as much as i agree with you they should use it as it is but the reality of BL and GL market in kdrama just a fraction compare to fantasy drama.
they should choose another story to adapt but they use and modify it so i hope this a really good fantasy because they choose to modified relationship betwent main lead.
some of chinese drama synopsis is a spoiler atleast 1/3 of the plot and thats anoying. compare to the novel synopsis its really different

Shen Miao is young but after rebirth, she has empress dignity even though her physical body is still young. Zhao Liying does a good job being a young daughter and the wife of a powerful general in The Story of Ming Lan is the reason she may be a good choice to be SM.
maybe because I didn't see a lot of cdrama but there is no girl with a petite appearance but has empress dignity(image) in my memory. ZL can easily pass the petite and cute appearance but my image of her is not an empress with dignity. she probably can do that but her image is a comedic fun girl in my mind
in the last few episode ML doing something multiple time to force FL stay with him despite FL say that she want freedom. in this regard some of us will say that he has some jerk quality ( iknow its dream but that kinda forced)
Lee Hana is too old for this role, which the character is in 30 to 35. She is 40 and look older with little chubby…

yes, he did not look as young as other actresses like PMY who are 3 years younger but look way younger than her. Apart from her age appearance not matching with 30-year-old modern actress's standards, the age gap(visually) between her, her mother-in-law, and her maid is good. she looks young enough to be her daughter-in-law and old enough compared to her maid. so in this story world, there is no problem with her age.
if we want more realistic there is no way in joson era girl in 30/35 will look younger than her because there was no skin care in that era.

i don't think it will. romance genre atract more viewer so i doubt they will hide romance genre if they have them. my bet this will have slight romance,

maybe because the official report doesn't say there will be romance so MDL chooses a safe route and will add slight romance when the drama is finished and confirm there is slight romance.
