A small town where nobody knows what a kdrama is
On A Shop for Killers May 14, 2024
This would've been better if it went in chronological order. Switching back and forth from a present day tense situation to the past, makes the action scenes less tense and the past less mysterious. If it went in order, we could discover things, watch action scenes not knowing who lives or dies, and then have a climax at the house. That would've allowed for more suspense, mystery, and we could learn to care for the characters before scary situations occur. Also there's way too many characters, the massive amount of killers in the opening are dumb, the plans are dumb, and a lot just doesn't make sense.

The acting is good. Lee Dong Wook is amazing as always and you can really tell that Hye Joon trained a lot for the series. So 7.5 for an okay plot and good acting.

This was genuinely really interesting. The mystery was complex with twists that were actually unique. I couldn't guess a single thing right, that's how original and fun this was. Don't let the low budget aspects stop you because the plot definitely makes up for it.

There's some ecchi type things in the first two eps, but it doesn't continue after that. So just push through a bit and you'll realize how complex the show actually is.

The way they look at each other in this drama AND in the movie My Happy Marriage πŸŒΈπŸ’ -- I'm still not over…
It's so interesting to me how crazy their chemistry was. I didn't feel any chemistry at all in My Happy Marriage, but here was through the roof! I would so watch a second season for them.

Haru's character is so interesting. He's this mystery of a character who is an amazing liar, but is sincere in his lying. He's able to manipulate others with good intentions? He's charismatic and brings the screen to life. There's a noticeable emptiness whenever he exits the screen. Meguro Ren did an absolutely amazing job. This is one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. He brought the series to life with every expression and line that he delivered.

I wonder when my boy Sana Hayato will stop be type casted at the y/n character. He's always the adorably awkward, kind, and sweet character no matter what he plays lol.

I never enjoy the business aspect of dramas, but this show was simply fascinating. The character Haru takes the world of business and essentially turns it into a game board for him to try and win then continue to the next round and beat higher bosses. I don't often get surprised by series anymore, but I was pleasantly surprised in each episode. The plot is unconventional, unexpected, and highly engaging.

I read the original webtoon. It's pretty messed up. I wonder how it'll translate to a live action and if they'll keep the same storyline.

This is one of the best and well made thai dramas that I've seen in awhile. The leads feel like real people, the story makes sense for the most part, there isn't nonsensical drama, and the male lead is sweet and adorable.

For the first 6 episodes, this was a solid 8/10. The leads have amazing chemistry. They have that companionship/warm friendship/just happy to be near you plus great tension as well. The episode where they're at the lake is amazing. They way they look at each other with so much warmth in their eyes and ahhh that hug. The leads were absolutely amazing together and it could've been so much better if they were allowed to develop that more. After episode 7, it goes downhill to more like a 6.5 or a 7.

Overall, I definitely recommend because the leads are amazing. The plot is good and bad, but pleaseee watch for the leads.

Devil Beside You was my absolute favorite series in middle school. It was such a weird show, but it's genuinely still really fun and they're chemistry was great. I re watched it last year and it still held up. It's fun even as an adult lol.
On Love like a K-Drama Mar 14, 2024
This is probably the least good season of "falling in love like a romantic drama" that I've seen. I've only watched the first three seasons and dropped this one on ep 7. There's no chemistry, charisma, barely any good acting (besides Riko) or good plot lines for the episodes they act out. The other seasons don't have as much context with the kiss scenes, but I think that works in their favor. They make us try to care about characters with backstories that we barely know about and then give us lackluster kiss scenes with zero chemistry...

Also I will never quit talking about how good Taeju is (previous season). He would've been perfect for this spinoff since he's korean.
On Amidst a Snowstorm of Love Feb 17, 2024
The leads fit quite well together and seem to have great chemistry, but the pacing is a bit slow. There's not a set plot moving the show forward, so there's not a lot of anticipation for what's coming next. I'm dropping on ep 6 because there's just not enough to keep me interested.

A love story for simplicity. Just as there's beauty in chaos, there's beauty in the slow and quiet.

This series is for someone that wants a break from busy and fast paced things. It's about learning to live rather than survive. If you're someone that enjoys japanese slice of life, you'll enjoy this series.

Yes, the mystery and thriller part is a bit odd, but the show truly is amazing.

It's really interesting that by the end of the series, you're oddly wanting the villian or antagonist to win rather…
I think it's interesting that in the end, it's all a matter of what choices you make. GC consistently said that he wanted to change, but didn't act on it. JM continued to give him outs and choice, his wife did too, and in the end because he came back instead of running away, he died. He relied on others and wanted to believe and trust in others so much that it led to his ruin and his ultimate decision to try to take his own life.

I think that the ending was good and made sense with the characters, but it would have been nice to see GC at least get some sense of peace. Like JM saying he let him go because he saw him as a friend. But I get the it... it was his own faults that led him to be betrayed and all alone in the end.

Title The Worst of Evil Spoiler
It's really interesting that by the end of the series, you're oddly wanting the villian or antagonist to win rather than the cop? Our hero begins to turn and become more and more twisted while our villain shows his loyalty and desire to provide for his workers and later become a better person.
