In this world, there is no virgin mole on the hand (the Romance of Tiger and Rose) because ML's subordinate can easily lie to someone pregnant when he wants to help her. so there is no easy way to determine someone is a virgin just by looking. after they do the deed there is no indication that the villain checks the FL losing virginity so there is no reason for the writer to make them do the deed (not just doing fake moan ext).
in the comment below someone says that in the novel FL doing a fake moan for the guard who eavesdropping but ML can't hold back when hearing it and doing it for real.
It's indicated that fake action is sufficient enough and the writer doesn't need to make it real.

In ancient settings female purity is important and virginity is something a good girl should have. her honor shredded or losing virginity for real is different for the husband in ancient. in the eyes of her husband, her purity is still intact if she virgin and he can easily believe her story that she was forced to do that. in this story, all people who know that they are locked in the room will eventually killed so there is really no urgency to do a real deed.
TLDR: the writer can remove the real deed or change it into fake action and the story can still flow without a problem

this drama coming as do Bong Son sequel but doesn't have the same vibe at all. The OG strong woman has a lot of cute and romantic moments, ML and FL's relationship is the core of the story and their progressive romantic relationship is interesting. this drama on the other hand ML and FL's relationship feels like a side story.
the drug cartel story is kinda unbelievable because they need to add romance to it. the cartel works underground and the police do not easily plant a mole there but FL miraculously does, even gets the trust of the boss when she is very suspicious (how can not trained people infiltrate a cartel without getting suspicious more over She just comes to Seoul not long ago how can she blend so good without getting suspicious). if they make FL and ML and other guy who love her fight with cartel maybe this drama is more interesting
some people already feel disappointed with the sequel different from OG and the story try to be serious but the lack of logic/common sense make this drama get a lot of negative review

yeah, I agree. She lost her virginity to him is so unnecessary and in contrast with the era she is in. This drama is set in ancient China and actually is already very lax here because the separation of male and female is almost nonexistent but because everybody does it we can call it world setting.
doing the deed before marriage has already happened to another character in the previous episode but the one who did it is a seductress and man with multiple wives/concubines. the act of her losing her virginity is unnecessary because it doesn't impact the story(still not together) and if they want to say that her heart opened they can make her willingly kiss him.

yes, this is a soap opera, and that is why this is having a good rating. normally soap opera in kdrama has very long airing times and because of that, the drama feels draggy. this drama on the other hand only have 12 when other have 50 or 100 so people who love soap opera but doesn't like long drama definitely love this.
basically, this drama is rare so people who like soap operas will give it a higher rating.
this is the second time(this year in Cdrama) I have seen ML push FL to the corner and lowkey forced her to stay with him when FL uses anything to go away.
