Should the other FL scare the FL’s face too based on this logic (since she ruined her family)?
for meng the two punishments have the same weight because her life is ruined. in ancient stories, the probability girl with a scar on her face to marry a good husband was close to zero and her personality is not help her get good partner too

leting her father and mother die or take punishment for herself and she choose the later. she is becoming better person but her way of doing is not 100% change. in early episoe her tought is slipiing and say that if she eliminate mu you there will be no treath but she choose not do it and using other srategy to save her family.
yes in episode 25 she still manipulating and using people but thats it she not kill people, blame other people(make inocent people take the blame) or framing people. if we compare it to her past life she is a saint now.

I would recommend "Story of Ming Lan". female lead is really clever and strong not just someone saying that she is strong. if you like reading I recommend reading the novel because in there FL's cleverness is amplified by the storytelling.
the difference is this drama is more compact with little branches of story and other characters and the main goal is clear to save the family from execution because of the trap they set up. story of Minglan on the other hand focuses on how Minglan navigates her life as a motherless child(birth mother) in a family of a husband with 2 wives and multiple children and her love story. Ming Lan is not alone she has a good grandmother on her side

actually, this is more believable because before time travel she was a bad girl who used any method to achieve her goal. if she becomes 100% good people not only this drama become boring but also weird. she acknowledges that her brother and father doing something bad and tries to persuade and discipline them but it needs time. TBH her brother is a womanizer to the roof but he is relatively good toward FL as a brother.
when her brother killed his slave/maid she made her father know that and released all her brother's slaves who wanted to go and gave them an allowance. She tries to remedy it but her love for her family is greater so she makes her brother punished by their own family instead of reporting it to Yamen.

the only drama I watch that really has FL less Pretty/sexy than the other is Abyss. before her death, FL was like a model and after her death she became cute.
