enough for me.

And yes please, he should confess and declare his love for Anong. Maybe he is of few words when it comes to love but some things have to be said to be understood so let’s hope he won't disappoint.

That feeling isn’t unfamiliar to me so I’m with you :)

You’re right. It’s actually fun to have your emotions stirred up a bit watching a drama (in a healthy way if that makes any sense haha) so I’ll probably go and rewatch some of my favourite scenes now.

Also, in episode 11, Wichai keeps asking Anong about her messages to confirm that what she wrote was true. It’s hella frustrating and confusing ‘cause come on, she’s wearing her heart on the sleeve, what else do you want to see? But I think that’s actually a huge step forward for him when he’s at long last started to accept her and his own feelings - just a word from Anong to confirm what he’s been so desperate to know and he would finally let his wall down and let her in (I'm quite sure we're thinking way too many words so many times already but yeah). Without the subtitles I thought the kiss was a bit too sudden but now I could see the build-up leading to that moment.

With all that said, I am still mad that Wichai has never clearly clarified that he doesn’t have feelings for Chanthorn. Maybe to mess with our heads, the scriptwriter decided to stick to certain dialogues from the book, in which he did love Chanthorn, giving us a weird mashup.

Wichai was first introduced to us viewers as this gentleman who was perfect in every way so that’s the idea of him that some of us seem to have been clinging on to even until now. Yes we’ve come to see that he’s not without flaws but the bar was set really high from the beginning that maybe we’re refusing to lower our expectations haha. But anyway, my patience is running low so I hope he’ll wake up for real and fight for Anong though I’m afraid he’ll be self-denying again.

After watching episode 11, I think I now get where Wichai is coming from (but it doesn’t mean some of his actions/reactions and his hurtful words to Anong are justified). I could be wrong though.

It has been showed that due to his trauma and illness, Wichai is someone with low self-worth who thinks he isn’t worthy of love, and that he’s not good enough for anyone, certainly not for Anong, the ‘perfect girl’ in his eyes. He thought he had no chance with her (his words), hence the denial, the pushing her to be with someone ‘better’ and all. It’s crystal clear to us how Anong feels about him so some of us find it implausible and too puzzling that he still thinks like that after all those hints, talks and messages but trust me this sort of thought process and reaction isn’t too far from reality, at least for someone with a lot of baggage like him. They may need constant affirmation and validation.

I think Wichai saw Anong pushing him to be with Chanthorn as a sign that she didn’t love him and that he wasn’t worthy of her love (‘If I’m so great why do you want me to be with Chanthorn’ - again, his words), even though he was doing it himself, pushing Anong to be with his brother. But well, the question why oh why is not news to us anymore. I guess Wichai almost always bringing up Chat in his conversations with Anong was another way to remind himself that it had to be someone else and not him, at the same time hoping that Anong would tell him otherwise.

IDDKKK I feel like they got together so quick. I kinda wish the slow burn would burn a little longer???
I also felt that it was a bit too sudden, not because it wasn't burning slow enough lol but because of all the misunderstandings, even minutes before they kiss. I'd prefer that both Anong and Wichai had the 'he/she loves me, he/she loves me not' phase and gradually came to understand each other but here halfway through episode 11 (I guess? I didn’t understand a word haha), they still thought or expressed in some way that they had no chance with the other person and that their feelings weren’t reciprocated AT ALL. All in all they just don't 'get' each other (yet). So yeah, it does feel a bit rushed.

I don't think Wichai is totally clueless about what's going on. He's just in denial about Anong's feelings and his own heart due to the facts that some of us viewers already pointed out - his past marriage, his narcissist of a mother who hates Anong to the core, and let's not forget that his brother is (fake) dating Anong and wants to marry her. Anong is clear she's not into Chat, but she never reveals that they aren't actually dating so of course Wichai can't just say screw it and make a move on her. As much as I want to see some big progress, I would highly likely feel and react the same way, maybe not as obliviously, if I were in the same shoes.

Cause thrillers with romance are completely different than a romcom or a romantic drama and we enjoy them??
I'm also not a fan of the politics in historical dramas so I'm with you here. I didn't care much about the politics in Knight Flower either and I don’t remember what did it for me exactly but since we’re taking romantic subplots, I'd say I was completely sold on the chemistry and romantic development.

Oh then it's probably not for you :). I found it boring watching the first few episodes (I'm not very big on historical dramas) but kept watching and only got hooked maybe 4 or 5 episodes in. Happy I did 'cause I usually give up quickly.

If you like romantic undertones/subplots, I'd recommend Knight Flower if you haven't seen it already. I started it with no expectations (and no, not for the romance at all, like BF, romance isn't even in the tags) but the tension/chemistry is sizzling and the subtle romance (development) is natural and really well done there imo. And that's not its only strong point :).

Noticed the topic on inclusion of romantic subplots (or not) weirdly becoming a heated debate here lol. I would…
Agreed. In certain scenes if we don’t know what our leads are saying, we’d think they’re a couple or falling in love and are having some intimate/couple moments. Like someone once said it here, they’re the only people who don’t know they’re actually dating lol. Joking aside, it’s obvious that Ja Yoo allows herself to be vulnerable only with Chae Woon. She’s been betrayed by a few but her reaction and the hurt in her eyes when it’s Chae Woon? It’s just different and she doesn’t even try to hide it, so can’t blame some viewers for expecting a bit of romance here. Personally, I don’t particularly expect romance in a thriller and the like but when the chemistry and tension is this good? Why not? But I’m happy with how this is going nevertheless.

If I remember correctly, it’s mentioned in one of the episodes that her sister had been cremated before she even started to venture into all this cultured meat/ organs thing so she couldn’t and likely still can’t do anything to bring her sister back.

It’s too early to tell. Also the grey area in this one is huge as whether cultured meat is good or bad is highly controversial and open to debate.
